- First day of school
I look up at the ceiling as my mother hugs me tight. "Ah! You look so beautiful in your school uniform!!" She cries. I laugh, "Eomma, it's just my first day, it's nothing important." I tell her. "Not true Jennie, this year you get to let your self shine. You're the head of theatre!" She says, reminding me.
I've been in drama all my years of school, I absolutely love it. This year they made me head actress, meaning that I can pick what ever role I want when ever there is a play coming up. "You're right!" I say. "I'm so excited, I can't wait until we get to go see your plays and I get to record your beautiful face and put it on a video and send it to all your aunts and uncles." She starts to cry.
"Eomma, I sure hope you won't send it to everyone." I say. She cries for everything, my mother is one of the over dramatic sentimental people. Kind of like me, but I'm just over dramatic. Well, that's at least what Unnie Jisoo tells me. I honestly don't think so, but hey, we all have a different way of thinking.
"No, no, I would. I want all of our family to know how absolutely amazing you are." She says wiping her eyes. I grin. "Ah! We're late! Misun wanted me to take you over to her house so you and Jungkook can take pictures!" I nod and grab my bag. "Okay, Eomma." I smile and we head out of the house.
I honestly think it's cute that my mother is excited about today. That's why she woke me up so early, just so that she can take pictures of me. And I'm sure it will be a long time until Jungkook and I can walk together to school. When we get to the house, Jungkook's mother answers the door. "Oh, my goodness." Gosh, here it goes again.
"Jennie, you look absolutely beautiful." She says. I smile, "Thank you." I say and she pulls me into a hug. "Come in, come in. Jungkook is just grabbing his lunch bag." She tells us and we walk into the house. The second Jungkook walks into the room my mom starts crying again. "OOOOOOOOH JUNGKOOK!" she cries.
I can't stop myself from laughing, Jungkook looks absolutely terrified. He looks shookith. "Oh, hahaha." He laughs at himself when he realizes that it's just my mother. "Jungkook! I'm getting flashbacks of when you were just a little boy, crying because Jennie bit you!" I can't stop laughing. What my mom is literally crying about is completely irrelevant to this moment.
My mom pulls Jungkook into a tight hug, and he laughs out of breath before he looks at me. A huge smile on his face. I smile back and my mother finally let's go of him. "Yah! Yah! Jennie! Come over here! We need to take many pictures." My mother says. Misun, Jungkook's mother, lightly pushes me to Jungkook.
"Let's do the traditional kindergarten picture remake." My mother suggests. "Eoooomma!" I whine, "We're going to be graduates! This is so embarrassing." I tell her. "Jennie, do it. Now." She tells me, and I obey. "One, two, three." And Jungkook and I throw out heads back like we're crying. I could break out in a fake cry right now, but that's a waste of tears.
"Perfect, now Jungkook, put your arm around Jennie." His mother instructs. We go back to normal and I wrap my arms around him, he light wraps his arm around me. "One, two, three." Our mother's say together and we both smile. "You both look so grown up!" My mother starts to cry again for the hundredth time today.
"Eomma, we'll be late." Jungkook tells his mother. "Okay, go." She says, Jungkook and I quickly grab our things and say our good byes before running out of the house. I hear him laughing, I look at him and chuckle. "Thanks, if it weren't for you we'd never get to school." I say. He nods and smiles, "It's only normal for parents to act that way." He says.
We walk together. "You think that we'll get out classes together this year?" I ask. He shrugs, "Maybe, it happens every year." He says, which is true. On our way to the school we pass by the playground we played at all our childhood years. I smile, "Watch out for the Goblins Kookie." I whisper, I hear him chuckle.
"Agh, those ugly things? I can beat them up in a second." He says. "Sure Kookie." I roll my eyes. "Honest! I've been working out." He says as we walk pass the ice cream shop, I never liked that ice cream but Kookie loves it so much. My eyes fall to his torso, mm, true. I've noticed his body becoming toner.
I shrug and look ahead as we see other students in uniforms. "Ah! Chaeyoung!" I call her. She turns, she had reddish orange hair. "I love your hair! It's really adorable." I tell her. She smiles. "Ooooh, thank you. I wanted something different." She says. She tilts her body to the side. "Hi Jungkook." She greets.
He grins and waves. "Is he always going to be shy around girls? How does he expect to find a girlfriend?" She whispers to me. I shrug. "He only talks to me because we've know each other-","Since like the womb I know." She rolls her eyes. Jungkook falls behind. "Aye, do you think if I try out for the school choir I'll make it?" She asks. I raise an eyebrow.
"Ah, duh! You'll obviously make it, but I thought that you'd try out for theatre." I tell her. She shakes her head, "That's your thing." She says. True, I'd be better than her anyways. I look behind me to see Jimin talking to Jungkook. "Jimin said he'd walk me to school but I saw you." Chaeyoung she smiles. I'm honestly jealous of what I see in her eyes. "You're so lucky, I hope I find someone this year and have this look in my eyes like you do." I confess.
