Timothy gazed into the competitive eyes of Christopher and spoke firmly," Challenge accepted what are the rules?" He asked.

"This will be a two on two battle," Christopher replied his tone dripping in confidence."The winner will be determined when both Pokemon on one side are unable to battle."

"Alright, sounds good to me," Timothy said, looking at his three Pokemon.

"Good luck Timbo," Kristina said as she stood to the side." I will be the referee," She stated.

"Whatever, come on out, Noctisparow!" Christopher called out sending out his first Pokemon. 

The Pokemon that came out resembles a sleek, medium-sized bird with dark plumage. Its feathers have a subtle iridescent sheen, giving it an ethereal look in the moonlight. Its eyes are large and luminescent, with an almost hypnotic gaze. The wings are elongated and taper to sharp points, while the tail feathers are long and flowy, giving it a ghostly appearance. The beak is sharp and slightly curved.

"Let's check it out," Timothy said taking out his Pokedex and scanning the Pokemon Christopher sent out.

[Noctisparow, the Shadowbird Pokemon.  A flying type.  This nocturnal Pokémon is known for its eerie cries that can unsettle even the bravest souls. It prefers to stay hidden in the darkness of forests and graveyards, where it uses its keen eyesight to navigate the night. Legends say that Noctisparrow can predict the future through the patterns of the stars it observes during flight.]

"I see a flying," Timothy commented putting away his Pokedex."Aqua, I choose you," He said, nodding at Aqua. 

"Vulpix!" Aqua cried happily as she ran in front of her trainer ready to battle. 

"Noctisparow peck that little fox!" Christopher commanded, his voice laced with anticipation.

Noctisparow eyes gleamed ominously as it took flight, its wings flapping with an eerie glance. The bird dove towards Aqua with its beak pointed sharply, aiming to strike. 

"Aqua, dodge with Quick Attack!" Timothy shouted.

Aqua darted to the side with remarkable speed, evading Noctisparows peck. She then zipped forward with a burst of energy, striking Noctisparow directly and sending it skidding back.

"Don't just take that from the fox," Christopher said clearly annoyed the attack missed."Now use Astonish."

Noctisparow recovered quickly, letting out a chilling cry that caused the air around it to shiver. The eerie sound and sudden darkness enveloping Aqua caused her to flinch, momentarily disorienting her.

"Aqua shake it off and use Bubble!" Timothy commanded. 

Aqua shook her head despite being confused and focused her energy. She released a flurry of bubbles towards Noctisparow. The bubbles burst on impact, causing the ghostly bird to recoil.

"Impressive, but that's not enough," Chrispthor said with a smirk."Noctisparow, follow up with Gust!"

Noctisparow flapped its wings rapidly, creating a strong gust of wind that whipped towards Aqua. The Vulpix braced herself but was still pushed back by the force, her small frame struggling against the onslaught. 

Timothy clenched his fist, his eye narrowed in determination."Aqua, use Quick Attack to get into closer range and then use Hypnosis!" 

Aqua dashed forward, her speed making her a blur as she approached Noctisparow. She lept into the air, her eyes locking onto Noctisparow as they began to glow. A hypnotic wave emanated from Aqua, aiming to lull the opposing Pokemon to sleep.

Christoper's eyes widened slightly, sensing the danger."Noctisparow, don't fall asleep. Finish that fox with a final Gust!"

"Nocti!" Noctisparow cried out briefly snapping its eyes open before using Gust.

Noctisparow rapidly flapped its wings, sending a power gust of wind that whipped towards Aqua, and the sender crashed into a tree, knocking her out. Noctisparow's movement came to a slow before its eyes closed and the bird Pokémon fluttered to the ground and fell asleep. 

"Aqua and Noctisparow are both unable to continue!" Kristina called out.

"Great job now, rest Aqua," Timothy said, recalling Aqua.

Christopher gritted his teeth as he quickly recalled Noctisparow."Noctisparow you could have done better staying awake, but at least you took the fox dome as well, " He commented."Go Pupamp!"

