{35} - Ty

-~-~-

The only reason Ty agreed to follow the warden right away, wasn't just for safety purposes.

He genuinely didn't know why she would visit him. Was she going to basically yell at him? Or rant about how she hates him even more than she might have before? Ty winced at the possibilites, but his curiosity kept him going. He walked into a room he had never been too before. Tables were scattered around randomly, while other people came to visit the doomed souls that were stuck inside of this hellhole, which made Ty feel even worse. He turned his attention to a specific table, though. There was a girl around his age, her hands tapping the table nervously. Ty cleared his throat as he walked up to her, catching her attention almost immediately. It was Annie. She bit her lip, "Hi, Ty."

Ty tensed as he sat down across from her, allowing him to look at her face-to-face, "Hello Annie. . ."

There was an uncomfortable silence, and the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Annie then cleared her throat, ". . . Ty, I just want you to know that, I know that you weren't the one who killed Quentin. . ."

Ty raised his eyebrows, ". . . You. . . You actually. . ."

"You heard me." Annie said. "I believe that you are innocent, or am I not correct?"

"No no no! You are totally correct! I-It's just that. . . You're one of the first people to. . ."

"Oh. . . I mean, I guess I understand." Annie murmured as she lowered her voice. "Now, hear me out. I really think you are innocent, and I truly want to help you out of here."

"You do? Oh that's great." Ty beamed, his glum and pathetic frown slowly turning into a large smile.

"That doesn't mean you can't have your trial, though. That's a first." Annie noted, her expression cold and blank.

"I know but, damn, I just can't wait to tell Jocelyn about this." Ty grinned.

Annie frowned and looked down at her peach-colored hands, "Jocelyn isn't here, though. Chances are she won't be coming back until you're free."

Ty tilted his head, ". . . I don't get what you mean. . . ?"

"What I mean is, Jocelyn can get scared easily, and I'm very well aware that you know this too." Annie looked at him, her lips pursed.

Ty sighed, "And? What about it? It doesn't mean she's capable of bailing on me, or is she?"

"Ty, I don't know, that's for you to figure out." Annie commented. "And besides, this case is already closed. I know you are innocent because Jocelyn is a witness, and she told me before that you and her walked out to therapy."

"She did? Oh that's great. I can't wait to leave this place." Ty said, his voice full of relief.

"Now there Ty. . ." Annie began as she tapped her fingers on the table,

" Don't jinx yourself. "
