" Do you hear them ?"

A small hum was heard , a girl with wavy brown hair had her eyes closed while her and her stepdad were outside .

The distant chirps of birds flying by or sitting in trees .

' I want to be able to fly just like them one day . . .'

" Papa ? Do you ever think we'll be able to fly like them ?" The small girl asked , her doe eyes opening up as she looked up at her father figure .

The man chuckled as he stared at his daughter . " Maybe one day , Mija ." He smiled at her as she continued to stare at the birds .

' Guess that day finally came . . .'

' Why'd you have to leave so soon , Papa ?'

Cassidy woke up from her sleep now back in her room .

Staring up at her ceiling as she laid in bed , not realizing the tears streaming down her cheeks from reminiscing on the past .

She glanced over at her clock .

2:00 AM

She sighed before turning over in her bed try to go back to sleep .

Tossing and turning , until she finally was comfortable enough to be lulled back to sleep .

Cassidy and Bella had made their way into school , even though they didn't know each other long , Bella could tell something was up with Cassie already .

" Are you ok ? You look exhausted ." Bella asked , both of them linked their arms together as they walked to their lockers together then making their way to their first periods .

The curly haired brunette nodded mindlessly . She was tired , yes , but she didn't want the other to worry .

" Yeah , I'm fine . Just couldn't sleep well last night . " Cass shrugged as she looked at Bella for a moment trying to come off as normal as possible .

" Ok , whatever you say . ." The girl was clearly not convinced .

" He's not here today .. " Bella said to her friend as she sat down at their lunch table looking over at the Cullens every so often .

Cassidy looked over at her as she was taking a bit out of her sandwich . " Who ?"

" Edward . Ever since yesterday .. i just want to know what his problem it ." Bella explained to Cassie . She looked a little frustrated .

" I get it Bells , but just calm down . Just know it's not your fault ." Cassidy shrugged before continuing to eat her food .

Little did she know .

When Edward Cullen came back to school , a lot of shit was going to start happening ...
