Twisty turns
"You can wait longer, there is no rush," Gaster told Harry calmly.
"No, I don't want to keep accepting hand outs... I'd like to start a job," Harry told the taller skeleton, he liked Gaster. Friendly sort, but Harry felt confined and wanted to start making his own way.
"But still, working for Toriel. Due to the boutique she owns even while learning to be a queen in the future, its a very busy spot," he pointed out, knowing Harry wasn't the most people person.
"Its a few hours a day, you said I was healthy enough for that," came the dry response.
"You are, but the job also means you'll be stuck in dresses while there," came the pointed response, Harry flinched as he disliked dresses.
"Its the only job available right now," he sighed, as monsters lived very long lives so rarely moved from jobs as few monsters had enough fertility to have children very often. It was a trade off, long lives low fertility. Part of the reason, why loosing even one monster could be horrible.
"You could wait a few months, Juri is leaving in a few months in the labs and while a secretory job you are very good at that type of thing. And no dresses," Gaster offered in compromise, after while healthier a lot of Harry's innate skeleton magic still wasn't usable.
They didn't even know his true name yet, as the font magic still hadn't appeared.
Harry frowned, it was a very good offer.
While he was getting better at wearing female clothes as it was more comfortable for his female ecto, being forced to wear it daily would be stressful.
"Fine, but I'll still be looking. I hate living on handouts" Harry grumbled.
"Stay strong Harry, soon," Gaster said softly.
"Hope so, by the way.. didn't you mention we got an invite to some party?" he asked curious, changing the subject on the depressing subject of jobs.
Thank goodness monsters didn't have taxes, or rent! Or at least hadn't discovered those things yet.
"Ah yes, Asgore in inviting us and a few other friends to celebrate no battles since we met you," Gaster said scrambling for the invite, the scientist opening the invite "But it is fancy dress code, apparently Toriel asked"
"No wonder she got me that dress," Harry said covering his face, she'd also slipped in many other things to match the dress.
"At least you don't have to rush to get something,"
Well there was that.
Gaster would definitely not tell the other skeleton monster, that he would enjoy having the other there in the dress.
------
Apparently, monsters could get hung over.
He was also pretty sure, that someone in the palace had spiked there drinks. Not the others at the party, as most had gone for low alcohol drinks like himself. He's gotten drunk from barely anything, meaning something much stronger was inside it.
He felt sick to his stomach, too warm and sticky and sore weirdly.
Wait sore...?
Green eyes opened in shock, wincing at the light filtering through the window. Gaster's window.
"Shit..." Harry swore realizing just what had happened, waking up Gaster.
"Harry.. what are you doing in my bed?" he asked clearly just as hungover, and not up to normal thinking yet.
He stole the covers and fled to his room embarrassed beyond belief.
