"My name is Y/N L/N. I was bitten by a radioactive spider at a school field trip two years ago. Since then, I've been the one and only Spider-Man. I'm pretty sure you know the rest, but since we're here, why don't we do this once more?
I managed to get all A's my sophomore year, had my sketches featured in the school's art fair, saved my best friend a few times, saved some more people from bad guys, even one who was dressed like a vulture.
But it hasn't always been easy.
I couldn't save my Dad.
So now, I pretty much save everyone. Or at least try to.
I guess it's my way of avenging his death in some sorts.
To the world, I am Y/N L/N, just a regular teenager trying to get through high school. But to myself and my best friend Peter, I am Spider-Man.
The one and only.
And this is my story.
๐ท๏ธ
Jessica L/N was hard at work in the L/N household, getting the house clean for her son's impending arrival from school.
It had been coming up to two years since her beloved husband Jacob had died, leaving behind herself and their teenage son. The police had said that the man had been mugged and killed at the hands of a few criminals while walking home from work one night.
What made it even worse, was that her son witnessed the crime. It had been a bad night after an argument between the two, and Y/N having to see his father be killed wasn't in the cards.
Jessica let out a heavy exhale, tears flowing down her cheeks as her mind continued to wander.
Probably should stop thinking about it for now. Y/N would hopefully be home soon. Although these days Y/N would often come home late at night and would disregard her concerns.
Right on cue, Y/N L/N walked in through the front door, causing his mother to turn to him with a large smile, one that quickly faltered as she noticed the obvious black eye on Y/N's face.
"Hi, honey. How was your... Oh my God, what happened to your face!" She exclaimed, inspecting the bulging wound swiftly and carefully.
"It's nothing, Mom, really. I fell down the stairs going to second period," the boy reassured, trying to calm down his distressed mother, although unsuccessfully.
Jessica gave her son a heated glare. She knew her son was lying to her to calm her down, and if there is one thing she did not like, it was when her son was lying to her.
"I swear, Y/N, if Flash is giving you problems again-"
"Mom! I'm fine!" Y/N said in irritation, wanting this conversation to be over. "Besides, Flash doesn't even come near me anymore."
He was still lying.
Jessica knew that Y/N was fibbing, but she decided not to press more on the subject, for both herself and Y/N's sake.
"Alright," she nodded reluctantly. "But you do know that if you are in any trouble, you can always come to me, right? You know I worry."
"Yes, Mom." Y/N nodded. "Can I please go do my homework now? I have a lot to catch up on."
"It seems like you've had a lot of homework nowadays. Have you been going to class?"
Y/N looked at Jessica expectantly. He had been skipping a few classes this last week but would never admit it. Ever since Herman Schultz had escaped from prison, Y/N had a lot on his plate.
Skipping his gym classes to try and confront Schultz had become the new norm this week. He had several detentions and calls home, in which he gave the school a fake number to use. He couldn't let his Mom know what he was doing with his time instead of going to school. She worries enough already.
"Yeah, just a lot of chemistry modules and calc problems. Professor Warren is not letting up on us this semester."
Jessica seemed to buy that excuse, as she nodded in response.
"Alright, well don't work too hard. I'll let you know when dinner is ready. May and Peter are coming over in a few hours."
"Thanks, Mom," Y/N replied, retreating to his room with haste.
Minutes later, as Y/N finished his homework, the radio next to his desk blared, gaining the teenager's attention."
"All units, be advised, we have an emergency broadcast regarding an escaped convict, Herman Schultz, also known as The Shocker. The suspect is armed and dangerous. Proceed with caution," the dispatch explained. "The suspect was last seen heading towards New York City Bank. Use extreme caution."
Without a second thought, Y/N reached above his desk, opening a makeshift door where his P/C and S/C riddled suit fell through.
P/C: Primary Color
S/C: Secondary Color
Y/N quickly changed, slipping out of his window before sending a text to Peter.
