𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐅 𝐀𝐍 π‡πŽπ”π‘ 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 π…πˆππƒπˆππ† out about the mummy; Hope, Josie, Lizzie, Alaric, and Nathaniel were on their- not so- merry way walking down main street. Doctor Saltzman walked before the four teenagers holding a crossbow in hand, and the nephilim could only feel the tension palpitating furiously from standing between Lizzie and Hope. There was a talk needed to be had there, and though it wasn't the time, Lizzie never seemed to care for it.

"Some people find it helps to clear their conscious before heading into battle," Lizzie started out, nonchalantly.

Nathaniel rolled his eyes. "Now's not the time."

And Josie agreed with a nod.

Lizzie scoffed. "It's always time for truth- last chance, Hope. If you didn't start that fire to keep us from going, why were you so mean to me after? I'll tell you why; because you were guilty."

"Quiet back there, please!" Alaric interfered.

But they weren't having any of it.

Hope made a face. "I wasn't mean to you; you were mean to me."

"Because you were telling people about my episode," Lizzie stated matter-of-factly, but ended the sentence in a small voice.

Nathaniel still heard.

But Hope didn't. "Your what?"

"My episode!" Lizzie exclaimed before taking a small pause. "The one I had when our trip got cancelled. You told everyone that I was witch-bipolar."

And Nathaniel couldn't really fight with that, because Hope had, in fact, gone there. And now, as the nephilim thought back on it, he came to realize it was one of the reasons Nathaniel started his dickish behavior towards Hope. It was an eye-opener. That though the tribrid was beautiful, she had mean-girl tendencies, which made her seem a bit rotten in his eyes.

Even then, Nathaniel's dislike for Lizzie was still prominent in their earlier years. But Nathaniel used to feel a sense of protectiveness towards Lizzie because he had considered her his sister at some point. Maybe not by blood, but all the same.

Which is why Nathaniel took Lizzie's side when Josie confessed to Hope's actions.

But it was in the past.

And they had grown from it.

Lizzie just couldn't let go.

"I would never do that," Hope instantly responded after the accusation.

Everyone halted their steps.

Why was she lying?

"Guys, seriously," Josie intervened, her worried eyes looking between the two girls. "What is the point of even talking about this-?"

Lizzie interrupted Josie before completely turning towards Hope. "Just drop the act. I had my first occurrence; my mom took me away to get help and you decided to use it against me."

"I didn't even know!" Hope seemed sincere as the tribrid cried out. "I swear I would never do that!"

"Guys-"

The screaming match took a pause as everyone's eyes landed on Josie.

"What?"

"There's a mummy on main street."

As eyes landed on the mummy, Alaric Saltzman took a second to lift his crossbow, pointing in its direction. From behind the headmaster; Lizzie, Josie, Hope and Nathaniel took their stance, waiting for the mummy to make its first move.

"Ric, move," Nathaniel instructed.

But Alaric wasn't having it. "I need to protect you. All of you."

Nathaniel snorted. "That's sweet. But you've got Satan's lovechild and three powerful witches behind that crossbow."

That seemed to get to Alaric.

"Good point."

And with that, the headmaster was out of the way.

There was a split second as the seven-feet tall mummy stopped in his tracks just a few meters from the supernaturals, and in the other half second, it opened its mouth to release what seemed to be a second try at the plague they had all seen earlier.

But Nathaniel wasn't going to let it get that far.

Using telekinesis, Nathaniel lifted both his hands to stop the insects heading their way, like a small forcefield that wouldn't let them pass. And in a second, the nephilim closed his eyes and the bugs were dropping like flies.

"Oh," Nathaniel huffed out a chuckled. "That has to make you so pissed."

The mummy roared.

"Should we rush it?" Lizzie asked urgently.

Nathaniel shook his head. "Wait."

The mummy began to walk towards them.

Lizzie gulped nervously. "I think we should rush-"

"On three," Hope interrupted.

But there wasn't a chance for Hope to even begin counting when the tribrid started coughing up beetles.

"Hope!" Nathaniel exclaimed.

And then Lizzie followed suit.

"Resistus maledi," Josie murmured as she put a hand over her mouth.

Nathaniel instantly put his hand out for Josie to grab and almost as promptly, the Gemini twin did, and with that, the brunette sister syphoned energy from the nephilim, readying herself for her next move.

"Josie, now!" Nathaniel urged.

"Ignalusa!"

With that, Josie blew fire from the palm of her hand and the mummy burst into flames, leaving nothing behind but a pile of light brown sand; with its creepy glowing green heart and the urn sat at the top of said pile. Nathaniel couldn't help but make a face.

Until the nephilim took notice in how the tribrid had stopped coughing up the bugs, and instantaneously, Nathaniel kneeled, holding Hope to his chest and checking for any longing damage.

"You okay?" Nathaniel asked.

Hope nodded.

Lizzie scoffed. "Worst spring break ever."

But it wasn't over.