She let's out a breath, "You know, its nothing to rush. I really can't stress it enough, if you rush it. It will be a mess." She explains. I smile. "I think your hair would look really pretty with light brown highlights. Like nothing too intense." She says. I grab a strand of my hair and look at it. "You really think so?" I ask. She nods. I smile. "I'll think about it, but I'm sure my mom won't approve. You're so lucky that your parents let you dye all your hair." I say.
"It's okay, your mom is just over protective, she doesn't want you to grow up so fast." She says, and it makes me think a lot about how my mother was crying so much this morning. I think she's right.

"Dude, just don't be so quiet. That's your problem." Jimin says. I look at him. "I'm not quiet." I tell him, he frowns. "Yes you are, that's why you haven't made a move" He asks. "And? I'm taking my time." I say. He shrugs. "I guess, that's why she's not yours." He says. I stare at him for a while then look ahead at Jennie.
"What should I do then?" I ask. "I honestly can't help you with that dude, she's a whole different type of girl. The type of girl that likes things only her way and she's super bossy." My eyebrows knit. "She's not like that." Jimin laughs. "I've known you both since I was little and she likes to boss around everyone." He says.
"Stop." I whisper to him. "Man, you need to keep your options open. You can't just follow her around everywhere. At least start by saying hi to other girls who aren't her." Jimin explains. "But I know I'll be with her." I say. He rolls his eyes and shakes his head. "BOOY! You have to be realistic here, you're like her brother. And she's way different than you." He says.
"Just face it Jungkook, no one is shipping you two together. Probably not even her." He says as he runs up to the wall where they have the classes posted, everyone was already crowding. A little while later I see him walk away with Chaeyoung under his arm. I see Jennie stand away from the crowd, she of course isn't going to stand in the crowd. I stare at her for a while, I shouldn't let what this short mochi was saying to me, making me second think my love for Jennie.
I see many people go up to her, they're probably her theatre friends. The crowd finally goes down and I walk up to the papers posted on the wall. I find my name and look for her name, I stare at it hoping that this wasn't true. For the first time in our whole lives, Jennie and I aren't in the same homeroom, and when you're not in the same homeroom that means your not in any class together. At all.
"Awe, I have theatre homeroom." She says. I'm about to turn to her when she runs off with her friends. I'm left by myself. In a way, I guess that mochi is right. Not about talking to other girls, cause that's never going to happen. But, I can see it as having other friends. I mean, Jimin is my friend, but he has a girlfriend and doesn't quite understand where I'm coming from.
Well, it's not that I don't respect his advice, I just think that he's wrong about Jennie and I. And thought we've know each other since we were little, he's obviously has grown apart from us. That's why he doesn't understand, my love for Jennie is strong. I have high hope that Jennie would one day feel the same. I walk up to the third floor where the upper class men's courses are.
I find my class and walk inside, I don't know anybody. I walk in and look around, I decide that I'll sit in the back of the class. I feel eyes on me, I don't quite know why, but many people are staring at me. I make my way up to the back row and set my things down.
I sit down and mind my own business, though it's kind of hard when several girls are looking at me. Can they look away? Please? I look down at my nails, they're chewed down. I decide to get a pencil out and a notebook to distract myself from everything. Luckily, the teacher walks in and we all stand up and bow to her.
"Good morning class, I hope everyone had a great summer, we're back for your last school year before you graduate and go onto better things. Hopefully." She says. "I'm Mrs. Rey." She smiles. "Let's get started." She announces. This is going to be a long day.

•Lunch•
I grab my lunch and look around, where's Jennie? I've got to admit, I'm a lost puppy when it comes to having no other friends than her. I spot her at a filled table, probably all her theatre friends. I see a spot next to her, I smile to myself. She kept a spot for me. I start to walk towards the table, only to be knocked out of the way by a boy who instantly walks up to the table and takes the spot.
She looks at him and smiles and he smiles back. He seemed to have a weird shaped smile. I stare with envy, I was nobody to her. "Jungkook." I turn to the sound of my name being called. It's Chaeyoung and Jimin. I force myself to walk up to them, great. I'm a third wheel. "Left out from Jennie and her new friends?" She asks. I nod and sit down in front of them.
"You don't talk much, well. To me." She says. I bite my lip and look down at my food. "Oh, don't take it personally baby. Jungkook isn't himself when he's without Jennie." Jimin says. I look up at him right away. "I've just never really talked to you that's all, I know your boyfriend more than I know you." I actually say words. I try to make it seem that what Jimin is saying, isn't true. She raises her eyebrows. "Haha, most words I've ever heard out of you." She says.
"Yup, he's a quiet one. Don't take it personally, he's Jennie's puppy." Jimin says making me mad. I just grab my chop sticks and start to eat my food. "Do you like Jennie?" She asks, and I try my best not to choke on my rice. I just chew my food. "That's a dumb question, of course you like Jennie. She's so perfect, and you've known her all your life." She smiles. "I see it in your eyes." She says.
"Of course it's obvious that he likes her, I've known him all my life and he's always falling on his knees for her." Jimin says smiling at me. "Oh, stop. He's in love Jiminie, let him be. I think it's cute." Chaeyoung says smiling as she leans into him. He stares at me. "But don't you think that he should keep his options open?" He asks, great, this topic again.
