Going To Give You Hell
━━━━━━━━
"WHY DON'T I GET TO SHOOT?"
Pan tried to ease his daughter's anger but it didn't seem to be working.
"Because Melody, you are already one of the Lost Boys. You don't need to shoot."
"But I want to," Melody whined. "I love archery."
"You said yourself, you've never shot with a crossbow before."
"There's a first for everything."
The two had been arguing for the past hour since Pan finally gave up on running after her. Since they both have similar personalities, the argument was bound to last for a few more hours before one of them gave up. Felix had to endure the entire thing. He had listened to them bicker back and forth and his head was starting to hurt. Yes, he did like Pan, and yes, he did like Melody as a friend, but that still didn't mean he got annoyed of them.
"You can shoot during training, Melody," Pan told her.
Melody narrowed her eyes at him and he gave her a look. The teen rolled her eyes. "Fine."
Henry stirred and the two looked over at him. Pan walked over to him and threw an apple at his feet.
"I don't like apples," Henry told him, sitting up.
"Who doesn't like apples?" Pan asked confused.
"It's a family thing," Melody told him.
Henry looked at her and the teen smiled at him.
"Don't worry," Pan told him, not before giving his daughter a smile. "They're not for eating. It's for a kind of game. A really fun game." He aimed the crossbow at Henry and smiled. "I call it target practice."
---
The StoryBrooke group came to a stop as they now discussed how they were going to find Melody and Henry now that Pan had moved the camp
"So, this whole track has been for nothing?" Emma questioned.
"I told you walking was idiotic. I suggest using magic. We can materialize in the camp and grab Henry and Melody," Regina snapped.
"We don't know where the camp is. Have you even been listening?" Mary Margaret asked, giving her a look.
"Pan'll have shields against magic, I fear. Such an attempt would end in your death and more importantly, mine. That's why we are walking," Hook explained.
"Well then, what's your idea? How are we going to find it?" Regina asked him.
"By using someone he trusts."
"Who? Cause I guess, he certainly doesn't trust you," David said.
"A fairy who lived here when I was about. She might still be on the island. She'd be an inside source, knows all about the camp, can get us in. She might even have some pixie dust left. Perhaps we could fly in."
Emma looked at him. "You mean fairy dust?"
"No, pixie dust. It's stronger. Like nuclear fairy dust," David explained to her.
"Wait. A fairy? Tinker Bell?"
"Do you know her?" Hook asked.
"Every kid in the world knows her," Emma told him.
"That's a bad idea," Regina spoke up Emma looked at her confused. "Mark my words-this Tinker Bell is not going to save us."
---
Pan soused an arrow into a bottle and Henry walked over to him.
"What's that?" he asked.
Melody leaned over to Felix with a questioning look.
"Is that what I think it is," she said.
Felix looked at her. "Dreamshade," he confirmed.
She looked concerned for her younger brother and she crossed her arms over her chest.
"A nasty poison," Pan told her and Henry. "I've heard a story about a man who once shot an apple off his son's head with an arrow." He fixed the arrow on the crossbow. "Let's find out if this is possible."
"If you're shooting the apple what's the poison for?" Henry asked shakily.
Melody sighed and rolled her eyes. "Remind me why I can't do this again."
Felix smiled at her but didn't respond.
"A motivation not to miss," Pan replied to Henry. He playfully aimed the crossbow at Melody who was scowling at him.
"Felix. Get over here," Pan called out.
Felix walked over to Pan and Melody's scowl turned into a smirk. She raised an eyebrow and Pan lowered the crossbow down to give her a look.
"Is Felix good? Is his aim good?" Henry asked in a stuttering voice, casting a glance at Melody who had looked away from Pan to look at her younger brother.
"Doesn't matter. You're the one doing the shooting," Pan revealed, as he continued to fix the crossbow.
Henry looked at Melody again and she gave him a reassuring smile. Pan gave Henry the crossbow and he took it with shaking hands.
"I don't wanna shoot," Henry told Pan.
"Shoot. Shoot. Shoot," the lost boys chanted.
Melody rolled her eyes at their childish behavior but couldn't help but smile.
