"Ladies, this is an exclusive club. If you're not on the list, we can't let you in," A huge bouncer guy stepped in front the both of us, stopping us.
"Vanessa Yang," Vivienne said, flashing her 'VIP' membership card to the guy for a reservation check.
"The reservation is booked for two, please present your identity too," he said in his gruff voice as he looked towards me.
"Evelyn Larsson," I smiled sweetly.
He pressed on his earpiece before stepping aside and nodding at us, "Welcome to Libertine, ladies."
Vivienne giggled teasingly at him, giving a squeeze on his muscular arm as we walked in. I turned my head slightly and saw the bouncer stunned in his position. He froze until his colleague whacked him on the back to get his attention on the job. I rolled my eyes and shook my head slightly as I glared a little at Vivienne. Playful as always.
The music boomed louder as we neared the entrance and the manager of the club came forward to greet us, "Ladies, would you like for me to show the way?"
At this moment, a familiar voice spoke through the hidden earpiece. "Have the both of you entered the club?"
"Yes," I smiled politely to the manager but directed that reply towards Seth who was on the other side of the call, waiting for us to update on our status.
"Great, the fake reservation worked," Seth laughed. "Time check, it's 23:39 now. Holiday has a reservation at the wall banquet seat just adjacent to ours. The last person he called before leaving his apartment was Derek Davidson, a human, by the way. According to the time of departure and current traffic condition, he would arrive at 23:48. From here on, it's all on both of you. Good luck and I'll be on the other side to provide further assistance when required."
We eventually reached our seats and Vivienne chirped a reply to acknowledge Seth's briefing, "Thanks."
"What can I get for you ladies?" the manager asked with welcoming politeness.
"Veuve Clicquot, Rosé." Vivienne took out her black card and handed it towards the waiter. He nodded and left. I scanned the surroundings and there was nothing special about this club except that it looked exactly the place where rich kids party. The all hyped-up atmosphere, needlessly expensive interiors and an endless amount of liquor on the tables that nobody actually finishes anyways.
The manager soon came back with the champagne and he carefully filled our glass while we engaged each other in a mindless banter as we waited for him to leave. She whispered and I heard her through the hidden earpiece, "If Holiday comes in looking like a model from Vogue Hommes and smell like A&F, I'm seriously going to cringe. Someone needs to educate these cacs to have variety."
"What do you even expect from them?" I questioned, raising a brow in amusement as I faced her. "They need the standard swoon-worthy look."
Turning my wrist over, I checked on my watch and it struck 23:48. When I lifted my head towards the door, I caught the almost unobservable ominous shadow that lurked over the shoulder of a human disguise and immediately checked the list off my head that he must the Benjamin Holiday. Sharp eyes, neatly backcombed hair and clad in an expensive Armani suit. I nearly burst out laughing when Vivienne gave an unimpressed and bored whine by my side. I said with humour, "I can bet a hundred per cent that he smells like A&F now."
"I know right?" Vivienne frowned, throwing her hands up. "It's like their taste in fashion and looks doesn't improve along with their whatever-you-call, spirit or demon tier?"
We remained discreet but our attention stayed constantly locked at our target who moved closer to their designated seat. My eyes focused on the Montblanc on his left wrist. The loud booming music of the club and those flashing strobe lights that danced across the entire club were great distractions for us to observe our target without getting caught. Every other thing in this club were too attention-grabbing for him to notice anyone staring at him unless he's smart enough to notice, which he obviously isn't by the way he's still laughing joyously with his plain, boring human friend, Davidson.
When both of them settled in the seat just beside ours, I turned to look at Vivienne and she nodded. We picked up our glass of rosé and sauntered towards Holiday's table. I followed behind her, allowing her to do her job because I would never be able to do whatever she's going to do.
"Hey," she changed her tone, mixing her playfulness with wicked seduction. "Mind if we crash into this party?"
