it's been awhile since the last update in this book, and i said that i would make a hosuh x reader smol story
but i would like to revive my writing skills with this one instead; so in advance, i apologize for any wrong grammar
and this plot is actually my draft for my first original work:
❝ (sweets✖tricks) ❞
anyways, watch my skills suffer as the story goes; you might get weirded out with the persona stephen has at the start so i'll just drop a quick lmao
idk what's happening in this story as well, uH oH i think this is my first time seriously writing an x reader
poorly made by:

❝ [ y/n | fryxell's sweet shop ] ❞
The clock kept ticking, showing that it's quarter to five on a cold and windy Friday. Autumn was near so the orange leaves kept falling, leaving a total mess everywhere, a beautiful one, that is.
None of that mattered anyway, you've been locked inside of the lonely faded pastel walls of a local sweet shop near a busy school and square. The overwhelming silence was depressing, you were just staring at the window pane, watching the passersby come and go.
No one- almost all of them- had intentions on buying the candies that had been sitting pretty on the display. The business was slow, and it was a pain for you. If the business shuts down, it will be harder for you to find a new part-time job.
Should I use all these sweets to kidnap children just for ransom? that immoral jokes keeps entering in your mind, but of course you wouldn't do such a thing. You have no balls to do so, you can't even report without stuttering.
And so, you remain helpless for the next minutes. You were expecting someone- a regular, you looked at your phone that has it's calendar app open. The strange guy would always come here every week, mostly Fridays.
It's not like you're stalking the teen or whatnot, it's just that he made quite an impression on you.
First he had a strange choice of hair color, the male dyed his hair violet. But your school (the one near the store you're working in) have some handful of students with weird hair colors so it's pretty normal for you now.
You find him quite attractive, and that's a problem because you consider almost everyone as an attractive person. It's not only for the looks, but also their vibes.
His smirk would leave some weird ones, but it had an impact.
But the stranger one is, the fact that he's been going into this store with different girls. It changes every week, the longest one was two weeks and you don't even know what happened to that girl. All you know is that he had a lot of dates, like, a LOT.
It was strange to have a date in a local sweet shop, it's romantic and all but Starbucks is the overrated choice for dates, you always wonder what's their reason for being here.
Not that you mind, you don't mind at all, having customers is like having a miracle.
He should be here any second now.. your gaze landed on the clock again. You hummed a little lullaby, seconds before the bell on the top of the entrance door rang and the door opened.
The strange guy was bac-
He's.. back..? you found yourself confused. ..all alone?
He looked absolutely tired, dark bags were present under his eyes, obviously the concealer didn't work because it's been carelessly dribbled all over his cheeks on a curve line.
He dragged himself over the first aisle and you watched his eyes scan the displays that sat there.
You assumed something bad happened, but you didn't forget to tell him the usual greeting.
"Welcome to the Fryxell Sweet Shop!"
You greeted him in your casual bubbly tone, catching his full attention. You threw him a wide warm smile before he decided to avert his look back to the candy bar he's holding.
You frowned. As far as you can remember, whenever he enter this store, he already had this goofy grin plastered on his face.
Maybe because his date ditched him. you answered your own little question. That explains why he's sad, why not cheer him up?
"Chin up, buttercup. Or else the candy bar would come to life and run away because of that scary glare of yours."
You let out a chuckle to ease your nervousness. That was a silly thing to say. Did I pissed him off?
"Excuse me?"
He was cocking an eyebrow, but you realized that his face finally softened. You let out a deep sigh of relief for some reason before responding back at him.
"Hehe, I'm sorry. You had a sour look on you so I thought I could cheer you up a bit."
He approached the counter bringing a pair of different flavored candy bars and placed them against the marble surface. You heard him laugh a little, his eyes were closing, and opened again with a shine of gloominess.
"Is it that obvious?"
You replied with a simple nod. The teen raced his hand through his hair as he took a sharp inhale, attempting to calm down.
"I'm sorry. Today's not the day for me."
"Really? What's wrong? If you mind me asking."
The man contemplated for a bit, spacing out, his finger was tapping onto the candy bar.
"I had a huge fight with my roommate. Just because I accidentally deleted his video project."
He spilled, looking down on the floor where a dull yellow-colored mat lays.
"-it was on accident and he suddenly snapped out. Saying that it was for some channel or something."