"You won't hit him. Trust yourself. Go on," Pan said to him.
Henry quickly glanced at Melody and she gave him a nod. Felix then placed an apple on his head smirking at Henry who still looked conflicted.
"It's exhilarating," Pan said smirking.
"Shoot. Shoot. Shoot," the lost boys continued to chant.
Finally, Henry aimed at the apple. When he was about to pull he snapped at turned to Pan, shooting the arrow at him. Pan caught it mid-air and Henry stood shocked. Melody shook her head, laughing slightly.
"Told you it was exhilarating. Come on, I have something to show you," Pan said walking away with Henry.
All of the lost boys went back to doing what they were doing before and Felix dropped the apple. Melody bounded from the trees and went over to him.
"Since he's gone, can I shoot?" she asked.
He turned to her with a smile. "Pan said during training."
Melody tilted her head. "Well, then I guess this is training."
Felix laughed and then gave her the crossbow. "Fine. But you better stick up for me because Pan is going to give me hell for letting you shoot."
Melody smiled. "No worries, Felix. I got your back." She went to walk away when she stopped and turned back around. "Actually, I think I prefer a regular bow." She waved her hand and imagined a bow. The lost boys gaped in shock and Melody casually walked over and made a few targets appear.
All of the lost boys gathered around again and watched Melody put up the bow and made sure she was steady. Blocking everything out, she took deep breaths. Memories flooded into her mind as she reminded when she saved Emma from the ogre. It seemed so long ago. When really, it couldn't have been more than a month or so. Now that she thought about it, since the curse broke, she hadn't gotten the chance to sit down and just enjoy life. It was silly to think about, but she wished sometimes, that things would be normal. That she'd be normal.
She released the arrow and it hit dead center. Moving on, not bothering to pause for more than a few seconds, she shot dead center at the rest of the targets she conjured. Once she finished, she put the bow down and looked at the lost boys who were gaping in shock.
Melody shrugged. "What?"
---
The StoryBrooke group was continuing on their journey to find Tinker Bell when Regina stopped suddenly. The group continued but Emma stopped and approached her.
"Hey," Emma greeted.
Regina shrugged. "Hey."
"You're falling behind. Hook thinks her place is right up ahead. Come on."
"Well, if she still lives there. You go waste your time searching. I'll wait."
Emma walked forward and Regina turned to her.
"What did you do to her?" Emma asked.
"What? Why would you assume I did something?"
"You've met her before, right. In the Enchanted Forest. What did you do? Kill her brother? Steal her halo?"
"She's not an angel." Emma gave her a look. "Okay, we have a complicated history."
Emma shook her head. "I knew it."
Regina sat down. "You don't need to know all the details. But if she sees me she won't help. And if she's the way in, well then, trust me, my staying out of her sight is probably best for Operation Henry and Melody."
"Operation Henry and Melody?" Emma questioned.
"That's what I've been calling it in my head because-"
"They'd call it that."
Regina smiled faintly. "They'd have a better name. But, it's the best I can do."
"Okay. We'll get her and I'll come get you."
"No, don't bother. It's better if we never see one another. And if you don't find her, keep going. Just get them. Don't worry about Tinker Bell."
"What the hell did you do to her?"
Regina sighed and slightly shook her head. "What I always do."
Emma walked away and Regina sighed again, putting her head in her hands.
---
Melody ran her fingers across the binds of the books on the shelf in the treehouse, scanning the name of each one. Then she stopped when she found one. A book full of simple spells. Before she could grabbed it, footsteps sounded and she grabbed a knife that Pan had given her just in case anything happened (and if she couldn't use her magic). Though she knew who was about to step through the door, she did it anyway.
Just mere seconds before they entered the room, Melody threw the knife. Pan jumped back slightly and sighed once he saw the knife protruding from the door. He took it out and stepped into the room to face his daughter who was standing by the bookcase, book in hand, smirking at him.
"I heard that you shot," he said, walking over to her and sitting on the table. He gave the knife back to her and she smiled.
"That I did. And I hit dead center every time."
Pan smiled back proudly. "I heard."
"So this means you aren't mad at Felix right?"
