oof so uh... 'city lights' was a Wonderland!AU draft. After a few digging here and there I found the old draft but it was unfinished.
I liked the wholesome concept to it so I rewrite the whole thing. And I changed the ship present in this one-shot.
And oh, the 'take a shot' one-shot is actually from the Band!AU. The song 'take a shot' is an unfinished draft that inspired the creation of 'kill the queen' and 'noise'.
Fun fact: Both songs are created by the RR: Cerise's main vocalist; Wendy and performed by another RR: Cerise member; Craig.
This one-shot serves as another practice so it sucks like the other ones I've made. I can only make garbage of.
The place of the story is made up bECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WONDERLAND BUT NOW ITS NOT SO DON'T ASK ME WHERE THE FUCK WERE THEY FROM-
AND if the characters are OOC, kill me. But being dead doesn't change the fact that sTEPHEN IS A KIRIBAKU SHIPPER AND MY LOVE FOR THAT BEAN INCREASES EVEN MORE.

It was a freezing cold night of October, like any other night of autumn. There was always a hum created by the blowing winds, the scattering of the fallen leaves on the ground blended well with the silence. The dark night sky was clear and tainted with blinking dots of white, the moon shined, illuminating the lonely ground albeit slightly. Serenity- a word that fits the description- enveloped the busy houses, yet only a few appreciate it's presence.
The scene opens on the cemented road connecting the well-known farm located on the mountain to its foot where few houses are built-in, and an intersection with roads connecting to the main square, the beach, and more houses. The place was filled in complete silence- setting aside the sounds nature creates.
It was quarter to seven in the evening, the night's still young for the pair who's only present in the area. Both are on their way back to their house after picking up some fruits and vegetables from the farm. They were late, but they made sure to inform others about it so they won't have to wait for them for dinner. The duo was invited by the old couple from the farm to have dinner with them.
With contented smiles on their faces, they head back home. The purple-haired boy wished they brought their bikes along with them because he didn't like the idea of walking right after a delicious meal.
All of a sudden, the shorter boy stopped on his tracks, his bluebell eyes glimmered in amusement. His gaze was locked onto the sight before him, city lights shining in the night scene from the distance.
He let out a little silent squeal, admiring what he's seeing. This caught his friend's attention who was walking in front, who stopped and looked at him with a curious stare.
"Is there a problem?" Stephen questioned, then he approached the other before he stood beside him.
"Hmm?" the albino briefly took a glance at him, before sporting a genuine joyful smile. "Not at all. Why did you ask?"
"First, you suddenly stopped and spaced out. Two, you have this smile on your face, it creeps me out."
The shorter boy winced. "Hey! I'm not creepy!"
"I didn't say that."
Hosuh huffed, averting his gaze back at the beautiful scenery. He tucked some of his hair behind his ear before letting out a sigh.
"Don't you think it's pretty?" He asked his friend, who looked completely clueless.
Stephen shook his head. "I don't know. I don't even know what or who you're talking about."
"Geez, look at that sight. Don't tell me you don't find it pretty." he gestured at his right, avoiding pointing fingers at the process.
Stephen followed, his eyes glued as he scanned the places before him. But he couldn't conclude what was he talking about. Some houses are pretty, but Stephen doesn't have time for those.
Puzzled, he went silent for a few minutes, trying to find out what he meant. He saw the pretty stars plastered on the night sky, and he blinked back at them. He tugged his dark navy blue hood and pointed upwards.
"The sky is pretty, isn't it?" he said.
"Of course it is!" the albino beamed and looked up. "But sometimes, pretty things are also right around you."
Stephen shot a look and scoffed mockingly. "Are you saying you're cute?"
"That's not what I meant."
"Haha, I was about to say 'dream on', but I'll save it for some other time."
"Ne..? What I meant was, the lights from the town."
Warm orange and yellow lights weakly shined from the dark and cold tall black posts that laid evenly beside the sidewalks. There were different lights coming out from different directions, yet it wasn't blinding because of the distance. It looked like the golden specks of dust.
It reminded Hosuh of the fireflies he once saw, but this time, these fireflies stay dormant and they're gathered in one big space.
Stephen hummed, grabbing a piece of strawberry and popped it into his mouth. "Meh." he said, uninterested.
