Real Seth here, I wanted to tell you guys the idea behind the story a bit.

The whole Hermitcraft AU was just from me pondering over HC for a while; the concept, the angst, Grian's wish for safety...that was different.

You see, my grandad has terrible dementia. When we were at dinner, he was stuttering over his words and couldn't verbalize his thoughts and questions.

So he looked up at my grandma and said,

"How do you get to zero?"

My grandma was confused, as we all were, and asked "From where?"

My grandad looked down before grumbling and saying,

"From anywhere."

I don't know why it stuck with me, cause I know he was just stuttering over his words, but it just...it had me thinking for a long time.

There's no real rhyme or reason that I put it in this story specifically, but I find it fun to experiment with, especially with this winning and losing.

The only way for me to win is by making sure there is only hate and loneliness with the main characters. The way you guys win is by making sure there is a happy ending.

And I do want to tell you, you get something if you win.