He raised an eyebrow. "Why would I be mad at Felix?"
She shrugged leaning against the bookcase. "He said that I could shoot but that you'd probably give him hell for it."
Pan chuckled. "No, I'm not mad at him. I probably should tell him."
Melody sighed. "I think you should tell him how you feel, dad. I mean come on! You two are best friends! And what better partner to have than someone who you can call your boyfriend and your best friend?"
Pan smiled and looked down at the floor. "Who taught you that?" He looked back up at her to see her lips curved into a soft smile.
"Mary Margaret."
He couldn't help but smile sadly. "You miss them don't you?"
Melody shrugged again, the smile falling slightly. "Yeah, I mean. They're my family. And your my dad and I think me and Felix are becoming friends, the boys seem to like me, you guys are my family too. I just wish we could all be happy together you know?"
Pan nodded understandingly. "I know."
They were silent before Melody pursed her lip and spoke up.
"I..." she trailed off. But then she stopped. "Nevermind."
Pan saw the look on her face and stood up.
"What?"
"It's stupid," she told him, waving her hands. "Don't worry about it."
She went to stand up and Pan stood up and went in front of her to block her.
"No, it's not stupid. Just tell me, princess. I won't get mad at you."
Melody smiled lightly at the nickname she had been given when she was young. She took a deep breath and then spoke quietly.
"Do I embarrass you?"
Her question made Pan raise an eyebrow confusedly. "Why do you ask that?"
"Because. You let Henry shoot the crossbow and when I asked if I could shoot, you told me no. But I shot anyway and you seem shocked."
Pan frowned. "And why would that mean that you embarrass me?"
"Because I thought that you think that since I'm a girl I'm not as good as any of the lost boys at things like fighting or shooting a crossbow." Pan chuckled slightly. Melody blushed embarrassed. "I told you it was stupid, dad." She put her head in her hands.
"It's not stupid. I'm glad you told me. But listen," Pan said, peeling her hands away from her face. She looked at him as he spoke. "First of all, you don't embarrass me. Second, I really just don't want you to get hurt. Third, I would hate myself if anything happened to you and that's why I'm hesitant. Fourth, you are my little princess." Melody smiled slightly. "And I don't want you to shoot a crossbow or fight with the other boys because I want to baby you and my little baby doesn't shoot a crossbow."
Melody rolled her eyes. "I'm not 5 anymore, papa."
Pan smiled sadly. "Which is exactly why I'm going to protect you from now and forever."
Melody saw his sad smile and hugged him. "The boys will get jealous if you are going to baby me and spoil me," she pointed out, still in his embrace.
"Then they and I are going to have a problem."
They pulled away and she gave him a look. "That just makes me look like a brat."
He chuckled. "No. That makes you my little princess."
Melody smiled. "I'm glad I gave you another chance."
Pan smiled back. "I am too."
---
Henry glanced at the parchment behind him and then at the lost boys that were dancing around the fire. Taking another look at the parchment, he grabbed it and opened it to reveal a detailed sketch of himself.
Gaping in shock, he stared at it.
---
She started drifting off when she felt the bed dip down. Melody slowly opened her eyes from her fatigue and she heard the hushing of her father.
"Go back to sleep, Melody."
Nodding slowly, Melody closed her eyes, allowing Pan take kiss her on the top of her head. But before he got up, Melody called to him.
"Papa?"
He turned to her. "Yes?"
She looked at him through her tired lashes. "Promise me that no matter what happens. You won't leave again."
Pan smoothed down her hair with a smile. "I promise."
She faintly smiled through her tiredness and Pan stood up, walking out of the room.
And he was determined to keep that promise.

Sorry for the short chapter! But I think the Neverland chapters will be shorter because Melody isn't with the StoryBrooke gang, with Gold, or will be following Pan around all the time. So most of the time, the parts she's in, will be parts I make up. However, occasionally she will be with Pan when he's following his plans. This is because I know you guys would be bored reading about what everyone else is doing, which makes it a long chapter.
How do you like the father-daughter relationship between Melody and Pan?
What do you think Pan is hiding from her?
