*Al-Baqarah 2:15*

*ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ وَيَمُدُّهُمْ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ*

_[But] Allah mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly._

The Sunnah of eating

▶  *Rinse the mouth and wash the hands after eating*

Washing the hands after eating. _The Sunnah may be done by washing with water only. Ibn Raslaan said: But it is better to wash the hands with potash or soap or something similar._

See Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi, 5/485.

So washing the hands is mustahabb both before and after eating, even if a person has wudoo’.

Rinsing the mouth after eating. It is mustahabb to rinse the mouth after eating, because _Basheer ibn Yassaar narrated that Suwayd ibn al-Nu’maan told him that they were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in al-Sahba’ – which is some distance from Khaybar – and the time for prayer came. He called for food, but he did not find anything but some saweeq (barley mush). So he ate some and we all ate with him. Then he called for water and rinsed out his mouth, and then he prayed, and we prayed, and he did not do wudoo’._

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلاَمٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا أَمَرَهُمْ أَمَرَهُمْ مِنَ الأَعْمَالِ بِمَا يُطِيقُونَ قَالُوا إِنَّا لَسْنَا كَهَيْئَتِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ غَفَرَ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ‏.‏ فَيَغْضَبُ حَتَّى يُعْرَفَ الْغَضَبُ فِي وَجْهِهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ‏'''

Narrated 'Aisha:

*Whenever Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered the Muslims to do something, he used to order them deeds which were easy for them to do, (according to their strength and endurance). They said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! We are not like you. Allah has forgiven your past and future sins." So Allah's Apostle became angry and it was apparent on his face. He said, "I am the most Allah fearing, and know Allah better than all of you do."*

'''یہ حدیث ہم سے محمد بن سلام نے بیان کی ، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ انہیں اس کی عبدہ نے خبر دی ، وہ ہشام سے نقل کرتے ہیں ، ہشام حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے وہ فرماتی ہیں کہ''' *رسول اللہ  صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم لوگوں کو کسی کام کا حکم دیتے تو وہ ایسا ہی کام ہوتا جس کے کرنے کی لوگوں میں طاقت ہوتی ( اس پر ) صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ ! ہم لوگ تو آپ جیسے نہیں ہیں ( آپ تو معصوم ہیں ) اور آپ کی اللہ پاک نے اگلی پچھلی سب لغزشیں معاف فرما دی ہیں ۔ ( اس لیے ہمیں اپنے سے کچھ زیادہ عبادت کرنے کا حکم فرمائیے ) ( یہ سن کر ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ناراض ہوئے حتیٰ کہ خفگی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے چہرہ مبارک سے ظاہر ہونے لگی ۔ پھر فرمایا کہ بیشک میں تم سب سے زیادہ اللہ سے ڈرتا ہوں اور تم سب سے زیادہ اسے جانتا ہوں ۔ ( پس تم مجھ سے بڑھ کر عبادت نہیں کر سکتے )*
