A Little Birdie Told Me
Tango's Perspective-
Tango glanced up when Grian got back to their Common Room.
"How was your date?" Tango asked, putting down his quill and blowing a bit on the parchment to get the ink to dry. He grumbled as a couple of the letters ran and he rolled his eyes, crumpling the paper and tossing it.
Grian didn't answer and instead just sat down on one of the chairs. Tango raised an eyebrow; he was expecting shouting about how it wasn't a date or him gushing about how in love he was, not silence.
"You good?" He asked and Grian finally broke into conversation.
"I can't do this anymore, Tango. I can't deal with this pain." Grian said, looking on the verge of tears.
"What? Did he hurt you? I can beat him up but I mean Pearl would do so much more damage." Tango said, rushing over to his friend.
Grian tried to giggle and he shook his head.
"No, no he kissed me..."
Tango blinked and then tilted his head.
"So...why are you in pain?"
"Cause he's a Hufflepuff. It'd be so hard for us to meet up and date and keep in contact with everything. It's practically impossible... I mean yeah it could work but..." Grian trailed off, his doubts overpowering him.
"Wow way to make me feel invisible."
Grian raised an eyebrow and Tango smiled.
"Who's in a relationship with a Gryffindor right now? Who in this room is also a Slytherin? Oh yeah, the guy you've been friends with the past four years of your life." Tango said and Grian couldn't help but grin and let out a chuckle.
"So how do you do it?"
"Oh, I don't know we just kinda figured it out." Tango said, taking out another piece of parchment paper.
"...WHY WERE YOU JUST SHOUTING ABOUT ME MAKING YOU FEEL INVISIBLE WHEN YOU HAVE NO GOOD ADVICE?!"
Tango burst out in laughter and Grian huffed.
"I'm actually asking for some assistance here." Grian admitted and Tango smiled a bit.
"Just try and talk to him about it, you two will figure out what stuff you can do. The more comfortable you get the more you don't mind hiding it as much. Honestly me and Skizz have been caught holding hands so much now we just stopped caring."
Grian shrugs and Tango patted his back.
"You don't gotta put so much pressure on yourself, it's up to you two how fast or slow you go, not anyone else."
"Yeah, you're right." Grian sighed and laid back against the chair, slumping down.
"So I assume it went well if he kissed you?" Tango asked, dipping his quill in the ink and beginning to write again.
Grian blushed and he looked away, hiding his face in his hands.
"It was fine..." He muttered, not taking his eyes off the glowing fire.
The fire crackled, sending soft sparks into the night air. It was a quiet moment, the kind that seemed to stretch on forever.
Grian sat there, still feeling the heat in his cheeks; his mind flickering back to the kiss, how it felt, how it had caught him off guard, how he hadn't expected it but... wasn't sure he wanted it to end.
Finally, Grian broke the silence, his voice soft.
"It was... different." Grian said slowly. "In a good way, I think."
Tango glanced up and smiled, resting his chin in his hand as he thought about his boyfriend.
"Sometimes it just feels like that. That fear can hold onto you longer than you'd like."
Grian looked over at him and nodded.
"Yeah...you're probably right."
The fire continued its quiet rumble, and the orange light danced in Grian's hair, making it shimmer with a warmth that matched his heart.