Holiday glanced at Vivienne from head to toe, his eyes flashed black for a moment and a smirk appeared on his face. Those split seconds of expression often went unnoticed by humans, but it would never escape from us. Seeing through his glamour, I laughed triumphantly internally before fixing my eyes entirely on Davidson and realised that he really is just a human. The more he eyed Vivienne, the ugly hunger emitting from his aura grew. He's hungry for her energy and that made it way easier for us to catch his interest and trap him. Raising his left hand, he curled his index finger to summon us over. With that, he gave me a full view of the watch that we're targeting. His Heritage Chronométrie.
As much as I hate the way he invited us to join them and wished from the bottom of my heart that I could rip that stupid smirk off his face and ram my gun deep into his throat, I smiled sweetly and moved close to his friend, Davidson. While Vivienne continues to grab Holiday's attention, I pinched on Davidson's chin and directed his eyes towards mine. He leaned closer and landed a hand on my waist. I gave a smug smile and drew him deeper into my gaze, internally cursing at the amount of lust and desperation reflected in his eyes.
"Ben, I'm going to take this somewhere else," Davidson gave in and I swore at him from within.
"Urgent, aren't we?" I chuckled and breathed against his lips. "But it would be boring if it's just the both of us."
"You're unexpectedly wild," Davidson gripped tighter onto my waist and pulled me into his hold as he turned to Holiday and signalled towards him. I lay against this boring human's chest and gave Vivienne a discreet eye roll while gnashing my teeth together with a readiness that if I could punt kick him into next week, I fucking would.
Thankfully, everything went as planned and we managed to move Holiday out from the dance area altogether and walked towards the VIP rooms. The guys pulled us into one of the large lounge room and locked the door. I was the first to be pushed down onto the large soft couch and I snaked my hand to the back of Davidson's neck and pulled him towards me. Smirking, he was so close to placing a kiss on the curve of my neck when I jabbed him hard to put him out. His heavy body slumped on me and I threw him off me immediately. I had been putting up with the act for way too long and I'm annoyed as hell right now. Remind me to never accept this sort of missions ever again. I glared towards Holiday and smirked, "Fun's over, cac."
"Fuck, assassins," Holiday cussed but Vivienne reacted to it fast enough to hold him down into a chokehold, squeezing her arm tight to deprive him of air. The cac let out a cry of grimace before bending forward, lifting Vivienne off the ground and he swung his body to throw her off him. She landed on the ground with a smooth roll and positioned herself in an offensive stance, ready to lunge again anytime. The cac swept his leg across but Vivienne was fast enough to give a timely jump. When he's focusing all his attention towards her, I seized the chance to pull out my pistol and aimed at his leg. Firing the first shot into his thigh, he groaned in pain but cacs heal unbelievably fast. They would never die unless it's a bullet through their head or knife shoved through their hearts.
Angered, he charged towards me, but I shoved him hard on the shoulder and side-stepped to his side. My hand grabbed tightly onto his jaw and I quickly powered a sprint to gain momentum to tumble him to the ground. My acted on my reflexes to drop my knee onto his neck to immobilise him for a few seconds, the cac choked and his hands were pushing against my thigh to move me off. "Now!" I shouted towards Vivienne as she jumped on him and plunged her dagger deep into his heart. The cac screamed and turned into a pile of black dust that dissipated into thin air. I quickly reached for the Montblanc and stared at it for a moment. There wasn't any oddness to it but I pushed it deep into the pocket of my dress regardless. Then, I walked towards Davidson and hauled his heavy ass over my shoulder.
"Where are you taking him to?" Vivienne asked.
"Can't possibly leave him here. You know what happens when humans inhale cac dust." I unlocked the door and swung it open, walking a few doors down with this human weighing on my shoulder. I passed the restroom before an idea came to me and I turned to walk back. I stepped into the gents brazenly and several men looked towards me from the standing cubicles. I scoffed, "Well, carry on. Please don't mind me."
I threw Davidson off my shoulder in one of the cubicles and headed out without a care that most of them were still gaping at me while they peed.
"Iva! You did not just—" Vivienne face-palmed herself as she saw me walking out from the gents.
"Yes, I did," I laughed and our braces vibrated against our wrist.
"Viv, let's get this done and return home," I said. Flipping my hair to the back of my shoulder, we made our way out of the club.
