{46} - Mitch
-~-~-
Mitch felt a bit awkward.
He was alone with his girlfriend's best friend, and normally stuff didn't end well if that was the case. Carla must have felt the same way, because she looked like she was trying to avoid any means of communication with him. "So, what happened to Lachlan's arm?" Mitch asked hesitantly.
"I don't know. . ." Carla sighed as she placed a hand over her forehead, her fingers rubbing her temples. "I just came home to him being sober and his arm was bleeding, then, he passed out."
Mitch frowned, "That sounds pretty bad."
"It was, and imagine having to clean up his mess." Carla sighed, "Doesn't sound very fun now does it."
"No, well, at least you don't have to take care of a baby." Mitch laughed as he slowly rocked the baby carrier as if it were a rocking chair.
"Her name's Samantha, right?" Carla asked as she looked down at her.
"Yeah, I'm surprised you even know." Mitch said.
"Well, I'm always with Rose, of course she's going to bring up her daughter."
Mitch frowned, "I know but, she never brags about her around too many people. Whenever someone compliments her about Samantha, she either cuts the conversation short or she changes the subject. . . It's as if she's pretending that she doesn't even have her."
Carla looked at him, confusion written on her face, "Really? Well, I don't know what to say to that Mitch, I mean I may be her friend, but I don't know what she thinks."
"I figured, it's fine though." Mitch sighed, until his eyes looked up to see a person he knew from a long time ago.
Seto.
Mitch bit his lip, almost forgetting that his fellow friend was a cop along with Jason. He looked at Carla, muttering, "Can you keep an eye on Samantha while I go talk to Seto real quick?"
Carla looked at him in confusion, but she shrugged and agreed. Mitch got up from his seat, slowly making his way to where the perplexed-looking police man was standing. Mitch cleared his throat, "Hi Seto."
Seto looked up to face Mitch, and he looked as if his lungs weren't working properly. But he kept his cool, "Hello Mitch, what are you doing here?"
"I'm just accompanying Rose to speak to you all about Rob. . ." Mitch answered, awkwardness lingering between the two.
"Oh, right. . ." Seto murmured. "Anyway, why do you want to talk to me?"
Mitch knew the question was not meant to be harsh, but he still didn't feel confident. He placed his hands in his pockets, "Actually, there's something I have to tell you. . ."
"What is it?" Seto asked.
Mitch opened his mouth to say something, but he felt two eyes stare at him, and he knew they weren't Seto's. He looked up, facing the hallway Rose went to, and his mind began thinking, 'What the hell are you doing? Say something!'
But he thought about the consequences.
He knew Rose wasn't exactly the most forgiving person in the world. Hell, if someone did something she will never forget, she'll hunt them down even if it took her years. But she wasn't a forgivier, that's for sure. Mitch licked his dry lips as he looked at a patient Seto, "U-Uh, you know what. . .
" Nevermind, I have nothing to say. "
