review: It feels like such a long time since I've read a children's classic, and this was such a nice break from everything else I've been reading. I do have a massive soft spot for children's literature which is odd because I normally hate overly-happy books, but there is something infectious about the awe and wonderment of a child.

I did like this book, and I thought it was sweet and heartwarming. Heidi reminded me a lot of Anne from Anne of Green Gables as their outlook on the world is very similar. It was nice to just escape into the Swiss Alps for a while, and everything is so wonderfully described that you feel as though you are looking out into the mountains as well.

I'm not a religious person, but I thought the addition of faith and Christianity worked really well in the development and growth of Heidi. Overall, I thought it was a very lovely book.
