"I don't like this place"
Rob continued walking, but he had to agree with Mat; the jail did give Rob a bad vibe. They were going to visit Jerome, at least, that's what Preston did earlier. Every person there gave them an eerie look as they passed by with the police man, whom quietly escorted Mat and Rob towards the calling booth.
They both sat down on the chairs, waiting patiently. Rob couldn't help but wonder why they came here in the first place, was it curiosity that struck him? Or the fact that he hasn't seen his good friend in months? Whatever it was, he regrets it a bit, since he had a very bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
All of a sudden, he saw a silhouette's shadow emerge from the other side of the calling area. It was Jerome. Rob couldn't help but feel a sudden weight of glumness and dread. This didn't feel right. Just as Rob picked up the phone, Jerome said, "You have no idea, what I've been through."
Rob closed his eyes and grinned, "Well, it's nice hearing from you again."
The corner of Jerome's mouth curled into a returning grin, "Same goes for you dude, a whopping five months is a pretty big gap, isn't it?"
Although Rob has his intentions of giving Jerome a welcoming hello, Mat wasn't that amused, "Hey Jerome, having fun here?"
"Mat, not now." Rob whispered harshly, looking at Mat in the corner of his eye.
"No, it's fine, let him talk." Jerome responded angrily. "If he doesn't want to be here, then let him go, I didn't give a shit anyway."
Mat bit his lip, and he looked away in frustration. After a few seconds, Mat looked at Jerome again, his eyes narrow in annoyance, "Fine, be like that. But no friend of mine belongs behind bars, unlike you."
Jerome raised an eyebrow, "So, I'm not considered a friend to you anymore?"
"No," Mat began, his eyes glinting in anger, "You're far from that, you're an idiot who deserves to rot in a cell."
"Mat," Rob snarled, glaring at Mat, "Just because Emily is your sister, doesn't mean you can go ahead and toss Jerome around like a piece of garbage."
"That's exactly what he is Rob. Hell, I don't even know why we even visited this idiot in the first place." Mat said, glaring at them both.
"Then go you piece of-"
"Can you two just shut UP." Rob shouted, glaring at both Mat and Jerome, whom gave each other uncertain looks. "You both are acting like five year olds!"
Mat groaned and looked away, crossing his arms and leaning against his chair. Rob rolled his eyes and looked at Jerome again, his hands together in patience, "So, Jerome. Preston informed me that you need to talk to me, er, us, is that correct?"
Jerome blinked a bit, trying to regain his memory, "Oh, right, yeah I do need you."
"What is it then?" Mat asked irritably.
"Well, this may be a really crazy question and you'll think I'm a retard." Jerome said, looking around for any policemen or anyone that could hear what he was about to say next.
"Get on with it! What do you need?" Mat asked impatiently, tapping his fingers against his own arms.
Jerome looked at them and whispered the following, taking Rob by an unfortunate surprise,
"I need you guys to help me escape."
