"Oh, you probably came looking for this, right?"
The younger pulled out a small paper note.
Chan's eyes widened a bit, he reached quickly but gently for the paper.
"It fell out of your headphone case when you grabbed it rapidly from me.."
Chan fell silent for a moment, he was on a loss for words somewhat. I kinda was his fault the note got into Felix's hands.
Right now though, he was glad Felix - who would return it to him -ย had picked it up and not someone else.
"Did you.. uhm.. read it?"
Felix scratched the back of his neck, not being able to resist his genuine curiosity, he had read it. "...I did, I'm sorry." He started fidgeting with his fingers, knowing he shouldn't have done so. Chan sighed barely audible.
"These notes are lyrics, right?"
The older boy nodded. No one has ever read the lyrics Chan wrote before. He didn't want anyone to read them. Lyrics are a way for Chan to express himself. Express things he can't say to anyone. They're also his way to process.
"I really liked it."
Chan's eyes shot up at Felix's.
"I.. well, probably read it about 6 times or so."
He lied.
He knew he had read it many more times. Felix visualized the lyrics word by word in his head.
[ Everything that was in my heart was stolen
I want to find myself before I go numb
Even if doesn't seem like a big deal
At least once in a million times
Don't make this mistake, don't end this
In this cruel world ]

"You're extremely talented"
Felix smiled warmly. Chan felt somewhat.. flattered? And definitely taken aback, digressing into his thoughts. It's more than rare for him to receive compliments but now, from Felix? - he would've never even dared to dream about this happening.
So now, he was literally too stunned to speak. He didn't know how to act.
How does someone usually handle compliments?
"I wouldn't quite say I'm that talented.. it's all mostly hard work. I guess it pays off." Chan started - probably his first ever proper sentence to the other boy.
"But still uhm.. thank you." He said quieter.
And awkward silence approached them.
Felix rubbing his arm covered by his sleeve, while Chan just starred down at the note paper, remembering what he wanted to ask Felix originally.ย
The younger male on the other wanted desperately wanted to ask Chan what the reasoning behind the lyrics were.
Both not knowing how to.
Soon enough it was too late, as the other guys in their gym class opened the door.
Since Felix was done changing, he got up to leave.
There was nothing Chan could do about it, so he thought. Either he'd just ask him another time or he'd just forget about it.
What would I even say to him?
"I really liked it."
"You're extremely talented"
These words caused a spread of warmth through Chan's body.
Felix genuine smile frozen in his mind.
.
.
.
As he starred at the ceiling of the changing room, his thoughts wandered back and forth between lyrics and Felix's words before.
Somehow, he couldn't get these out of his head anymore. He scribbled down the lyrics he was thinking about.
[ I can't say anything
Words just linger in my mouth
Sometimes I get scared
Will someone notice?
I shout louder in the sound of rain
I'm afraid all my words will be buried
The sky is getting cloudy ]
(โชEnglish lyrics of "Secret secret" -
"Noeasy" album)
Since Minho said he had other plans today, Chan didn't care to hurry as no one was waiting for him anyway.
On his way home, he decided to go through the park close to the high school. Usually he's never even two feet near this place as it reminds too much of a certain someone.
And the incidents come along with the memories.
But he couldn't believe what he saw.
It was Minho, though not just him, he was with Jisung, Hyunjin and Felix.
Chan could feel his heart tighten.
His gut wrenching.
He felt jealous.
He knew it.
He was anxious.
And he knew it.
Scared he might lose Minho,
to him. To Felix.
Doesn't he have enough friends?, he thought.
He was angry at Minho for spending time with them without telling Chan.
Somewhat, he was furios it had to be Felix.
But at last, the most hatred went towards Chan himself.
He was a bad friend, a bad person, a horrible human. Or so he thought.
Minho was his only friend. Seeing him possibly drifting away from him, drove him mad. Especially if he felt like losing his only friend to Felix. A guy who is friends with basically anyone.
A guy who is too perfect.
"Talented, liking the lyrics and all.. bullshit.", he cursed under his breath.
"He would probably tell that to the next best person." Chan crumbled the paper in his hands.
"Why did I even let these empty words get to me? It's still Felix we're talking about."
