If we were being honest, it very much disturbed Luna that she couldn't read Cheryl.
It actually very much disturbed her that she couldn't read anyone in Riverdale which proved just how screwed up the town really was.
Most of the time, Luna could read almost anyone, it's like they were an open book.
However, everyone in Riverdale was the opposite to an open book, they were a diary that had tens of thousands of locks, so you knew whoever owned it absolutely did not want anyone to be opening their diary.
The most disturbing person in Riverdale, to Luna, was Cheryl.
It seemed like you knew her, she was a cold person, right?
Except not only did the past few weeks that Luna spent with Cheryl prove that theory wrong, but whenever Luna looked at Cheryl, she could never truly see that cold-heartedness reach her eyes.
Cheryl was a shell of herself.
And the best way to keep people out, stop them from invading her, was to be something she was not.
Which meant people would stop at the surface because they thought they knew exactly what they'd see underneath.
They'd never think to look deeper.
To see something they would have never thought of.
A broken, lonely, girl who was begging for someone to just search a little deeper.
"Cheryl..."
"Stop, please, don't say anything yet," Cheryl looked very frazzled, shaken up, and almost confused and unprepared like she hadn't expected Luna to actually come with her.
She didn't look like herself.
"I'm so sorry, it was selfish of me-"
"Okay, okay," Luna chuckled. "I'm 'gonna let you keep your pride. I'd feel horrible to have you apologize for something you shouldn't be apologizing for."
Cheryl tilted her head to the side and furrowed her brows, opening her mouth but letting no sound come out.
"I'm a selfish bitch. You should be able to come out when you're ready. I should have never pressured you or made you think that just because you weren't comfortable with people knowing yet, you were somehow, I don't know, wrong?"
Cheryl nodded, pursing her lips to hide the wide smile that was begging to be surfaced.
"Well, I guess I could forgive you..." Cheryl trailed off, a hint of mischief lining her words.
"But..." Luna raised an eyebrow, smiling slightly as Cheryl was already back to her usual ways.
"Maybe you could really make it up to me," Cheryl stepped forward and put her hands on Luna's shoulders. "letting me stay over at your house?"
"Today?" Luna asked, dumbfounded.
"Yeah," Cheryl shrugged. "why not?"
"Um," Luna furrowed her brows. "I'll ask my mom."
"Your mom?" Cheryl asked, intrigued. "you never mentioned your mom being in town."
Mom? Did she really just refer to Ophelia as her mom?
Luna brushed it off, it was easier than referring to her as anything else, right?
"Um, yeah, she came to town fairly recently," Luna nodded.
"Okay," Cheryl nodded too.
Then there was silence.
"We should get to school," Luna suggested and Cheryl chuckled.
"Yeah, we should," her gaze drifted to Luna's lips, and in a moment of vulnerability she asked the one question on her mind. "do you mind if I-"
"God, I thought you would never ask."
Both girls crashed their lips onto each other's indulging in the feeling once again, hoping to never let go of each other once again.
Cheryl gripped Luna's face while Luna's hands grasped the redhead's hips, keeping her own flush against Cheryl's.
They only pulled away to catch their breath's Cheryl laughing slightly, "I missed that."
Luna laughed too, "So did I."
More silence.
"Well, uh, yeah, goodbye, for now," Luna smiled and waved.
"Farewell," Cheryl said after Luna, soon cursing herself for saying such a stupid thing.
Luna seemed to walk into the school a new person, walking right to her locker which still had the faint words of a hate slur on there.
It reminded her of the picture she had once seen, which started to make her think more.
Suddenly, Luna had a burst of realization and she ran to the four people around Archie's locker.
"Guys!" she yelled a bit too loudly, everyone jumping.
She got a few looks from surrounding people, but she ignored them.
"Hey, Lune," Jughead laughed.
"Hi again," Betty smiled, still reeling from her mini heart attack.
"Hello, please stop trying to kill me," Archie chuckled.
