"What? How do you even know it's Anthony?"

Luna refused to believe it, Anthony was definitely not missing, he couldn't have been.

Veronica squeezed Luna's hand, her face looking shocked and confused, a mirror image of Luna's.

The squeeze reminded Luna that Veronica was there and she pulled her closer, feeling a bit less alone.

"Well," the officer pulled out a wallet. "we fished out this in the water, along with Jason's."

Luna hastily took the wallet from the officer.

She opened it with such force, it ripped in half, and it's contents fell from the wallet, and onto the moist grass.

Luna sank to her knees, scrambling to get whatever she could from the ground, checking gift cads, old notes which looked like it had Anthony's handwriting – but it couldn't have been his handwriting – and money.

The pitiful officer, who had also gotten to his knees, had been the one to find the I.D.

He tapped Luna on the shoulder, and her head snapped up, who tear rimmed eyes looking directly into his.

He handed the I.D to her, back up, and Luna took it gingerly.

She closed her eyes, please don't let this have his picture, don't let this have his information, don't let the details describe him.

She opened her eyes again, this time a tear fell down her face, but she bit her lip, her hands shaking as she turned the I.D over.

Anthony Martinez.

Eye color, blue.

Height, 5'9.

At this point Luna chucked the I.D across the grass, putting her face into her hands and crying.

She let the tears fall free, and she couldn't breathe.

Veronica fell to her knees, holding Luna as she struggled to gain control of her body and mind.

"No, no, no, this isn't happening, it can't be happening," Luna cried into her hands, her body shaking violently as Veronica had her arms wrapped around Luna.

"Sh, baby, it'll be alright I–"

"No!" Luna looked up all of a sudden, staring at Veronica. "no it won't! You can never know what it's like to not know how your family is! If they're safe, if they–"

At this point Veronica's sympathetic look had turned to a look of pure anger, "What the hell do you mean? You must be completely goddamn deaf and blind to have not heard what happened to me? The shit I've endured, sure isn't yours. But you can't compare someone's problems to your own, you, you–"

Veronica struggled to find words.

"You bitch!"

She stood up, walking away angrily, her hands curled into fists as she stomped away from an utterly shocked Luna.

Veronica marched all the way to her own house, all the way to her room, all the way to her bed, and all the way under the covers.

***

It was one week after school began – 2 hours after the first bell had rang – that Luna had finally decided to step into the school.

No one knew her, but she was angry.

Angry that everyone was focused on the disappearance of Jason Blossom mostly.

Angry that her brother was missing.

Angry at Veronica for leaving her.

And most of all, angry at herself for allowing Anthony to leave.

The school decided to post pone the beginning of school to September, much to everyone's delight, and especially for Luna and Cheryl's.

However, Luna still didn't show up, as she wasn't ready.

And Cheryl, well she most definitely showed up, determined to prove that she was okay.

In fact, she wasn't, and she pondered that thought as she sat in her class, pen in her mouth and shoulders slumped.

This was probably the most vulnerable state Cheryl Blossom had ever been in, and everyone was shocked at that.

The teacher probably wasn't aware of what he was saying as he stared at Cheryl.

No one else was paying attention to the teacher either – which wasn't anything new – however this time is way different of course, because of Cheryl Blossom's completely uncharacteristic behavior.

Everyone was snapped out of their daze, however, when someone knocked on the door.

The teacher blinked, shaking his head a little, before walking over and opening the door of the classroom.

"Young lady, you're late," the teacher said.

Luna looked over to the chalkboard, where 'Mr. Torres' was written on the chalkboard in small, neat, cursive handwriting.

"Well, um, Mr. Torres-"

"What's your name, I don't believe I've seen you around?" he squinted his eyes, as if he was trying to remember Luna.

"I'm new, I just moved here? My name is Luna Martinez," she pursed her lips when there were short gasps and the teacher opened his mouth, no sound coming out.

So people did think about Anthony.

Luna guessed they just didn't talk about him aloud as much as they did with Jason.

"Any relation to-"

"Yes."

Luna answered quickly, hearing his name would only bring her more pain, and she could only take so much...

The teacher nodded, gesturing to an empty seat next to a redhead that Luna didn't completely recognize.

