Her wavy brown hair was blowing aimlessly around her face through the salty wind. Her green eyes — with a hint of blue — watched the waves against the shore. Her lips curled up at the corners.
She was home.
"An?" Annabeth Chase called. Annabeth was twelve — five years younger than the brunette. She had curly blonde hair tied up into a ponytail. Her grey eyes assessed the beach quickly. The brunette girl turned her head in acknowledgment.
"Chiron wanted me to get you," the blonde said softly.
"Mmm," Andromeda Dover cared carelessly. Annabeth sighed and sat cross-legged next to Andromeda.
"Okay, what's wrong?" Annabeth asked. Andromeda sighed softly. "I wish that Dad — whoever he is — would at least claim me."
Annabeth looked out at the ocean. "Maybe it's because he's scared of you. You hold almost as much power as an Olympian."
Andromeda sighed again before shrugging softly. "Maybe."
They sat in silence for a long while.
"Go tell Chiron I'll be there in a minute," Andromeda said.
Annabeth nodded and stood up. She walked for a few moments before Andromeda called, "Hey, Annie." Annabeth turned around.
"Would it bother you if I started dating Luke?" Andromeda asked.
"No," Annabeth's voice was small. She spun on her heel and ran off of the beach causing Andromeda to let out a deep sigh.
A few minutes later Andromeda stood, dusted off her white chiton, and walked toward the Big House.
When she arrived, Annabeth was standing on the porch, tapping on the rail excitedly. She stepped forward and met Andromeda.
"He's the one!" the blonde exclaimed excitedly.
Andromeda rolled her eyes. "I see we have a new camper."
"He's really the one!" Annabeth insisted.
"Mhm," Andromeda said disbelievingly. "Let me see him."
Annabeth lead the way into the Big House. On the couch was a boy with raven-black hair and tan skin. Chiron stood next to the couch with a solemn expression.
"Who is he?" Andromeda asked, crouching next to the boy.
"Perseus Jackson," Chiron replied. Andromeda nodded before checking his pulse.
"Okay," she sighed and let go of Percy's wrist. "His heart rate is steady." She sat down fully on the floor. "What happened?"
"He fought the Minotaur," Annabeth said, moving excitedly. "He has to be the one!"
"Annabeth, calm down," Chiron ordered gently.
"And while you're at it, go get me some nectar," Andromeda added.
"M'kay," Annabeth walked out of the room.
"Is he really going to be the one?" Andromeda asked Chiron who was looking at the boy passed out on the couch.
"I do believe so," Chiron said softly, his arms crossed against his chest.
"When does it have to be given back?" Andromeda's hands rested in her lap.
Chiron sighed softly "The summer solstice."
Annabeth walked into the room before she handed the cup of nectar to the brunette.
"Oh! Can you get a damp washrag for me? cold water," Andromeda asked Chiron, remembering she needed one. he nodded and walked off to get the rag, his hooves clopping on the hardwood floor.
"What's been stolen?" Annabeth asked earnestly. Andromeda shrugged while dribbling nectar into Percy's mouth.
"Please," Annabeth begged. Andromeda shook her head softly. "it's nothing."
Chiron walked back into the large living room and handed Andromeda the wet wash rag.
"Thanks," Andromeda said softly, putting the rag on Percy's forehead, before she continued to slowly give Percy the nectar.
"Chiron," Annabeth begged, breaking the peaceful silence, "what was stolen?"
"It's nothing you need to worry about, child," Chiron dismissed.

When she opened the painted white wooden door, Annabeth was feeding a sleeping Percy ambrosia.
"Did he wake up?" Andromeda asked, still holding the door handle.
"Not for long," Annabeth responded softly.
"Okay," Andromeda paused, "give me the ambrosia." Annabeth sighed, handed Andromeda the cup of ambrosia, and walked out of the room.
Andromeda sat down in the chair beside Percy's bed and started feeding him the ambrosia while humming 'YMCA' softly.

