So, this is gonna be a rant. And I'm not gonna be very accepting of other views, since this has scientific evidence to support it.

So, I was watching this TV show where they made a class of seven year olds gender neutral.

I know you're probably thinking, hey, this is just Olive being queer again (because let's face it, that's basically my life motto), but this was found and recorded by my mum

And before, I thought my whole sensitivity about gender stuff was me being stuck up about shit.

But apparently they weren't as unfounded as I thought.

There is fucking scientific evidence that the toys you give children physically shapes their brains

It doesn't even change your way of thinking a little.

If you give a little boy a construction kit, fact, if they play it all the time, their brains will grow to become more mathematical

Now, why the fuck would you say "a boy gets lego" when giving a kid a present, then, say, giving a girl an "arts and crafts kit".

You are conditioning children to be a certain way

And why??

It. Makes. No. Sense.

Why would you deliberately leave your child less equipped to do certain jobs??

And it doesn't even stop there

It actually sometimes makes me sick, when I go to a playground and there's siblings, and the boy is in a dinosaur T-shirt and jeans or something, and 80% of the time, a girl will be in a frilly dress

This is at ages before they could choose that for themselves

I know I would have been a hell of a lot more happy as a kid if ny dad had made me aware it was possible to wear guys clothes.

Because I prefer it. I have 3 favourite shirts, and two were from mens sections (I mean one unisex ish from a star wars exhibition but still)

Up until puberty, the main difference between boys and girls is the genitals. There's no muscle difference if you do the same amount of stuff, and there's certainly no figure difference

So why the fuck do you have 'girls and boys' clothing sections FOR CHILDREN???

How is it helpful to put your daughter in a 'forever beautiful' T-shirt and impart upon them that looks are all that matters, and how helpful is it to put your son in something that implies he's tough, causing him to bottle up his emotions.

Why would you do that to your children???

Tbh I don't even understand with adults. Make a T-shirt in mens and womens fit and let people choose what they're comfortable in-- why does it need to be so different with designs

They took a test, in a class of seven year olds

It showed the boys overestimated their abilities, and the girls underestimated.

It showed the boys had difficulty expressing any emotion but anger-- which is actually quite worrying.

They did this project, making them 'gender neutral' for a term

And that changed completely.

Before they had boys and girls saying boys were better, stronger, smarter.

After it was over, the girls confidence went up by 10%

The boys emotional language went up by I forget how much,

The girls were visibly more talkative and confident

The bad behaviour from the boys was significantly lowered

So

why the hell would we put our kids through this?????

It really does make no sense, when there's SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE that by putting your kid in a 'gendered environment', you're holding them back.

I just... Ugh.
