Ten Part two

Linda and Tuck walked through the town of Nottingham, trying their best to blend in. Robin had already ran off, trying to find away around the castle to make his triumphant entrance. All part of the plan.

The plan... Linda liked it, though it was mainly because Tuck had planned it out, and knowing him, it would work. Her and Tuck were to enter the castle, rescuing the three outlaws. While Tuck would talk and the sun would disappear, Linda would blend in with dark and cut John, Allan, and Much free. Robin would make his grand entrance when the sun appeared, thus shocking Vaisey, the envoy... Guy... and the citizens. But they had to all of this without getting caught, not getting caught was the main obstacle because Linda was not supposed to be seen with Robin and the outlaws in the first place. Tuck had easily fixed that problem by giving Linda a cloak with a very large hood, concealing her completely.

Yes, it would work.

Tuck and Linda made it to the gate, where a big group of people were waiting. The gates opened, and everyone swarmed inside. Struggling to keep her balance, Linda clung into Tuck, who grabbed her from behind and pulled her through the crowd. Then she gasped and stopped moving.

"Tuck, hide me!" she squeaked.

Guy of Gisborne was scanning the crowd, obviously looking for her. He knew that Linda never ever missed Vaisey's fail of an execution, who wouldn't? But now, she didn't want his company, as painful as it was.

Tuck put her behind him, silently making his way through the crowd. Linda looked up at the sky, hoping that Robin would get on the roof on time. She then looked to the sun, the hood barely protecting her eyes. The moon would soon cover it... hopefully really, really soon.

Vaisey's words snapped her from her trance. "Fire!"

Linda watched as the guards loaded the harpoon, then let the arrow loose. It landed nearly inches from the gang, and they all scurried to the left. Turning around sharply so that she was facing Tuck, Linda started to breathe heavily.

"That was too close," she said quietly. "When are you supposed to intervene?"

"Soon," said Tuck with a light smile.

Linda frowned. Looking up, she also smiled. It was getting darker, but not too dark yet for Linda to go out from the crowd.

"Let's do it!" said Vaisey. "This time, let's make it flaming."

"Now. Tuck, go."

"Wait!" cried Tuck. Pushing past everyone, he stopped at the bottom of the steps where Guy, Vaisey, and the Prince's "special envoy" (so to speak, at least. Linda considered him to be a follower of Price John... like so many other people she knew) were, and took off his hood. "A last prayer, Sir Guy. We must bemerciful, no matter how great the crime."

"Who are you, preacher man?" asked Linda's father with a confused look.

"Brother Tuck," Linda heard Guy say flatly, crossing his arms across his chest. "We can trust him. He's the one who brought these outlaws to justice." Guy pointed to John, Much, and Allan, who were glancing at each other trying to figure out what was going on, while Linda tried her best to get closer to the group... all while trying to blend with the crowd, too.

"Sheriff, it is sinful to offer no chance of absolution," said Tuck, walking up the stairs slightly.

Linda watched and crossed her fingers as Vaisey and the envoy exchanged a look to each other, shrugging.

"Very well. Chop, chop," said Vaisey, tapping the top of his wrist. "These boys have got a hot date."

Tuck nodded, and turned around. Glancing up at the sky, Linda saw him smirk. It was getting darker now. Tuck then bowed his head, and started speaking Latin, Linda quietly making her way to the outlaws. When she was close enough, she snapped her fingers to get their attention.

"Psst!" she hissed. "Guys!"

John, Much, and Allan looked her way, frowning. Linda lifted her hood back a little bit so they could see her eyes, and they smiled at her. She brought a finger to her lips, and pointed to the sky. Frowning again, they looked up. The moon was almost over the moon, but it was dark still.

"All right, all right, that's enough of the piety," said an annoyed Sheriff. "No amount of la-di-da words can save their blackened souls. Fire now!"

"Wait!" shouted Tuck. Lighting a flare, he ran out to the center of of Nottingham, standing in front of the harpoon and the outlaws. "In the name of God, wait!"

"What are you doing?!" screamed Guy, uncrossing his hands and leaning forward slightly.