"What are you thinking about?" Annabeth asked cheerily.
"Thalia." Andromeda watched the waves crash against each other before turning into one.
"It's not your fault," Annabeth whispered.
"Yes, it is. I was so close to the border," Andromeda said softly, her eyes filling with tears.
"She wasn't your responsibility though."
"Still, I've been at camp for so long. And I'm over three-fourths Olympian. I could've —should've — saved her. I basically let her die."
"Stop blaming yourself," Annabeth said, leaning over and wrapping her arms around the brunette.
"I wonder if there's a way to get her back," Andromeda mused, leaning into the girl hugging her.
"Don't," Annabeth warned, "The last time you ended up almost selling your soul to Thanos."
"Yeah..."
"Let's go to the Hermes Cabin."
Andromeda nodded and the two girls stood up.

"I'm not playing," she sang.
"Okay," Chiron finally gave in. Andromeda smirked triumphantly and leaned back.
Percy and Grover walked around the corner of the wrap-around porch.
"Mr. Bruner!" Percy exclaimed.
Chiron turned around. "Yes. Good, Percy. Now we have four for pinochle." Chiron offered Percy a seat next to Mr. D's right. Mr. D sighed. "Oh, I suppose I must say it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. There. Don't expect me to be pleased to see you."
"Um, thanks?" Percy scooted away from Mr. D.
"Andromeda?" Chiron asked. Andromeda jumped down from the railing and walked up to the group. Chiron introduced the two.
"This young lady nursed you back to health, along with Annabeth, Percy." Chiron gestured to Annabeth. "Annabeth, my dear, why don't you go check on Percy's bunk?" — Annabeth nodded — "We'll be placing him in cabin eleven for now."
"Sure, Chiron." Annabeth looked at the Minotaur horn in Percy's hands, then back at him. She smirked. "You drool when you sleep." Annabeth sprinted off to cabin eleven.
"So," Percy started anxiously. "You, um, work here, Mr. Bruner?"
Andromeda rolled her eyes and muttered, "It's always Mr. Bruner."
"I'm not Mr. Bruner," Chiron corrected. "I'm afraid that was a pseudonym. You may call me Chiron."
"Okay." A puzzled expression was painted across Percy's face. He turned to Mr. D. "And Mr. D... does that stand for something?"
Mr. D stopped shuffling the cards in his hand and looked at Percy as if to decide what animal the boy would look best as.
"Boy, names are very powerful things. You don't go around using them for no apparent reason."
"Oh. Right. Sorry." Mr. D then continued shuffling his cards.
"I have to say, Percy," Andromeda spoke up. "I'm very happy to see you've made it. It's been a long time since Chiron's made a house call to a possible camper. I'd hate to think he's wasted his time," Andromeda said, sitting — once again — on the railing, her lips upturned into a smirk.
"House call?" Percy asked. Seeing Andromeda was not going to elaborate, Chiron answered, "My year at Yancy Academy to instruct you. We have satyrs at most schools, naturally, keeping a lookout, but Grover alerted me as soon as he met you. He said you were something special, so I decided to come upstate. I convinced the other Latin teacher to... ah, take a leave of absence." Percy paused. "You came to Yancy just to teach me?"
Chiron nodded. "Honestly, I wasn't sure About you at first. We contacted your mother, and let her know we were watching you in case you were prepared for Camp Half-Blood. But you still had so much to learn. Nevertheless, you made it here, and that is always the first test."
"Grover," Mr. D said, tapping his fingers on the table impatiently, "are you playing or not?"
"Yes, sir!" Grover shook vigorously as he sat in the one remaining seat.
"You do know how to play pinochle?" Mr. D glared at Percy.
"I'm afraid not," Percy said softly — nervously.
"I'm afraid not, sir," the god corrected.