Channel? Radio channel? His roommate works on a radio station?
"Radio channel?"
"No, I-I don't know. He called it Danplan."
You shot a puzzled look, but continued without any questions. The man seemed getting comfortable with him telling a stranger his problems.
"I see." you said. "And that brought you here? So you can buy him a candy?"
"No, sweets calms me down. And apparently so do you."
You were slightly taken back at his sudden compliment, but on the other hand, you watched him get flustered and look away.
"S-sorry! Being vu-vulnerable sucks and I can't control the things I say."
He apologized, his face burning up. You only chuckled as a reaction and shake your head.
"It's alright. You're not used on being vulnerable aren't ya..?"
"I rarely get emotional. People say that I'm adorable when I'm bad. They don't have standards nowadays."
"Oh?"
Your interest peeked, hearing that he got a bad side. You instantly remembered the past dates he had. Is he a manwhore, or not?
But something wasn't right with his story, yet you can't point it out. As the conversation goes on, you've been deducing a little conclusion about him.
A bad boy; who gets rarely emotional, cries over a huge fight just because of a video with a questionable name?
Unless that roommate is very important, it seems off.
"If you're known for being bad, that's probably the reason why girls swoon over you and you date them here, am I right?"
He looked calm, but it's seem you caught him off guard.
"R-right."
"Oh sorry if that question is personal, you looked troubled."
"N-no.. it's alright I-"
Abruptly, he turned around with his back facing you. You were stuck in deep confusion as you heard him mutter strings of curses that is being muffled with his hands.
"Damn you Jay. Perfect plan my ass."
He whispered to himself. Perfect plan? You asked yourself. What does that mean?? And does he know Jay?
Nevertheless, you tried to attract his attention again because you're getting worried. You tapped on his left shoulder.
"A-are you oka-"
"Y-yeah! I'm fine! Keep the change!"
With those candy bars, he stormed off from the store with such inhumane speed. All that was left was the money he placed on the counter.
The store's atmosphere was back to it's original state- pure serene. Silence dominated the place filled with sickly sweet aroma, against your troubled mind flooded with thoughts of him.
Saturday, and you woke up with a killer headache. You assumed you're experiencing hangover but then again, you don't drink. The bed that was parallel against yours was empty, and it turns out that it's already lunch time so your roommate probably left to eat.
After fixing yourself up to look more presentable, you left the dorms and head straight to the school's park instead of the cafeteria.
You looked down on your phone and open the messaging app. After few types, your message has been delivered.

It took him awhile to find you, stopping dead on his tracks to scan his surroundings around, only to see you with a displeased look on your face.
Jay, your friend since high school, approached you with an innocent looking goofy grin. He's holding a half-eaten slice of pizza and his phone.
"I promise you, I did my thesis homewo-"
"That's not what I'm going to talk about- well, anyways, good job. But still!"
He sported you with a curious stare, his expression was hinting that he needed an answer to his questions in his mind. You quietly watched him munch on his pizza childishly.
"Jay, do you know someone with violet hair in a mohaw-"
You were interrupted when he broke into coughs, choking on his pizza. You quickly patted his back as he tried to regain his demeanour.
You didn't have water on you, but after few moments, he seemed fine already as he threw away the tissue he used to hold his pizza.
"What did you say again, (Y/N)?"
He gazed at you innocently, but he was too suspicious to escape your interrogation.
"Jay. Did you devised some sort of plan recently?"
"I pla-planned to b-burn the chemistry class because I didn't want to take the te-test..?"
He answered you tentatively and you knew something was wrong. Jay is known for being a good liar, but being friends with him for years had an effect on you and his lies doesn't work on you anymore.
That's probably the reason why he respects you, because of fear perhaps.
You gave him a look and asked him the same question again but with a different tone.
"Alright! Alright! Sheesh, you're hurting my nonexistent soul! I did plan on stealing your gummy bea- Ouch! That hurts!"
He hissed at you when you punched him right at his side. It wasn't that strong but Jay acted that way. You shot a glare at him and stay silent, until he gave up and sighed deeply.
"Stephen is going to murder me before I get any chance to kill him."
Jay frowned, but his expression doesn't have any trace of fear or nervousness.
"Stephen?"
You echoed, to which he simply nod his head as a response.
"That purple teletubby who's always present in your store."
