Prologue

Note: So because of V and Jackie's relationship in CP2077, I was thinking of having him be part of MHA, probably in class 1-B and then their friendship will come from their school years. It would make him slightly younger and his near-fatal gunshot that had him leaving the Valentinos would have occurred earlier too, possibly at 17 which pushed him to join UA to become a hero-merc instead. Other than Rogue I haven't decided on quirks for Cyberpunk characters, but bringing in Jackie earlier, I will have to figure it out for him, ideas welcome for him, as well as Misty, Judy, Panem, River, Takemura and Viktor. Johnny's won't matter too much as I don't think that would remain when in construct but it would be a nice little background note.

.....

Note #2: Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot of specific slang to the game, and I will link in a good glossary for you guys to reference if you don't know. Also feel free to ask in a comment.

Vivi Aizawa shakes out her hair as she leaves her bedroom, the door hissing as it opens and then closes behind her. She's dressed in an outfit that she likely wouldn't wear during the day. The skirt just a little too short. The top just a little too tight. The heels just a little too high. But she has plans for the night. Dinner with her high school friends before they all go their separate ways. Two are going travelling, leaving Night City behind them, forever if they get their wish. Another is going off to work for Arasaka. Two others are getting married as soon as they can. And Vivi has her own plans. So it will leave very little time for friendship in the years to come. They are taking one last night to enjoy their friendship, whilst they can.

Vivi stops in front of the bedroom window to peer out at the city beyond. The neon lights shining and illuminating the darkening night sky. She closes her eyes and focuses her ears on the soft music that plays from the living space to entertain her as she gets ready for her evening. She can feel the warmth on her face from the lights even here, well, she can imagine the warmth from the lights. She lets out a breath through her nose and opens her eyes before she pushes away from the window, grabbing her make-up bag from the sill before she makes her way into the living space. The lights dimmed to allow the neon outside to shine through the window. She loves the neon lights. The colors of them anyway. Some of the imagery needs some work.

As she enters the living room, her eyes are instantly drawn to the one thing that is out of place, the one thing that is not part of the apartment she is used to. There, sitting on the coffee table, is a small velvet box with the UA logo on the top. She was expecting it but it still seems to surprise her that it is here, waiting for her. She lets out a breath before she sets down her make-up bag, dropping it onto the couch as she sits down. She has been waiting for this box to arrive for a while now. But also, part of her feared it wouldn't come. Going to UA College has been her ambition and her dream for many years now. It's a hard dream to have in Night City. But then again having any kind of dream in Night City is inadvisable. Dreams are easily crushed. Torn apart. Blown up. But this is one that she is determined to see through. To become a hero. To go into hero-merc work. To become a living legend. She takes a deep breath and picks up the box. Her fingers drawing over the symbol softly before she opens it up. There is a note on the inside of the lid of the box with her name and a small message about looking forward to seeing her for her first year and if she has any questions then she can contact them. Though she does have Aizawa for that. Her father has been a great soundboard for questions and ideas and dreams for her. He has been there to keep her grounded in a way. To remind her what is within her reach. And maybe becoming a living legend is a little out of her reach, her becoming a decent hero-merc is not. And her path starts with UA. And thanks to Aizawa, she went through the recommendation path rather than the general admittance path. And she did well enough to be given her place, but part of her still expected them to change their minds about her. She knows she is strong and she has the skills she needs to succeed as a hero and a mercenary. But that fear is still there.

Vivi touches the shard that sits in the center of the box. This shard will have all the data she needs in regards to her starting UA in a couple of weeks. It will have her accommodation information, supply needs, shard-book lists, cyberware requirements etc. Basically anything they have thought to inform them of before their first term begins. She picks it up and turns it around in her hand. She slides the shard into the socket behind her ear and the information streams across her eyes for her to read. Allowing her to take in the data. Her eyes linger on the timetable on display. Her classes for the year. Aizawa has talked her through most of them, to inform her of what is to come and what is to be expected of her. A few catch her interest. The foundational hero studies. The netrunning. She knows that the first year will mostly be theoretical for a lot of the subjects relating to hero and mercenary work. A taster for them. And then if they want, they can choose to take them in the second, third and fourth years to learn some more practical skills. Netrunners have always interested her, mostly because they look so cool in their suits and she likes the idea of getting lost in cyberspace to escape the real world. She's also excited to develop her quirk and her physical abilities. She's actually excited for all of it. Her eyes flicker as she moves through the rest of the files, filling herself in on everything she needs to know.