Y/N: "I'll be out for a bit, cover for me ๐ท๏ธ"

Herman Schultz was on a mission, clad in his bright yellow suit and advanced gauntlets as he carefully counted the money. The Shocker surveyed the area, the safe door blown over in an intense state of destruction thanks to his new and improved digital gauntlets. The new weaponry had proved to be powerful enough to blow over even the strongest of steel.
Unfortunately, he realized he only had a minimal amount of time before the cops arrived or, God forbid, Spider-Man.
Herman carefully collected the money, placing the bills into black, hard case boxes. Three million dollars were to be delivered to Roman, and he would be rewarded handsomely.
Simple task, right?
He wasn't sure what he was doing getting himself involved with the Maggia, but he could use the money and other forms of protection.
He closed the cases, ready to leave through the broken door. Suddenly, a voice caught him off guard.
"Herman!" Y/N called out, lowering himself down from the ceiling. "Didn't we just have this song and dance a few months ago?"
"God damn it," Herman sighed. "Not you again."
"Oh come on, Herman, I don't think you really value our close friendship," Y/N replied. "I'm not your parole officer, but I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy with you right now."
"Do you ever stop talking?"
"That's really a matter of opinion," Y/N shrugged. "Now let's make this quick, Herm. It's past my bedtime."
"A funny guy, huh?" Shocker scoffed. "Let's see how far that gets you."
"Huh?"
Y/N didn't have time to think quickly, as Shocker shot a great blast of energy from his gauntlets, blowing open the wall in which Y/N held on to.
Y/N flipped off of the wall, landing in front of the man and his dark boxes.
"Dude, that was cool!" Y/N exclaimed. "I really gotta pick your brain sometime."
"I told you to shut the hell up!" Shocker shouted.
"Yeah, but do I ever listen to what you say?" Y/N quipped.
"Now I'm gonna make sure you never annoy me again," Shocker growled, readying another launch.
"Knock yourself out," Y/N said, webbing a concrete block to throw at the man.
"You really think a piece of concrete is gonna stop me, insect?" Shocker quipped, blowing up the concrete.
"Nah, but it was a nice diversion, wasn't it?" Y/N remarked, shooting a web towards the criminal, delivering a fierce punch to the man's face.
"Damn, you're faster than last time," Shocker remarked, throwing a punch at the spiderling.
"Spider-like reflexes, it's a blessing," Y/N shouted, dodging the punches Shocker threw at him. He planned on tiring the man out, dodging his punches and weaving through.
Suddenly, Herman charged up his thruster, delivering a fierce blow to Y/N's stomach, sending the boy flying into the wall.
"What were you saying about your amazing reflexes?" Herman quipped, aiming his thruster at the teenage hero.
"I really jinxed myself, didn't I?" Y/N groaned, rolling off a pile of debris.
"I'm gonna get my money, and as a bonus, I'm gonna make sure you never bother me again," Herman smirked, aiming his thruster towards the boy.
Shocker shot his thruster, a big blast of high-frequency energy towards Y/N, who backflipped into the air before a set of bone-like stingers shot up from his forearms.
"Oh, you aren't going anywhere!" Y/N shouted, rushing towards the man head-on.
Shocker stood there, shooting blast after blast as Y/N carelessly dodged his shots, flipping over the man before slashing his arms.
Herman grew frustrated, running up to Spider-Man to try and fight him. He swung punches, but like before, the teenager effortlessly evaded them.
"Getting tired, Hermy?" Y/N taunted as he visibly began to see the Shocker slow down.
"Good."
Y/N leaped, punching the man in the face and knocking him to the ground. Before Herman could take another shot, Y/N webbed his arms down next to him.
"Why, you little..." Herman began. "Just wait till I get out of here..."
But before Herman could finish his sentence, Y/N shot a web towards his mouth.
"Yeah, yeah," Y/N said sarcastically. "Save it for the cops, Herman."
As if on cue, a commotion outside turned the attention of the two towards the entrance.
"Oh, and look who it is!" Y/N exclaimed. "Now get comfortable when the police arrive. Maybe I'll come visit you in jail, and we can talk science."
Herman shifted angrily as Y/N took off into the night, slinging his way from the demolished building into the night sky.