"Sir," Percy repeated. Andromeda snorted, causing Percy to look at her, but turned his head when Mr. D spoke, "Well it is, along with gladiator fighting and PAC-Man, one of the greatest games ever vented by mortals. I would expect all civilized young men to know how to play."
Andromeda eyed the raven-haired boy suspiciously. "Yes, they should."
"I'm sure the boy can learn," Chiron defended.
"Please," Percy begged, "what is this place? What am I doing here? Mr.Brun-Chiron, why would you go to Yancy just to teach me?"
Mr.D and Andromeda snorted before the Legacy of Olympus continued, "I asked the same question."
Percy stared at Andromeda as if she had grown a second head. "Sassy much."
Andromeda smirked. "Oh, trust me. I know."
Mr. D dealt the cards and Grover flinched every time one landed in his pile. Chiron smiled at Percy sympathetically.
"Percy," Chiron asked softly, "did your mother tell you anything at all?"
Andromeda smirked. "Probably not. They never do. Or they leave you for dead."
"Hey—"
"The question," Andromeda sang, interrupting Percy.
"Right. She said..." Percy trailed off. "She said she was afraid to send me here, even though it's what my dad wants her to do. She said that once I was here, I probably wouldn't be able to leave. She wanted to keep me close to her."
Andromeda laughed. "Typical. That's how they all get killed."
"Young man, are you bidding or not?" Mr. D asked irritably.
"What?"
Mr. D impatiently explained to Percy how to bid in pinochle and he did as instructed.
Andromeda walked over to Chiron.
"There's too much to tell," she murmured.
"Yes," Chiron agreed, "I'm afraid our usual orientation on film won't be sufficient."
"Orientation film?" Percy asked.
"No," Andromeda agreed. She spoke up, "Well, Percy. You know that Grover's a satyr. You know," she pointed at the Minotaur horn in Percy's lap, "that you've killed the Minotaur. No small job either, kid. What you probably don't know is that strong powers are at work in your life. Gods — the beings you call the Greek gods — are alive."
Percy stared at everyone around the table.
"Oh, a royal marriage! Trick! Trick!" Mr. D cackled as he tallied up his points.
"Mr. D, if you're not going to eat it," Grover pointed at Mr. D's Coke can timidly, "could I have your Diet Coke can?"
"Eh? Oh, whatever. Sure."
Grover quickly grabbed the can, took a bite, and chewed it sadly — almost mournfully.
"Wait," Percy said. "You're telling me," he looked between Chiron and Andromeda quickly, "there's such a thing as God."
"Well, now," Chiron said, " God — capital G, God. That's a different matter altogether. We shan't deal with the metaphysical."
"Metaphysical? But you were just talking about—"
"Gods, plural, like the great beings that control nature and human endeavors: — big word there — the never-dying gods of Olympus. That's a smaller matter," Andromeda said.
"Smaller?"
"Yes, quite," Chiron agreed. "The gods we discussed in Latin class."
"Zeus," Percy said, "Hera, Apollo. You mean them." Thunder rumbled its wrath again.
Andromeda scrunched her nose. "Bye." She quickly walked to the Hermes cabin.
"Hey," Annabeth said when Andromeda got close. The blonde sat in a chair outside of the cabin. The wind blew Andromeda's chiton wherever it pleased.
"Hey, Anna," Andromeda said cheerfully.
Annabeth narrowed her eyes. "Don't call me that."
"Fine, Anna Elizabeth," Andromeda smirked and sat on the grass next to the Daughter of Athena.
"You're lucky my dagger is in my cabin," Annabeth mumbled.
"Andromeda smiled,
Do you want me to go get it, Your Highness?"
Annabeth rolled her eyes and opened her book on architecture.
"No, I don't."

i started writing this story years ago, so i was going off of the books descriptions. then the cast for the tv show came out and i haven't gone back and changed it yet. so, for 'the lightning thief' section, (for now) everyone will be described as the books portray them, and when i go back and rewrite it, everyone will be described as the cast for the tv show.
