sixteen | HEARTBREAK
NOT ALL THINGS ARE EPHEMERAL, THE THINGS YOU LOVE THE MOST ARE NOT DESPITE WHAT THEY SAY BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS LIVE ON IN YOUR HEART.
IT BREAKS MY OWN TO CONCLUDE THIS LETTER BY TELLING YOU I KNOW WHO KILLED JASON AND I'M NOT AT LIBERTY TO SAY, FOR THAT INFORMATION MAY KILL YOU TOO.
BUT YOU MUST KNOW THAT JASON AND I WERE INVOLVED WITH EACH OTHER, AND THAT BECAUSE OF OUR INTERACTIONS I WAS KILLED TOO.
LOVE YOUR BROTHER, ANTHONY MARTINEZ
By the end of the letter, Luna was in shock.
Many things had been revealed, yet there were still so many questions.
Why was Anthony involved with Jason?
Why were they killed?
What did Anthony know that everyone else didn't?
Luna's hands shook and she wiped her tears with her clothed arm and opted to get up and put the letter back where she had found it.
She put the carpet back down and walked out of the house again, this time with tear stained cheeks.
And as she was walking she caught a glimpse of fiery red hair and stopped in her tracks as it had turned down an alley.
She decided to follow said fiery red hair and called out down the alley loud enough for the person to hear.
They turned around, only for Luna to recognize them as the one and only Cheryl Blossom.
Luna smiled a little, glad to have her night be made slightly better.
"Hey," Cheryl sent Luna a tight-lipped smile.
"What are you doing out here?" Luna asked her, surveying their surroundings.
"Just walking," Cheryl shrugged. "sometimes I need a getaway, you?"
"Just walking."
Both statements were lies.
There was a moment of silence while Luna was debating on what to do in her head.
She finally decided on something, yelling screw it! in her head and she started to walk towards Cheryl in long strides.
"What are you-"
Cheryl was cut off when her lips connected with Luna's once again.
Her forearms were held by Luna's own hands and her body was a few spaces away from Luna's own.
Luna pulled back with a gasp and opened her eyes slowly to see Cheryl's mouth still open and her eyes till closed.
Her dark eyes fluttered open, long eyelashes fanning her cheeks and she looked up at Luna, her forearms still in her grip.
"What was that for?" Cheryl asked, chuckling.
Luna shrugged.
"Well whatever it was, I liked it," Cheryl smiled, but it was soon replaced with a frown.
"What?" Luna asked with a furrow of her brows.
"I just- I don't know if I can do this," Cheryl looked down as she spoke, avoiding eye contact.
Luna released Cheryl's arms, only to have her hands be grasped by Cheryl's own.
"I don't know if I can take the ridicule, and I don't know if I want you to be my secret," Cheryl looked up at Luna's dead eyes only to have a pang of guilt sucker punch her gut.
Luna didn't respond, pursing her lips and endeavoring to wriggle out of Cheryl's strong grip.
"Luna-"
She finally succeeded in her task, pulling her arm away to wipe away her tears and she turned around, only to be spun around by Cheryl again.
Cheryl crashed her lips onto Luna's, gripping her face and frantically kissing her.
This time wasn't like all the others though.
The butterflies were gone.
The strong grips and equally as eager kisses were absent.
And the love had vanished.
Cheryl's tears were now streaming down her face but she kept kissing Luna, only stopped when Luna pursed her own lips and harshly pushed Cheryl away.
"Please," Cheryl looked into Luna's hopeless eyes. "you're the only thing I have that's real."
Luna shook her head and turned again, this time successfully walking down the entirety of the alley.
When she finally arrived at Archie's, everyone was staring at her.
"You look like hell," Archie himself commented, only to receive a phony smile and a flip of Luna's middle finger.
FP was standing with Fred in the entryway and the rest of the gang were standing too.
FP looked at Luna with a tilt of his head, signaling he was confused but Luna looked away.
"What did you want to tell me?" Jughead asked. "and why did it matter if Luna was here?"
"Okay," FP gulped. "you can't be mad at her, she barely found out yesterday..."
"Be mad at her for what?" Betty asked with tired eyes, her arms were crossed and she looked frazzled at both Luna's demeanor and FP's secrecy.
"Jug," FP looked down as he spoke. "Luna's your half-sister."
The room was silent, you could literally hear a pin drop.
When everyone was finished staring FP down, they all turned to Luna who had used up all her tears for the night.
"Is he serious?" Jughead asked, and Luna had only registered that his question was directed towards her a few seconds before he repeated it.
"Luna, is he serious?" Jughead asked again, this time more sternly.
Luna nodded, looking down again.
Jughead decided to ask a few more questions, "Half? So we don't-"
"No," Luna answered and Jughead nodded.
"Wait, what does that make Anthony to me?" Jughead asked. "we share a sib-"
"Do we?" Luna looked at FP. "is Anthony my biological brother?"
"What?" Veronica looked at both of them. "why wouldn't he be?"
Archie sighed, "Luna found out that FP is her biological dad and that her mom isn't really who she thought she was."
Luna smiled up at Archie appreciatively, "My biological mom gave me to her sister when I was young because she was too young to keep me."
Luna decided that was the easiest way to put it.
"No."
Luna looked up at FP, "What?"
"No, Anthony is not your biological brother, he's Emery's son."
At that moment Luna's heart completely broke.
The person she had grown to love and tolerate and recognized as her brother was in fact, not really her brother after all.
"So we're cousins?" Luna asked and FP nodded.
This entire situation was screwed up.
"Lu-" Veronica started.
"Don't," Luna shook her head. "please."
Luna felt hopeless and empty like she had been betrayed in the cruelest of ways.
The person who had made her question her entire identity had, in fact, used her for her own malevolent ways.
Luna was a fling.
She was an experiment.
She found out her family was not really her family and these odd people of whom she knew nothing about, were, in fact, her family.
So she stood there, lifeless.
Praying for something to come and take the pain away.
For this nightmare to be over.
For this to be over.
She felt strong arms wrap around her body and when she looked to see who it was she saw red hair.
It reminded her of Cheryl.
More arms wrapped around her and she saw Jughead.
He reminded her of how crazy this entire ordeal was.
Veronica and Betty reminded her that her brother – no, cousin for that matter whom she had grown up with, was dead.
And in that moment she felt exactly like Anthony.
Lifeless, cold.
Dead.
***
i know this is short, and i also found a plot hole that i fixed.
Jughead and Luna were born on the same day, but they only have FP as a common parent.
Yeep, sorry for that my dudes.
Also, yes, depression will be a topic in the coming chapters so if you're easily triggered BE WARNED!
Okay, well, goodbye!