He then threw another Pokeball, releasing a small quadrupedal puppy with a light blue body a dark purple underbelly, and yellow patches on its paws. It had a small mini floaty around its neck and a fluffy white tail. Its ears were white with purple on the inside. Pupamp stood ready to battle. 

"Let's have a quick look," Timothy said taking out his Pokedex again as he scanned Pupamp.

[Pupamp, the Float Puppy Pokémon. A water-type Pokemon.  Pupamp is a playful and energetic Pokémon often found near rivers and lakes. Its light blue body helps it blend into the water, while its dark purple underbelly is believed to help it warm in sunbathing. The small floaty around its neck keeps it buoyant, making it an excellent swimmer. Its fluffy white tail allows it to make sharp turns in water. Its paws are sensitive and help detect changes in water currents, and they are extremely loyal and will splash water anyone deems a treat to its trainer.]

​​​​​​'That is quite a Pokedex entry.' Timothy thought as he put away his Pokedex.

"Alright, Mina your up!" Timothy commanded. 

"Pikachu!" Mina cried out, ready to battle, as she jumped in front of her trainer, sparks dancing around her cheeks in anticipation.

Christopher's smirk widened, clearly enjoying the prospect of the upcoming battle that will determine the winner."Pupamp, start with Water Gun!" 

Pupamp barked excitedly and inhaled deeply, then released a powerful stream of water aimed directly at Mina.

"Mina, dodge it with Quick Attack!" Timothy instructed.

Mina lept to the side avoiding the Water Gun with agility and speed. She then charged forward, blurring as she approached Pupamp, delivering a swift tackle that pushed Pupamp back.

Christopher was quick to respond."Pupamp, use Tail Whip, then follow up with Bubble!" 

Pupamp wagged its tail cutely, causing Mina to lower her guard slightly, and then unleashed a stream of bubbles. The bubbles burst upon contact, surrounding Mina and causing minor damage, but the Pikachu stood firm her eyes locked on her opponent.

Timothy clenched his fists, feeling the tension of the battle."Mina, use Thundershock!"

Mina's cheeks sparked as she released a burst of electricity that surged towards Pupamp. The water-type puppy was hit squarely by the attack, shivering as the electricity coursed through his body.

Christopher's eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation."Pupamp hold your ground and use Water Gun!"

Pupamp shook off the residual electricity and prepared for another attack. It inhaled deeply and fired a stream of water at Mina.

"Dodge Mina, and then counter with Thunder Wave!" Timothy commanded.

Mina nimbly dodged the Water Gun and released a wave of electrical energy that enveloped Pupamp, causing it to stumble and struggle to move.

"Pupamp get up and use Bite!" Christopher commanded. 

Pupamp approached slowly from paralysis showing its sharp teeth ready to bite Mina with its teeth. 

"Mina, let it come closer, then finish this with Thundershock!" Timothy commanded. 

Mina waited until Pupamp was close, then released another burst of electricity. The Thundershock struck Pupamp with precision, and the Water-type Pokémon crumpled to the ground, unable to continue.

"Pupamp is unable to battle!" Kristina called out."The winner is Timothy!" She announced happily that her best friend won.

"You got lucky, Timothy. However, don't think you beat me," Christopher said, recalling Pupamp."I got more where that came from and will become the best of the best being the champion son. Next time we meet, we have a three-on-three," He stated, walking off.

"That Christopher has always gotten think he the best," Kristina commented. 

"Hey, don't worry, we show him even more. He not all that next time," Timothy said, returning to Kitvine, who had been silently watching the battle.

"Pikachu!" Mina cried in agreement jumping onto Timothy's shoulder.

"Yeah, let's get going before it gets late. We should try to get to Twisted Forest before it gets dark," Kristina commented. 

"Agree," Timothy agreed.

Timothy and Kristina then headed off towards the path of the Twisted forest.

So here is the ninth chapter of The Challenges of Becoming a Normal-type Master.  Timothy has a two-to-two battle against his rival Christopher with Timothy ending up in a win for the first rival battle. Now Timothy and Kristina continue their journey to Moonfall City, but first, they must get through the Twisted forest.
