Aemond Targaryen. Meant to be a king and born a third son. At least that is what he told himself. Aemond had always hated being the third son, standing to inherit nothing. All he had was his title as Prince. Brother to a future queen or king if his mother's plan succeeds. Aegon and Aenar were the firstborn sons of Alicent Hightower and King Viserys Targaryen.

Aegon had been born with all Targaryen traits while his twin brother, Aenar, had the Hightower traits. Aegon was meant to be king, at least that's what Alicent and Otto had always said about him. Aenar was far more suited than Aegon. He had been preparing himself his whole life, even when he knew he would never be king.

Aerella Velaryon was Rhaenyra's only daughter, her precious girl. She was to be married to her brother. Being the eldest child of the future queen meant she'd be the next queen. Jacaerys loved his sister, he would do anything for her. And she loved him, having eyes for him alone. Aemond and his brothers had always had their eyes on her, they wanted her, they wanted her love, her attention. Aerella was a dotting sister to her brothers and anyone in her family, except Alicent Hightower and her children.

Many had said that Aerella was her mother's daughter, the Realm's Delight born again. Her father, Lord Laenor Velaryon taught her the art of sword fighting. Ser Harwin was her sworn sword, he protected her from harm and loved her like his own. Her mother taught her history, lore, and anything she needed to know about Westeros and the realm. Her grandfather taught her about politics and all she needed to know as the future queen after her mother, many said King Viserys taught her much more than he did to his own daughter.

Aerella was never close with her aunt and uncles but she was cordial with them. She never spoke ill of them or gave them a bad look. She'd greet them and smile if she saw them in the halls, in rare times she'd make conversation even a dance or two during feasts and celebrations. The family had been divided before she was even born, but it didn't stop when the children were born.

After the Driftmark incident, House Targaryen truly became a house of two teams. The Blacks and the Greens. Alicent believed her son should be king as he was the king's firstborn son, but Rhaenyra was the king's firstborn child. Rhaenyra knew she was the rightful heir, everyone knew it. The only thing was, many preferred a man over a woman on the throne, Rhaenys and Viserys were the very proof of it, and Rhaenyra and Aegon too.

Aerella was a grown woman. She was ten and six, and her brother ten and five. They had just welcomed their first child into the world. A son who they named Baelon in honor of their great-great-grandfather and in honor of their mother's brother who died minutes after childbirth. The Targaryen family returned to court then, the young prince was only four moons old yet, his great-grandfather threw a feast in his honor, he was gonna be the king after his mother, the princess Aerella.

Everyone knew Princess Aerella was Lord Laenor's only child with Princess Rhaenyra, yet no one ever said a word. Her grandparents did not come to play when it came to their only granddaughter. The king, the sea snake, and the queen who never was were ready to kill and maim anyone who dared to even whisper something about their sweet girl.

The celebration was a big one. Everyone across the realm had been invited, and they all attended. No one wanted to miss the celebration of the next king of the Seven Kingdoms. Aenar was in love with Aerella, but Aerella only had eyes for Jace and Jace alone. Yet, Jacaerys knew his uncles felt something for his lady wife. During the feast, Prince Aenar asked her for a dance, and she agreed. "Motherhood suits you, niece" she smiled at his words. "The gods have blessed Jacaerys and I with a healthy so " she replied. She liked Aenar more than she liked her other three uncles, she also liked Helaena, she was sweet and kind and she felt sad because she was married off to Aegon.

"I hear you will move back to King's Landing" he states and she nods. "Yes, grandsire says its time for me to be involved in the matters of court. My mother wishes for me to be her hand. I want to learn as much as I can and Lord Strong will also share some of his wisdom with me" he nodded. "That is nice of him" Aenar replied. "You'll be a great queen" he whispered. The words tasted bittersweet in his mouth because he knew what his mother and grandfather were planning. Yet, deep down he knew Aerella would be a good queen if given the chance. "If you are here when I become queen I would like for you to have a place in my court, in my council" he was taken aback by her words. "Perhaps Aemond as well. I know our families are not close as we should be but I heard about you are well known for having the best connections in around the realm and more, politics and all. Aemond, I hear he is good with a sword, perhaps the commander of the Gold Cloaks and our army" he nodded.

Aenar Targaryen felt sick. He felt like puking. In front of his stood the woman his mother taught to hate, Aerella was never mean nor rude, nothing of that sort, in the contrary she was kind and good, everything his family was not. He wager she was far better than everyone in his own family. Yet, she was offering him a place in her court, her mother had told him and his siblings that as soon as Rhaenyra and her daughter became queens they would be sent away to Old Town or murder to give them a clear path to the throne. "I'd like that" he said with a smile yet the uneasiness never left him. Aerelle returned to her family, for the rest of the night he watched her. She migled with her family, every now and then she'd dance wiht a lord, she was good at making connections and getting others to like her.

As she had said, Aerella and her husband remained in King's Landing where she was allowed in council meetings, Jacaerys would be there every now and then but the young lord was more into sword training and his studies as the future king consort. And for a while the realm was good, just peace and quiet but not for long.