"You and your master, Prince John, have broken not just man's law, but The Lord's, and for this you will be punished," said Tuck, pointing to Guy, the Sheriff, and the envoy.

"What?!" screamed Gisborne again, drawing his sword.

"Monk's been on the mushrooms -- fire now!" yelled Vaisey, standing up from his chair now.

No, he's been on more than mushrooms, thought Linda with a small smile.

"Soon God will speak," said Tuck to everyone, walking and circling around now. "The skies will darken, and the sun will disappear."

Linda waited, and the skies did in fact darken completely, and all that could be seen was Tuck's flare. The townsfolk started talking amongst themselves in scared voices, hugging one another and bringing them close.

"He was right..." Linda whispered to herself.

"There. It's happening. Have faith! For soon a new day will dawn, and you will be saved!" cried Tuck, trying to calm everyone down.

"What's happening?" asked the envoy.

"It's a trick," answered her father.

Linda watched as Guy grabbed a torch from a guard, looking around worriedly .

"Hood?" he asked slowly, his eyes wandering.

"Fire," said Vaisey. "Fire now!"

"For out of this darkness, a new legend will rise! Hope will be reborn!" cried Tuck once more.

"Want something done properly..." said Vasiey, taking Guy's torch and going downstairs. "Filthy peasants!" shouted Vaisey. "Don't anybody touch me! Stay away!"

My turn!

Linda, now fully blended in the dark, snuck through the crowd and advanced toward the tied up outlaws. Quickly and quietly, she cut the rope that held them together first, then cut them from their own bonds. Signaling them to follow her, she led them to an alleyway, where she explained the rest of the plan to the boys. Grabbing a sheet now, she looked up. The sun was appearing, and that meant Robin should be, too...

"He has returned! The legend has returned!" Linda heard Tuck cry.

"Let's go! It's our turn to save the day," said Linda.

All of them busted out of the alleyway, finding that Linda's father was stuck to the board that John, Tuck, and Much were originally on, and that the people were cheering wildly.

"Robin, a gift from the Sheriff!" Linda heard Tuck call, and then he tossed two bags in the air.

Robin burst them open with his arrows, and gold fell to the floor. But then two guards came advancing toward him. Linda raised her knife and put it next to her ear, aiming carefully. Then she let it loose, where it embedded into a guards chest, him falling dead to the floor. Robin looked down, smiling at Linda. She did a little solute to him jokingly, to which he smiled even more. Throwing his bow to the side, he jumped. Quickly, Linda grabbed a corner of the sheet that the outlaws had spread out. Robin landed on it, then bounced off. John, her, Allan, and Much then used the sheet to throw the remaining gold into the crowd. She was about to follow the outlaws to make their triumphant escape, but she was stopped.

"No! Robin, no!" yelled Tuck.

Spinning around, Linda's eyes widened when she saw Robin advancing to Guy, who was helplessly stuck to the door. Rushing over, she managed to get there right when Robin raised a knife to end Guy's life. Stepping in front of Guy so that her back was turned to him, she grabbed Robin's arm, trying to keep him from killing Guy. Robin struggled, and tried to meet her eyes the giant hood. Tilting her head up a little bit, she gave Robin a look. Robin frowned, and then gave her a look of disappointment.

"Fine. We will do it your way," he muttered.

Linda slowly let go of him. Tilting her head back down so her face was concealed again, she moved to stand next to him. Robin returned the knife back to Guy's throat, sneering.

"You want this?" Robin questioned, gritting his teeth.

"I live in hell," said Gisborne with a look of fear and sadness on his face.

"Then stay there," Robin said menacingly. Removing the knife from Guy's throat, Robin cut Gisborne's cheek, leaving a nasty scar. Guy let out a cry of pain, and Linda winced. Robin then turned around, huffing.

"That better?" said Robin.

Linda rolled her eyes and nodded. Grabbing his hand, she led him to the exit where the outlaws were waiting for him. Allan handed Robin his bow, and they ran out of Nottingham. But before they left, Linda looked back, her heart breaking when she saw Guy still stuck to the wall, his face full of pain.

I will be back, she promised.

Then she followed the others to Sherwood.