Veronica rolled her eyes, "So dramatic. Hello, Lu."
"Salutations," Luna greeted hurriedly before voicing her thoughts. "so remember all the controversy surrounding the picture."
"Yes," they all nodded.
"Okay, so think about it, someone had to have been taking the picture, but that day I didn't see anyone, so who would have been hiding to take a picture of Cheryl and me?"
"Maybe you didn't see them because you were too busy figuring out how many ways you could bang Cheryl," Jughead laughed.
"Screw you," Luna said jokingly. "but seriously, think about it. There's a possibility that someone could have been following us. Maybe following me."
Okay so maybe, as the narrator, I might have done a huge injustice to you, the reader.
If you didn't notice, there's a time gap between the Veronica, Archie, Luna talk and today, which I may have failed to include after a major cliffhanger.
So maybe I should include that little scene now?
Okay, I'll include that little scene now.
"The thing is...I have something to tell you guys," Luna looked down.
"What?" Archie asked.
"Well, I-uh, may or may not have also had a small association with the Serpents for a while?"
"Excuse me, what?" Archie choked on his drink.
"I-um never told you-"
"That's obvious!" Veronica's mouth gaped.
"But, I used to come to Riverdale with my brother, before my parents, sorry, aunt and uncle died," Luna bit her lip. "Anthony used to talk to FP a lot, and eventually we started coming on the regular."
"That stopped abruptly, though. I remember the day before seeing Anthony and FP arguing though."
"Did you hear what they were arguing about?" Archie and Veronica asked at the same time.
"Not really? All I remember hearing was 'I won't do this anymore' from Anthony, and then he stormed out with me."
"So FP knows you?" Veronica asked, furrowing her brows.
"Yes, he does," Luna gulped. "but Anthony told me not to talk about the Serpents anymore that weekend, and he told me FP agreed to do the same. I think that's the last contact they had."
"Oh god, well, you really have to talk to FP then," Archie pursed his lips.
"Okay, but this stays between us, okay guys?" Luna told them. "and the letter too."
"Okay, okay, just talk to FP," Veronica nodded.
"Ditto," Archie said before taking a sip of his drink.
Okay, okay, that was very important, I admit that, but don't kill me.
As a narrator, I have a really stressful and important job.
But in case you have forgotten, I'm going to include some parts of this story where it's been a little bit odd.
And the whole Luna-Serpent thing clears some stuff up.
The time when Luna someone knew Joaquin's name, Kevin's boyfriend, without ever having it mentioned.
And the time when Luna and FP talked like they were old friends, not like Luna had just met her estranged father.
But those are only some of the times.
Anyways, back to this story.
Wow did I just break the 4th wall?
Is that a thing with narrators?
Okay, you know what, seriously, let's get back to this.
Veronica and Archie gave Luna a look, telling her what she would have to reveal if she continued with what she was saying.
"Why would anyone be following you?" Betty asked the million dollar question.
Luna explained herself and her affiliation with the Serpents, how it didn't end so amazingly, and how her brother somehow wanted to stop their association with them quite abruptly.
"Are you suggesting someone wants to hurt you? 'Cause FP would never allow that to happen," Jughead crossed his arms.
Another look from Archie and Veronica told Luna that if she kept talking, she would need to reveal more information.
So she talked about the letter and the part Archie had mentioned, without mentioning Archie.
She didn't talk about Veronica or Archie at all, just so that no one would be offended they didn't know or something.
"I mean, Jason had an assocation with the Serpents and he ended up, well, you know. So did Anthony," Luna crossed her arms.
"Well, do you think you could talk to FP? Considering your past together?" Betty asked.
"Maybe Jughead and Luna should do it," Archie suggested.
"Why?" Jughead asked.
"He can't lie to you both at once. It would eat the man inside out," Archie shrugged. "he's still a fragile guy."
Jughead nodded, "I'm in, after school today?"
Seems Luna had a lot to do after school today.
Luna nodded, "Sure."
