THE warm air forced against the brown skin of the siblings as they sauntered along the sidewalk and busy streets of the city. kiron threw his arm around synner's shoulders. out of all the siblings, they were known to be the closest. the year apart between them was practically invisible. they even do everything together. they ate together, they lived together, they had fun together. today was no different as they made their way to shaq's and elias' art studio grand opening.

the strip of retail stores sat a little ways across from the courthouse which seemed to be loaded with many people. kiron payed it no mind, figuring it was normal as he pulled on the door to shaq's shop. "i think mom will be here. dad said he wouldn't be able make it." kiron spoke with a hint of sadness in his voice. he was usually the sibling the most affected whenever a parent couldn't show up to a function. he was all for family bonding and often felt like he failed when he couldn't get a member to show up.

synner nodded understandingly. they've also learned quick that one parent was always better than none. they walked in, finding shaq, elias, and teddy behind a welcome table and various art pieces around the fully furnished sleek and modern studio. "um, what the fuck kind of festival is going on across the street?" synner frowned, pointing over her shoulder as she walked over to them. more importantly, why did she not know about said festival.

"synner lei vaughn." she heard her mother's voice coming from the back room. teddy giggled at her causing synner to playfully fake fight him.

"sorry mommy," she gave her mother a pouty lip before looking around the studio once again. "i mean, the place looks good though."

elias was generally used to the vaughn family and how they interacted, being shaquille's best friend for ten years now. he was practically family at this point. "there's no festival, synn. that's just the courthouse casually being turned into a skatepark. also thanks, we've put a lot of work in as you know."

synner raised an eyebrow. "doesn't that kinda suck? like wouldn't it mess with business and stuff?"

"nah not at all, one day we got the rich people that go down to the courthouse, you know for money and shit and then another day we got random ass kids who wanna spend their money and buy art that makes their parents mad. issa win win." elias explained, throwing up a peace sign.

"oddly that makes sense," she shrugged, sneaking a cookie off the table that was clearly for customers before her mom could see. "have you seen jher though?"

"she's home the last time i checked. you haven't talked to her? what kind of besties.." he shook his head in disbelief.

"hush. she hasn't replied to me so maybe you should check your own sister. i might stop by later i guess."

"i think she and her boyfriend are breaking up again to be honest. that's probably what it is." elias reasoned as he thought about why his sister jheri had been so standoffish lately.

"aw hell! not she breaking up with the plug.. where we gon get our shit from?"

"shut yo loud ass up." shaq laughed, shaking synner's shoulder. he was more so worried about scaring customers away. "always telling on yourself."

shaq then stood in the middle of the shop to introduce himself to the new people in the shop. "greetings, my name is shaq. this is elias and this is the grand opening of our first art studio. art is courtesy of me and my guy here is the great stager he makes sure things get done. but welcome, take a look around, find something you like or for ya momma and just let us know if you need anything. be sure to grab some treats mrs. vaughn made. i'm also taking some commissions at this time."

"okay, not the business man voice." synner laughed, snapping her fingers as she chilled on the couch in the lounge area. shaq only rolled his eyes at synner.

RAY walked into some art shop behind his friends after their usual skating at the courthouse. it was always the best time until some stupid security guards had to run them off the property. his highly experienced skater friends, riker, bronx, neriah and caleb weren't ready to go home and neither was he to be honest.

it was different hanging out with them rather than his normal crew of fuckshit, fourthgrade, ruben, and stevie. these other guys were some serious skaters. like the real deal. they had money and shit and could promote him to pros and famous people. it all started at one skate off. they saw the fire ray had and invited him to hang out ever since then. ray had it planned that once he got on their level and farther he'd bring his original crew with him but of course there was levels to this shit.

"i can't believe you missed ray today! man, that shit was like crazy." riker told neriah, lunging onto his shoulders excitedly.

ray shrugged, not trying to hype them up. "it wasn't all that. i could've done better." he had messed up some of tricks bad but really only he knew that. he knew how he should've looked.

"hey, welcome to urbane life art studio." synner spoke while tidying up a display by the door. she liked making sure things were neat and all but she hoped shaquille knew this was a one time thing.

"shit.. there's art in here alright." caleb snickered, nudging ray. ray only shook his head, chuckling at caleb and bronx. he agreed but he wasn't gonna say nothing. females weren't his priority right now.

"that part." bronx nodded in agreement, pretending to look at the art but really looking at synner. although, she clearly heard them and chose to ignore them. it just seemed like a lot of personalities that she wasn't in the mood for.

all of a sudden, one of the canvases fell off a display and onto the ground. riker and neriah instantly locked eyes with synner. "oh shit. our bad."

"it's cool." she shrugged, trying to play it cool as she went over to pick it up and put it back on display correctly.

"y'all sell customs?" riker asked synner who he thought who was pretty. even though he genuinely wanted to know about the art and genuinely wanted to talk to her.

she looked at the boy with a shaved head dyed pink. bold of him to assume she worked there. "um. you're bleeding." her eyes dropped down to his arm.

"i guess i am, huh. you heard though? i'm looking for some like custom shit." he continued going on about customs like she even cared.

"over there at the counter. my brother makes them." synner simply told him as she walked away from them. her words might cause her brother not to make any money.

"alright cool. thanks."

"they sounded rude as fuck." kiron said with a scowl on his face as she walked over to him and teddy. most of the time he didn't have to worry about people stepping over synner but she'd been in this nice mood lately.

"yeah.. but that's not my problem. let's go eat." synner tossed her bag on her shoulder, grabbing kiron's hand and pulling him out the shop.

"uh uh, i'm coming with y'all." teddy jumped up from the chair and followed his siblings out the door and into the city.
