-The Train Like Machine-🔘
Luna stood there towering above our heads and gazing down at us with her narrow brown eyes, in a matter of seconds she leaped up and jumped towards me. If the Lizard didn't kill me then she surely will now, I thought as I dodged aside and my injured shoulder let know about itself once again.
I got a bit more agile after the fight with the lizard, that's pretty weird. I have never been an athletic person, as well as a very fast one. I have a feeling that something changed after the fight ended but I'm not sure what exactly, except the ability to lit things up when I'm angry.
As I was wondering for a moment I forgot about Luna who was just as agile as I am and once again she dashed towards me, this time I reacted slower and that's how she lifted me up in the air like a pup.
I hang there confused and was wondering what's going on and why did she have to catch me by my clothes like that. I quickly glanced at Azriel for help, but he on the other hand only avoided my eyes and climbed on Luna's back.
I'm gonna lit him on fire later again. "Ungrateful brat," I mumbled under his breath as Luna leaped forward and began running towards the only way out of the labyrinth. I felt like a potato sack being hang on and heard my clothes rip on one of her teeth, those teeth are no joke. If she were to bite me I'd lose a part of myself momentarily.
We moved pretty fast, as fast as a car, maybe even faster. I felt every movement of hers, but not in a good way, I was always car sick. I gagged as I almost threw up and covered my mouth, and with my free arm I pat on her nose so she would notice that I'm feeling sick. Instead of stopping, she misunderstood me, she growled in satisfaction and began running even faster.
I'm sure that with this speed, we had passed the distance in mere minutes, but I felt so sick that I felt every second pass by, she is so clueless and that is starting to scare me.
Finally James lifted up his head and felt relieved as he saw their small group standing at the end of the hallway, but what was weird was that they all quickly moved aside when they noticed Luna approaching. 'Something is fishy here' thought James, and exactly at that moment Luna made a sharp turn and my favorite hoodie ripped easily as I was swung dangerously in the air.
The teeth held a piece of my hoodie and I soared in the air as I saw our group looking at me with terrified looks and some even covered their eyes with their hand. I prepared for the impact with the floor but instead I gently fell into someone's arms, and I felt like a toddler who was caught by his father after he was thrown into the air.
I slowly opened my eyes and lowered my arms from my head and relieved my hands which were clenched into fists which I did not notice until now. I glanced at the person who caught me and got surprised to see that it was Connor, but what has more surprised me was his silver skin which shined brightly under the dull light of the hallway. I was sure that he was standing with the group a minute ago, how did he reach me so fast in such a short period of time?
Connor let me down and the relieved group approached us, Luna followed them with a lowered head. She looked pitiful, I would have forgave her right away but she almost crashed me against the ground with that swing of hers. Right away when I recalled the ride we had here I ran aside and threw up everything I ate that morning.
I'm sure nobody would have judged me for that, because it could happen to anybody, especially after Luna. But I felt pathetic when someone patted my back, and for my luck it was Azriel. I angrily stared at him as I wiped my mouth with my ruined hoodie's sleeve and began spilling curses at him, not as many as I wanted though, because I felt sick once again and leaned against the closest wall.
Everyone left except Azriel and Luna, Azriel was weirdly giggling as he watched me, and Luna lowered her head even lower, she probably felt ashamed for almost killing me.
I felt amazed at how I almost got killed twice in such a short amount of time.
I completely ignored the giggling moron on my right and walked towards Luna that lay on the cold ground and stared at it as if it was the most interesting thing at the moment.
She suddenly flinched as I reached my hand towards her head. She probably misunderstood my intention, I thought as I pet her fluffy brown head.
"James, I'm so sorry. No.. I have excuse for it, your don't have to forgive me." Luna's voice trembled as she mumbled to the floor, and sank even lower on the cold ground. She didn't particularly talk but her voice echoed as If she did, it's another thing yet to discover about this place.
I smiled gently and began playing with her fluffy ears, I always loved dogs, but never got to keep one. So I enjoyed my time petting her. "Don't worry, I know you didn't do it on purpose. It was my hoodie that was too bad that it ripped so easily. I'm surprised how it didn't rip until now, so thank you for testing it out for me. But please consider my health first, I feel sick from sudden movements like that." I said as I smiled sweetly at her and she lifted her huge dog head and looked at me with hope filled eyes. Small lies won't harm anyone anyways, my brand new hoodie got ripped to pieces and shouting at her won't fix it anyways, so I decided to let this matter slip.
