*Al-Baqarah 2:17*

*مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّآ أَضَآءَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُۥ ذَهَبَ ٱللَّهُ بِنُورِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِى ظُلُمَٰتٍ لَّا يُبْصِرُونَ*

_Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see._

The Sunnah of drinking water

▶  *Sit down before drinking water.*

No matter you are in hurry for something, but that should not stop you from taking a moment to sit down and drink water in a healthy way. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: *“Sit down and drink” (Muslim)*. Science also proved that drinking water whilst standing or walking can cause Gastrointestinal Tract (GIT) damage, kidney damage, arthritis, nerve tension, and other disorders.

Note that it's also not any sin to drink water while standing! You can drink while standing but it's recommended to drink water while sitting.

The Prophet sometimes drank while standing to explain that doing so is permissible.

Imam Muslim reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said *“None of you should drink while standing; and if anyone forgets, he must vomit.”* It was the Prophet’s habit to drink while sitting. However, it is reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim that he was given Zamzam water and he drank it while standing. Reconciling these two seemingly conflicting hadiths is possible and none of them abrogates the other. Drinking while sitting is desirable but not obligatory and that is why the Prophet sometimes drank while standing to explain that doing so is permissible. Yet, it is better to drink while sitting.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمَازِنِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏‏''' *يَدْخُلُ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ الْجَنَّةَ، وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ النَّارَ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَخْرِجُوا مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ حَبَّةٍ مِنْ خَرْدَلٍ مِنْ إِيمَانٍ‏.‏ فَيُخْرَجُونَ مِنْهَا قَدِ اسْوَدُّوا فَيُلْقَوْنَ فِي نَهَرِ الْحَيَا ـ أَوِ الْحَيَاةِ، شَكَّ مَالِكٌ ـ فَيَنْبُتُونَ كَمَا تَنْبُتُ الْحِبَّةُ فِي جَانِبِ السَّيْلِ، أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهَا تَخْرُجُ صَفْرَاءَ مُلْتَوِيَةً ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو ‏"‏ الْحَيَاةِ ‏"‏‏.‏ وَقَالَ ‏"‏ خَرْدَلٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ ‏"‏‏.‏"*

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

*The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise and the people of Hell will go to Hell, Allah will order those who have had faith equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed to be taken out from Hell. So they will be taken out but (by then) they will be blackened (charred). Then they will be put in the river of Haya' (rain) or Hayat (life) (the Narrator is in doubt as to which is the right term), and they will revive like a grain that grows near the bank of a flood channel. Don't you see that it comes out yellow and twisted"*

'''ہم سے اسماعیل نے یہ حدیث بیان کی ، وہ کہتے ہیں ان سے مالک نے ، وہ عمرو بن یحییٰ المازنی سے نقل کرتے ہیں ، وہ اپنے باپ سے روایت کرتے ہیں اور وہ حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ اور وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے نقل کرتے ہیں کہ''' *آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا  جب جنتی جنت میں اور دوزخی دوزخ میں داخل ہو جائیں گے ۔ اللہ پاک فرمائے گا ، جس کے دل میں رائی کے دانے کے برابر ( بھی ) ایمان ہو ، اس کو بھی دوزخ سے نکال لو ۔ تب ( ایسے لوگ ) دوزخ سے نکال لیے جائیں گے اور وہ جل کر کوئلے کی طرح سیاہ ہو چکے ہوں گے ۔ پھر زندگی کی نہر میں یا بارش کے پانی میں ڈالے جائیں گے ۔ ( یہاں راوی کو شک ہو گیا ہے کہ اوپر کے راوی نے کون سا لفظ استعمال کیا ) اس وقت وہ دانے کی طرح اگ آئیں گے جس طرح ندی کے کنارے دانے اگ آتے ہیں ۔ کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ دانہ زردی مائل پیچ در پیچ نکلتا ہے ۔ وہیب نے کہا کہ ہم سے عمرو نے ( «حياء» کی بجائے ) «حياة» ، اور («خردل من ايمان» ) کی بجائے ( «خردل من خير» ) کا لفظ بیان کیا*

📌 *Etiquette of sleeping:*

🎀Sleep in a state of taharah (purity). 
🎀Sleep early.
🎀Choose a suitable bed,Clean the bed and lie on the right side. 
🎀Reciting the Adhkaar (supplications) mentioned in the Sunnah before sleeping.