"He's right Jungkook, that girl is something else. Not saying she's out of your league." She says. I just sit there. "Ah, Jungkook. Come on, don't be like that, we're just telling you the truth." Jimin says. I chew my food before answering him. "Should I join a sport to make more friends?" I ask, ignoring everything they both said.
"What sport are you thinking about?" Jimin asks. I bite my lip and think for a while. "Baseball." I say. He shrugs, Jimin does track. "You should join track, baseball isn't till later on in the school year. You'll make lots of friends there, try outs are tonight no papers needed until you get on the team. And plus, I want to see if you can catch up with me." He smiles. I raise an eyebrow. "I'm taller than you." He instantly frowns.
"Shut up." He says making me laugh, even Chaeyoung laughs. "I'll check it out.." I whisper eating my food.
**
I sit with all my friends once I get into homeroom. I had totally forgotten to ask Jungkook what class he has. Eh. I'll ask him when school ends. "Good morning my little shining stars!" Mr. Kim greets. He's the theatre teacher, he's such a handsome man. Some would say he should be international handsome, if he isn't already. If he were my age, I'd totally date him.
"Ah!! Jennie! Please stand up, let's show all the students whose the stage leader and leading lady." I stand up and wave to everyone. All my friends holler. "This class will definitely be fun with our Jennie running the stage." Mr. Kim adds. "And our male lead, Kim Taehyung." I freeze when a handsome guy stands up.
He had many girls drooling, I raise an eyebrow. Who does this guy think he is? Where is he from? I don't ever remember seeing him around school, I'd remember a hot guy like him. He looks at me and grins. "Kim Taehyung has been in a performing arts school all his life, but he wanted to enroll in a normal school and picked this one. So we are very grateful to have you here Taehyung." Mr. Kim says catching his attention. "Thank you for letting me audition for your class." He says.
Oh. God. His voice. It's so deep. I'm staring too long! I look at Mr. Kim. "I thought that we should start the first day of class with the leads giving us a small show." He says. Everyone cheers. Ha, I can show this kid who he's messing with. Just because he's from a performing arts school doesn't mean anything.
"Jennie, over the summer you had chosen the play of Romeo and Juliet. So I wrote up my own version of the play." Mr. Kim says. I nod. "Up on stage you two please." He says. And Taehyung and I walk up on stage. Mr. Kim comes from upper stage wth scripts. I look over mine and my eyes widen, a kiss!? I've never kissed someone in a play. Was this even allowed? Ugh, Jennie. Don't let this faze you.
I look up and get right into character, "Romeo, we can fight this, we have to be together." I say staring at Taehyung's face. He let's out a low breath and walks toward me with such confidence. It was like he lived on the stage all his life.
He sets his hand on my cheek, I hear screeching in the audience. Possibly my friends, but I don't break character. "Who said I wasn't fighting?" He asks. I set my hand on his that touched my face, "And if our parents don't approve?" I ask. His jaw clinches and he reaches his hand behind my neck, his other arm wrapping around me. I left my hand on his arm.
"Then we run away together, we don't look back. We show them that we are meant to be together." His eyes drop to my lips. "I'm not losing you." He says. I seemed to be drawn in, he inches forward and so do I. "BRILLIANT!!!" Mr. Kim cheers forcing us apart. Taehyung let's go of me but grabs my hand as he bows and I bow with him. The class is hollering.
"I'm very excited to see you both on stage together. This is definitely the star couple I've been looking for!" Mr. Kim says with such enthusiasm. I find myself smiling. Wait, he's still holding my hand. Uuuuumm. "You two can go back to your seats." Mr. Kim says. Taehyung let's go of my hand and I walk back to my seat.
I sit back next to my friends and they all shriek as they shake my arms. I smile. "You're so lucky." They whisper. "I know." I say slowly looking over my shoulder and seeing Taehyung already looking at me with a smile.
**
•Lunch•
"Yes! Did you see how he just touched my face? I was trying so hard not to die up there." I confess. "He's so hot, if he doesn't have a girlfriend I'm going to be shookith." I nod. I set my bag next to me, I wondered if he'd want to sit next to me. When I look up I see Taehyung walking up to me.
"He's coming, he's coming. Act cool." I say. "Duh, acting is our thing." My friends say. I smile, when he's up to the table it gets quiet and I act like I'm eating. "Hey, is this seat taken?" I hear him ask. I look up at him and smile. "Nope." I say, moving my bag and he gladly joins me.
"You did great today." He says looking at home. I pull my hair behind my ear and look down at my plate. "Thank you, you did great too. But I'm sure you hear that all the time." I say. He grins. "Hey, so there's practice tonight right?" He asks. "Yes." I say. "Good." He says before looking down at his plate. I smile and look up at my friends who are all fanning their faces.
I look pass them and see Jungkook sitting with Chaeyoung and Jimin, why wouldn't he want to sit with me?
I guess that's a good thing he wasn't here then, I don't want Taehyung getting the wrong idea. Just like everyone else does, Jungkook isn't my boyfriend. What if Taehyung is the guy I've been waiting for?
