10 year old Annika:

"... and we will fall in love and marry and live happily ever after!"

16 year old Annika:

"... I am never falling for a guy, ever again."

19 year old Annika:

"... maybe after say ten years, I might get married. Love marriage, of course."

Present day,

23 years, eight months and 14 days old Annika:

"Papa, do you really think this alliance is right for me?"

"I am not the one to make the decision for you. But I really think you should meet Shivaay. And also, you will love the Oberois." Harshvardhan placed his hand on his daughter's head. She was dubious and rightfully so.

"I don't think Shivaay Singh Oberoi would want someone like me as his wife, but I am willing to give this a chance. But he's in Madrid now, you say?" Annika was of course not convinced. But she had nothing major in her life and getting hitched didn't seem like a bad option. After graduating from business school, she had thought she'd have a solid career. But being from a business family, her options were endless and she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. When her dad had come with the marriage proposal, it didn't seem like a bad idea. Plus, from whatever she had inferred from the interviews she had read upon him, she knew he wouldn't want her. She was the misfit in the business world after all.

"Yes. He will be coming only next week here. You know how these business trips are," Her father's eyes glinted as he said that and she knew he already wanted Shivaay to be his son-in-law. "Shivaay's Dadi and his mom wanted to meet you before that. It is still very informal..."

"But Annika... behave, huh?" Amala Trivedi's could have sounded like she was adjuring but it was an admonition to not be very... well, Annika.

She looked at her Dadu- Amarnath Trivedi, and her sister who were both looking at her sympathetically.

I decided while writing the first chapter that Annika needs a super cool Dadu.