"Herman, Herman, Herman," a voice called out as the police surrounded the area for inspection. Herman turned his head and sighed angrily as he came face to face with Captain George Stacy.
"Your parole officer isn't going to like this one," George smirked, peeling the webbing off the criminal's mouth.
"Thanks, the kid already reminded me," Herman spat, making the police captain laugh.
"Ramirez, Duncan, get him out of here," Captain Stacy remarked, signaling for officers to bring Herman into custody.
Stacy inspected the area, debris and broken concrete covering the surroundings. The building was completely and utterly destroyed from the inside.
Sure, he was probably going to get a lot of heat for however much this damage was going to cost, but the fact of the matter was that things could have been a lot worse if Spider-Man wasn't there to intervene.
Most of the force didn't trust the vigilante, thinking it was some kid wanting to get attention and take the law into his hands. George knew better, however, that he genuinely was trying to help. It sure was making their jobs a lot easier.
George turned back to the topic at hand, getting Herman back to the RAFT and making sure he was under strict supervision so he wouldn't get out again.
And to call some contractors the next morning to begin fixing the bank building.

Jessica L/N stood in the kitchen, confused and slightly frustrated. Y/N had skipped out on their planned dinner with the Parker's and was nowhere to be found for hours. She was greatly concerned but sympathetic, given the fact that her husband's death had occurred just a few years ago. Y/N was taking it pretty hard and had been for quite some time.
As the sun began to set, a sense of unease settled in.
Searching the house one more time, Jessica's gaze shifted to the rooftop. Something told her to look there, and as she stepped out onto the balcony, she saw Y/N sitting on the edge, his shoulders slumped in sadness. Her heart sank at the sight, knowing all too well what this day meant for him.
"There you are," Jessica said cautiously, making her way up the steps towards the roof. "We missed you at dinner."
Y/N turned towards his mother, who wore a sad smile as she made her way up the steps.
"Sorry, Mom, I didn't mean to make you worry," Y/N replied.
"Are you thinking about your dad?" Jessica asked, placing her hands on his shoulders.
"I just miss him a lot," Y/N said. "I wish he could be here right now."
Tears welled up in his eyes. Y/N had been carrying a large burden, one that he hadn't been able to share with his mother. The guilt weighed heavily on his heart, knowing that it was his own actions that had inadvertently led to his father's death.
Tears grew in Jessica's eyes, but she stayed strong for her son. She pulled him into a comforting embrace, holding him tightly.
"Y/N," she whispered, her voice filled with love and understanding. "Your dad always believed in you. He always believed that you were meant to do good things, and he would be so proud of the person you are right now."
"Yeah, I guess," Y/N shrugged, still downtrodden.
"And remember what he always told you," Jessica smiled sadly.
"With great power comes great responsibility," Y/N replied. "Yeah, I know, Mom."
"Remember, Y/N, it's not just a saying. It's a reminder of the impact you can have on others, the difference you can make."
Y/N's body shook with silent sobs, his guilt pouring out in the presence of his mother's warmth and understanding. He clung to her, finding solace in her words and her unwavering support.
With a loving smile, Jessica rose from her spot, giving Y/N a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder before making her way back down to the house, leaving him to his thoughts.
Left alone on the rooftop, Y/N pulled out his P/C mask and held it in his hands, gazing out at the city skyline. The mask symbolized his dual identity, his duty as a hero intertwined with the burden he carried. He knew deep down that the only thing standing in the way of the city was him. In a way, his dad's words did speak volumes, especially to the immense responsibility of protecting and saving everyone.
However, he couldn't really comprehend why this was his fate. He sometimes thought that maybe he never deserved these powers, like they should have gone to someone else. It was a strange thought but something that crossed his mind from time to time.
Looking out toward the city, he wondered if there were others out there who felt the same way he did, burdened by the responsibility that came with their abilities.
Y/N longed for a sense of camaraderie, to know that he wasn't alone in the challenges he faced as a young hero. Sure, Peter was a good friend, but he didn't get what it was like to balance two different lives at once.
Y/N took a deep breath, donning the P/C mask before leaping off the roof, taking off into the night sky.