I turned and gazed down the enormous hall ahead, if I thought that the ones before were big than this one is on a completely different level. And the small group of fifteen people looked almost funny as they were gazing at it.
"So why did you get us here exactly, and why is Connor silver?" I curiously asked Luna as I turned to look at her again. And she on the other hand decided to lick my face with her enormous tongue, I stumbled back, fell on the ground and gave her a confused look.
"Oh my dear Canine god! I'm so sorry, I just got excited for a moment, it was a reflex of mine," her eyes apologetically looked at me, and made it almost impossible to get angry at her as I saw her big fluffy ears flap frantically on her head.
I smiled at her as I got up, "don't worry about it, but if you are so clumsy, why don't you change back to your human form? It'll be easier for me to deal with your sudden attacks." I said and she looked at me with wide eyes, for a moment I didn't understand why, but then she suddenly ran away from my sight without answering any of my questions and I got even more confused. She acted similar to how Anna acted when I asked her to do something she thought was embarrassing.
I stared down the hallway to where she just ran and heard an annoying giggling by my side. I didn't have to guess who was laughing so annoyingly, Azriel...
"Instead of laughing, can you let me know what's going on?" I angrily called to him, and for some reason he started laughing even louder, so I decided to let him be and walked towards the group.
As I approached the group Denise and Connor welcome with a smile, they did not laugh at me for what just happened but instead acted as if it never happened so I wouldn't feel awkward about it. "What's the matter, what is everyone staring at?" I curiously asked once again.
Connor pointed towards the ceiling of the huge hall with his silver hand which shined so brightly that it hurt to look at. But as I followed the direction he pointed at, there was a huge machine that reminded of something like a train, but this one looked funnier, as well that it was soaring in the air. I would have got excited about it if not the huge spider like creature that was nestling by it, and that it was almost impossible to get up there.
"So, it looks like a train to me?" James quietly said as he continued studying it.
"A train, what is that?" Denise curiously asked and when I glanced at her and Connor the both of them looked at me as if this word didn't make any sense to them. "You don't know what a train is? what year are you from?" I sarcastically said and smirked, but instead of saying that they pranked me Denise seriously said " thirteen twenty, I bet you are also from around that time? Because Connor is from year thirteen fifty six. I guess I got brought to this place before him." she said jokingly, but I didn't feel like joking as it didn't seem like she was lying.
Denise was dressed in a milky dress that covered most of her legs and the sleeves of the dress were long and black, the dress didn't look exactly like the ones from the pictures I saw in history book, it looked pretty much ordinary. And Connor on the other hand wore loose grey pants that were tacked in leather boots and a loose white shirt that was certainly a size bigger than his.
"Oh.. I thought you guys were cosplaying together for a moment." I said and they only looked confused at me. "I mean if you are not lying to made me look stupid than I guess I'll have to tell you that I'm from year two thousand twenty two." I said and was ready to get laughed at and that it was just a prank, but instead they looked with amazement at me.
"But the prophecy in my village said that in the year two thousand the world will end, so it was a lie after all?" Denise asked curiously. "I'm actually not sure about it, but we do have an old movie about the end of the world in year two thousand twelve." James joked as he saw Denise and Connor looking all confused again.
"Never mind it, what's more important is why is Connor silver exactly?" I said and glanced at Connor's bare arms.
"We are not exactly sure ourselves, he was inspecting one of the items the monster you defeated dropped and then it suddenly vanished and Connor became the way he is now." Denise said and lifted her shoulders a bit in a way of expressing that she has no idea what happened, "if I remember right it was one of the black scales that it dropped then".
"Oh, that's interesting so if this scale was like one of the magical items from a video game then it's probably a protective item." I said and grabbed Connor's arm and felt that it wasn't only silver but also hard, and cold as an iron. "That's amazing! Did you get anything else from it? Like for example you got stronger? Or faster?" I asked as I remembered how easily he caught me back then.
"I think I got stronger indeed, because I can lift stuff easier now, but what is it a "vidiyo game'?" Connor asked and looked pretty much confused what made me smile widely.
"Don't worry about it, what's more important is to get up there," I pointed at the weird looking train, "we need to get our stuff from the labyrinth and move forward."
If this place is based on video games then this actually should be a train, and it should get us out of this weird place. Anna you just wait, I'll return you soon.
