-What Lurks In The Labyrinth- 🔘

I sat on the ground while leaning against the grayish stone wall while looking at the other people who sat around their campfire and warmed up. I did not notice it was so chilly until I saw them lit the fire but even so I did not approach it. I talked to Luna a few minuets ago, and now I have a bigger bruise on my forehead because of her, she didn't like me calling her Doggie so she got a bit too violent.

I understood some of the situation here. They all came from the same hall I came from and from similar rooms like mine. Afterwards everyone got stuck here because of what lurks in the labyrinth, it was impossible to get pass it without getting killed on the spot, and that is said about the brave people who didn't run away after getting chills from it approaching. Nobody saw what exactly lurks there but some said that its awfully big and when its approaching it makes you lose your will to fight momentarily.

Most people that are camping here and tried to pass the labyrinth came back right after going in for only a few minutes. They claim that they just lost their way and its not because they were terrified but its not like anyone particularly cared. There were around ten people in the camp including me, but only a few approached me so I got to know their names.

Azriel, a medium height guy with a bit tanned skin colour, dark brown hair and bright blue eyes, when I talked to him he liked to joke a bit so I got along with him well. There were also Denise and Connor, two carefree people. They just met and already became besties. Denise had short dark brown hair and brown eyes that looked practically black but still were showing kindness.

Connor on the other hand had a light brown hair with bangs that covered most of his forehead and grey eyes that under a bit of light shined green, there was quiet a difference in their height as Connor was much taller than Denise. I got along well with them as well, they made the gloomy me seem a bit more friendly, I wish I had friends like that in my life before.

" Heyyy James! What are you doing sitting here all alone?" Denise approached me with a big smile on her face, behind her Connor looked at me with a doubt on his face as if warning me not to steal his prey.

" yeah... hi" I mumbled, " just trying to figure out a way out of here.", They sat by me," What is there to figure out? We will just go and beat that thing up!" Said Connor with a grin.

" Ahaha yeah, like it might be as easy as you made it sound" I started laughing and so did Denise and Connor. When I looked up Azriel was approaching us," guys, hungry? We got some meat here".

" Meat?! Where did you get meat from? " I said fast while hiding the drool by my mouth with my hand, it felt as if I didn't eat for hundred of years.  We all went to the campfire and started eating,  from what Azriel told me, there were a few wild boars here, but they were too big from what he said to be the normal boars that habitat on earth. They defeated them and that's everyone's meal now, but that wont last for long, too many people to feed.

As we finished the meal the group decided to plan a strategy,  to how to pass the labyrinth. Everyone sat around the campfire and one guy with blonde hair stood up to talk, " I think we should break into groups, three groups that have around three people in each, and then the first group that consist of guys will distract the monster while the other two will try to find the right pass." The guy grinned and everyone started whispering to each other.

They tried to get a solution for around half an hour and then I decided to give another tactic," I think its best to get a few people to attract the monster to the entrance so I and someone else who you choose will find a way out of the labyrinth first, before we risk all of the group if we make a mistake." I said while looking down. Why did I even speak up, its not like anybody will agree on it anyways.

"I agree! Ill join James to find the right pass in the labyrinth and Connor and the other guys can distract the monster, how does that sound? Everyone agree?" I looked up to see who was talking and surprisingly it was Azriel, I imagined he would be scared to face the monster but he was braver than what I thought. After a few minutes of whispering around the fire everyone agreed on my plan.

Denise approached me while holding something in her hand, " umm here," she handed me a cheery pink chalk, " don't ask why I have it, just take it. it might get useful out there. Use it wisely, and keep Azriel safe please, he is like a brother to me now." Denise smiled and walked back to Connor.

Next approached me Azriel," ready? Lets go, It'll be a lot of running ". I smiled and followed him. Except of us there were few other people including Connor and the blonde guy. Connor approached us,"we will give you 5 minutes to find a place to hide, don't get in trouble". Me and  Azriel entered the labyrinth first. The walls around us were even taller than what they looked like from afar and a little light passed through so it was dark. We turned right  and found a crack on the wall that would fit us both and keep us hidden.

We got in and after a while heard the guys shouting from the entrance, calling the monster and cursing him. Around five minutes passed by without any success until I felt chills pass through my whole body, and it definitely became colder with each minute that passed by. I glanced at Azriel that stood on my right, his eyes widened in fear and he shivered so much that it was practically noticeable, but I understood well how he felt, "its approaching, so try to calm down",  I whispered and he nodded back.

We stood for another few minutes and then heard footsteps getting closer and louder, from what I could see it was indeed a large creature and looked like a lizard that stood on his back feet. It's skin was black and so were the scales on his body that covered him like an armor.

We stood quietly as it was passing by and going towards the noise while dragging his long tail with sharp thorns, dangerously sticking out of it.

Go, go, go! Keep going, don't stop. I kept on saying in my head as if it will make him walk any faster.

And as if by karma, the huge lizard turned and looked at us with its bloody red eyes.