According to Alaric, the Gemini twins still had to syphon the magic out of the mummy's heart because it was the thing that bound it to the curse. Which made sense. Nathaniel couldn't fight with that logic, and it seemed like everyone just wanted the whole thing to be over.

"Why can't we just give the mummy the urn?" Josie asked from inside Alaric's van. "Is opening the portal to Malivore really that bad?"

Nathaniel narrowed his eyes at the stupidity. "Why can't I just kill Landon? Is setting Lucifer free from his cage and him bringing on the apocalypse really that bad?"

Josie huffed.

And Hope made a face.

"I'm with Josie," Lizzie spoke up. "Why don't we skip bug vomit round two and just get some pancakes or something?"

Nathaniel rolled his eyes.

And before the nephilim could even begin to rip into Lizzie, the people inside the tents began to exit it in a panic. After they were all out, the mummy came out, wind gushing furiously all around him. Nathaniel was instantly on his feet.

"Nate," Alaric gave the nephilim a look.

And Nathaniel nodded, closing his eyes and using telekinesis to bring in the mummy's heart. When it laid glowing in the nephilim's hand, Nathaniel tossed it over to Josie, and without much, the twins began to syphon it.

"Hurry!" Hope urged.

When it was over, the mummy froze up.

And the curse was lifted.

The drive home served to make Nathaniel come into realization of two things. The first one the nephilim was almost completely certain on, and the other Nathaniel had never seen coming.

Number one wasn't all that surprising.

Agent Clarke was not to be trusted, the nephilim had already been suspicious on that, so when Clarke and his men came to retrieve the urn Alaric had asked Kaleb to compel someone to repossess the nephilim came to realize that from then on, he was to have his eyes completely set on that weird individual.

But number two; that's a whole different story.

Josie Saltzman- baby sister, compassionate twin, all around good girl- had lied.

And not just about something petty like Hope Mikaelson stealing Lizzie Saltzman's favorite bracelet. But something much bigger. The root of Nathaniel's long distaste for the Mikaelson tribrid. Which served as Lizzie's never-ending distaste for her as well.

Because Hope had never said a word about Lizzie's mental breakdown.

Josie had made it all up.

Witch-bipolar wasn't something that ever came out of Hope's mouth and Nathaniel's heart hurt that the nephilim ever believed that to be something the tribrid would say.

And even now, as Nathaniel fumed and made a B-line towards the twin's dorm room, Hope walked desperately behind the nephilim, pleading Nathaniel not to rip into Josie like the tribrid knew the nephilim could rip into Lizzie.

But Nathaniel was too far gone.

"Why would you drive a wedge between me and Hope?" Lizzie asked from inside the room.

And Nathaniel stood at the frame. "Yeah, why don't you give us a little insight on that?"

When Hope and Nathaniel's presence was taken into consideration, Josie's breathing hitched as she looked between the couple and her twin.

Josie exhaled. "I didn't just lie. I started the fire."

And if Nathaniel wasn't angry enough.

"Nate had confessed he liked Hope that day and I got upset," Josie continued, eyes welling some. "Lizzie made a remark about it. Said I was obsessed with Hope and I would have to compete with Nate. I just blurted out, 'how could I be obsessed with somebody who would say such mean things about my twin?'"

Hope's eyes narrowed. "But I didn't."

Nathaniel's jaw clenched. "You both made me feel so fucking awful following that."

"I know," Josie grimaced. "I made it up. I didn't want Lizzie, Hope or you to know the truth. I had a crush on her too and I just didn't-"

"You just didn't want me to go for it," Nathaniel spat, eyes narrowing on his sister. "You rather Lizzie hate Hope for something she didn't do and me for liking Hope. And to top it all off, bullying me into piling up so much fucking rage towards Hope so I wouldn't think about trying again."

Hope sighed. "Nate-"

"No," Nathaniel seethed. "This all falls on her and she knows it. That's why when I came to you on your birthday and confessed to you again that I was in love with Hope again, you tried to steer me away from it. You knew I'd find out."

Josie nodded; eyes red. "I slipped a note in her room that morning and... I don't know. I just immediately regretted it when Nate confessed but I couldn't get in by then. So, I did a fire spell under Hope's door. I was only really aiming for the note."

There was a silence.

Nathaniel scoffed. "You know I went to D.C because of Lizzie and yours' complete harassment right? Nate's such an asshole, I can't believe satan's lovechild could ever go against us, what's to expect? He's Lucifer's kid. You both never thought I would hear those, did you?"

"I'm so sorry, Nate," Lizzie spoke up.

Nathaniel snorted. "I'm sorry Josie ever made Hope into the villain of this story."

Josie put her head down.

"Nate, that's enough," Hope said.

Nathaniel shook his head. "This will never amount to the fucking trauma she caused. I treated her like shit because you lied!"

And really, Nathaniel couldn't stand to look at Josie. Even though the brunette witch was sorry, even though she apologized. Nathaniel could feel himself instantly being done with her. The nephilim had always been there for her, defended her against anything. And she went and did this.

"Go to hell."

With that, Nathaniel was stomping down the hall.