She sat down, the teacher resuming his lesson, and Luna fell into the hole that everyone else was in.

Yes, Luna was staring at Cheryl.

And it wasn't just her light red, almost orange, hair or dark brown eyes that captured Luna.

It wasn't just what was on the outside.

It was what Luna didn't see that captured her.

And the same thing went for Cheryl.

Although she had criticized her about it, Cheryl adored Luna's pink hair.

She admired her for taking that risk, and thought that her colored eyebrows, makeup, and grunge look were the hottest thing she'd seen in forever.

But of course, Cheryl Blossom was not a fan of weaknesses, unless of course, they were on other people.

It took all of her willpower not to look over and stare at Luna's lovely face.

But instead she slipped into her relaxing, vulnerable place.

Cheryl definitely found Luna incredibly interesting in her mysteriousness.

She had some lady balls, standing up to the Queen Bee herself, Cheryl Blossom.

And then her brother disappeared, along with her own.

In contrast to Cheryl, Luna shamelessly stared at her.

Everyone else was doing it, so why couldn't Luna?

Again though, it wasn't her hair, or her deliciously plump lips. No it was what Luna had to figure out that made her go crazy for the red haired girl.

"Luna?"

Luna finally was snapped back to reality by Cheryl.

"Yes?"

"Can you meet me after school, in the gym?"

Luna was quite taken aback at first, but after she had finished stumbling over her words she answered with a, "Okay."

The rest of the day went by pretty quickly.

Said no one who has ever been to school, ever.

Literally the day seemed to go by as quickly as it took a snail to cross the country.

God, Luna was begging for the end of the day to reach her as quickly as possible.

She really didn't know why she was so excited to see Cheryl, I mean she thought it could have been because of that bond.

Both had parts of their families missing.

Siblings.

Who were male.

And who were both definitely hiding secrets.

The last one, Luna nor Cheryl knew yet, but they did however notice the first two things.

Maybe there was a pattern?

But Luna didn't want to think about that, no, no she didn't.

Instead she pushed herself through the day, skipping lunch and going to the music room – which she knew wasn't occupied – to do some homework.

Or at least she thought she knew.

The door knob started to turn and Luna freaked out, not wanting to get in trouble for hiding out in the music room.

So in a spontaneous, under-thought, move, Luna hid behind a grand piano.

Why a school needed a grand piano exactly, Luna wasn't sure, but she wasn't thinking about that at the time.

She was right in front of the piano's seat, and she juts hoped the teacher didn't pay much attention to the actual room when they walked in.

The door was across the room from the piano, and it wasn't like you couldn't see under it.

If we're being honest, it was pretty obvious somebody was there.

And when whoever came in, she heard more than one voice, indicating more than one person.

But when one of them talked she could have sworn it sounded exactly like a certain Archie Andrews.

And then when the one referred to the other as "Archie", she knew for sure he was in the room.

She was going to come out and explain the situation, when she started to hear more of the conversation.

Luna now knew Miss Grundy was in the room with Archie, she had heard of her and seen her around.

Said "hi" to her a few times in the hallway, but that was all that had happened.

From what she could hear, it sort of sounded as if Archie and Miss Grundy were...

Involved.

She looked around the corner of the piano, to see Archie and Miss Grundy in the other part of the room, and a peculiar eye in the window of the door.

It sort of looked like Jughead's eye, and when the eye looked at her and it's face fully came into view, she knew for sure that Jughead was looking through.

He gave her a look that said, "did you know about this?" and Luna answered by mouthing a "no".

Luna also thought it helped that Jughead mouthed the words, "did you know about this".

Jughead tilted his head, telling her to "come on" and Luna shook her head no, she looked at Archie and Miss Grundy, scrunching her face up when she realized they were kissing.

But she couldn't leave, it was too dangerous.

Luna kind of felt like she was in an episode of a TV Show now.

She pulled out her phone and texted Jughead.

'Can't come now, talk later?', she wrote.

Luna looked up to see Jughead pull out his phone before looking up and nodding with a solemn look.

She gave him a tight lined smile and turned around again so her back was to the piano seat once more.

Luna couldn't help but think, as she sat there, waiting for Archie and Miss Grundy to leave –

What had Luna just witnessed, and what kind of consequences would come because of it?