"You're practically blind at this point." Hosuh deadpanned. "Or you have poor taste."
"You see buttercup, I'm not into observing and appreciating the wonders of the world. But I would like it if you would explain why you find it amazing."
"You're boring."
"No. You're boring." Stephen pointed directly at Hosuh's forehead. "It's just lighting."
"Yeah! Lights!" he beamed.
"How about it?"
Hosuh seemed like he wasn't in the mood to explain because he rather stays silent and just stares in awe than trying to prove his point. But he couldn't resist the overwhelming positivity that was calming him down.
"The cold winds that hug you tight. The night sky with stars shining so bright." he started. "The feeling of pure peace along with the comforting silence and the shuffling of leaves. And you're just out here, not minding the beauty that it has."
"With this distance, the lights are so small. It reminded me of the fact that we- ourselves- are just tiny dots on the surface of the earth. Despite being an insignificant thought, the warmth I can feel through the warm colors felt so genuine."
There were a lot of words he wanted to add more, but he paused to glance back at the purple-haired boy to send a shy smile.
"That's all?"
"I still have a lot in mind, but is my explanation sufficient?"
"No, you should add more."
Stephen only wanted to listen to his rambling about random topics, the most random topics that he starts are the ones Stephen likes the most because he can catch his best genuine smiles.
He is aware of what Hosuh was trying to prove to him. As a matter of fact, he does agree to his point, but he couldn't really find himself liking it to the point he'll stop just to admire it.
On the other hand, Hosuh is completely different. Unlike Stephen who keeps overlooking things, he would go from one small detail and to another. That's why he progresses slower than the rest, he's enjoying his journey bit by bit, second by second.
"Just like the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the sight of the city lights under the night sky gives me fuzzy warm feelings. Don't you feel it?" Hosuh asked. "The feeling like you're falling. The feeling of wanting more. The feeling of content and peace."
"Like, scrolling through social media and playing video games is fun and all but have you ever sat down and just admire something that seems completely normal for everyone, only to find great things about it that eventually calms you down.?" He continued.
"Just like the rain?" Stephen questioned.
The other nodded in reply. "Just like the rain." he smiled at him. "You sure do love rainy days."
Stephen snickered and his dark brown eyes shined as the warm lights from the distance reflected. "I find them very peaceful."
"That's nothing different from now."
"Now that you mentioned it.." he paused before he beamed childishly, Hosuh's positivity was rubbing off on him. "..the lights sure looks beautiful at night."
Both fell in comforting silence, none of them tried to break it because they had no intention to do so. It was getting colder as the number of winds increases as time goes by, but it didn't bother the two- who felt warm with the feelings brewing inside them.
Moments later, Stephen finally took his eyes off from the town and back at Hosuh, who kept staring at it with a contented small smile pasted on his face. Stephen shyly looked back, before speaking.
"You're really something." he mumbled, enough for him to hear. He received a confused 'hm' from the albino who didn't even bother to look at him in the eye.
"Something- how?" Hosuh questioned.
"It's the way you make me see the beauty in things I once thought were ordinary. It's a fascinating trait."
His bluebell eyes widened at Stephen's sudden compliment, to which his face flushed a little. He let out a soft giggle and finally met his dark brown eyes.
"Really?" He asked, stepping closer to the taller male.
"Hmm... I don't know." Stephen responded with sarcasm hinted in his tone.
Hosuh smirked, looping an arm to his. "You should have one of those as well. Notable traits, I mean. You're too boring" it was his turn to joke, with a little salt.
"Oh wow, shut up Hosuh."
"Hehe." Hosuh's response was followed by a giggle. "Now let's go back home."
They continued walking after their break, their hands intertwined. The night was still young. And the pair cherished every second together, under the warm light and the star-filled dark night sky.
I was thinking about making a chapter mainly for the OC twitter posts.
But my procrastination is like:
"Binge search KageHina you little shit."
And my KageHina heart is cRYING YOU CAN'T DO THIS SHIT TO ME- JUST IMAGINE SEEING THE OTHER'S NEW MOVES AND THEY'LL BE LIKE: GUAAHHHHH THAT'S MY BOY AND I'M JUST-
and ah ya know. we shall forget about BSD's angsty update for awhile.