Your eyes widened, hearing his name for the first time ignited something. It had a nice ring to it, the memory of the flustered boy made you crack a smile.
Jay let out a squeak ("pfft-") as he look at you, trying his best not to laugh or he'll die.
"A-are you attracted to hi-him?"
All of the sudden, your face heat up and you elbowed your overjoyed friend on the stomach because of your instinct.
"N-no! Why are you laughing anyway? And why did you make such foolish plan?! He was so embarrassed as well!"
Jay couldn't hold it in and laughed out loud, enough to gain few attention of people near the both of you. He held his stomach out of joy, his boisterous laughter still echoes through your ears.
"Why do you think I made that plan, Ms. Honeydense?? Duh, you have him wrapped around your tiny little finger!"
"What do you mean by that? Am I his next target? Is he going to use a spell on me??"
Jay spanked you from behind your head wight after he facepalmed, pinching the bridge of his nose afterwards. His attitude clearly changed.
"Even Hosuh can get it easily. Geez, you're a hopeless case (Y/N)." he started, his arms crossed. "You got fooled with his 'date' traps, huh? Well, to put it simply, ever since the first day of school, Stephen found you interesting. So when I told him that you work on a sweet shop, we asked my female friends to help him out and observe you."
"That's low-key creepy."
"Everyone is creepy. Stephen's just worst."
Jay let out a silly small laugh as an reaction to your expression you were wearing.
Talking to this guy is getting nowhere. you reminded to yourself to give him more tasks when you're going to tutor him for the next finals.
Then, he cleared his throat and went back to explaining.
"Just kidding, my female friends are actually helping him about love advices and observing you in a not-so-creepy way. Stephen wants to see you, that's all. He's a little shy." he smiled warmly.
"Scratch that thought, Stephen is not shy. That little shit gets on my nerves sometimes."
"You sound like you two get along very well."
"Of course, we are twins!"
All of the sudden, Jay's phone rings for a call. Both of you looked at his pocket, and Jay had to excuse himself.
"I gotta answer since it's my dad, see you later (Y/N)!"
You waved at him goodbye, watching him until he's out of sight because he blended in with the sea of students.
Your (f/c) eyes stared at the bright blue sky dusted with white clouds that are scattered through the blue horizon.
Stephen, huh? you closed your eyes and a smile slowly formed.
When will I see you again?
"Nagisa Shiota?"
"No."
"Killua Zoldyck..?"
"Nope."
"Hinata Shouyo?"
"Not at all."
You stare at the pair who was sitting on a table just right next to the corner. For some reason, you find the two entertaining to watch. They visited the sweet shop for the fifth time this week, and since it's Friday, they stayed a little longer.
The blonde looked at her friend dead in the eyes, her interest in living left her soul.
"Oh wow." the girl mumbled, resting her head against her palm. "We are no longer friends."
The brunet's breath hitched and he winced in pain, faking his sobs.
"I told you, I'm not gay."
"But you were yesterday, Je."
"No I was not!"
"Yes you were!"
They continued to bicker back and forth, but their voices weren't that disruptive. You chuckled, it reminded you of some memories when you had someone to have childish fights with too.
But soon they stopped as the bell rang, both of them finally accepted their stands and left right after the person entered the store.
Your eyes widened, you remembered that completely forgot about him.
Stephen entered the store with a troubled expression, completely nervous and is in verge to run away because he developed a cold feet.
You found it adorable, so you smiled warmly at him.
"Welcome to the Fryxell Sweet Shop!"
Ignoring the aisles filled with sweets and treats, he managed to approach you while looking down.
"H-hey.. (Y/N), I'm sorry. Since Jay told you everything, maybe you got creeper out or somethin-"
"Chin up, buttercup. Jay told me that you don't act like that."
Stephen looked at you in surprise.
"Here's your change."
You handed him fifty dollars and thirty cents, the change he totally forgot last week because of the embarrassing incident.
Stephen let out a chuckle and pocketed it, he looked at you with his usual goofy grin he would always wear in his 'dates'.
"Let's start again. Hi there, I'm Stephen."
He stretched out his right hand and you found yourself looking at him. You hold his hand and shake it in return.
"I'm (Y/N). Would I interest you with our sweetest treat?"
"I thought they don't sell workers here."
You've never blushed this long in your whole life until now. Stephen is someone strange alright, he left quite an impact on you.
