HEART OF STARS, SOUL OF SHADOWS

SCHOOLS FOR MAGIC were nothing special in Ashana. In fact, they existed all across the continent of Nakari, but few were as revered as Laeliths, University of the Arcane. It was known as the best school for spellcasters on the west coast of Nakari, and many hoped to be in attendance. Often, alum even return to teach as professors, hoping to inspire others the way they were as young adults.

BUT GREAT EVIL lurks around the corner, striking fear as students begin to go missing. Whispers and rumors fly, and Laeliths is no longer the haven it once was. Distrust and paranoia fills the cobblestone halls, and many students consider dropping out entirely.

UNWILLING TO SEND students-mere children, in the grand scheme of things-on a quest that could very well lead to their deaths, the headmaster collects volunteers among the professors. They're sent to find the missing students and put an end to the increasing whispers of a great evil returning, but the quest could prove more than they bargained for.

Warning.

This story will contain elements of graphic violence and coarse language. Though I will try and put TW at the beginnings of chapters that warrant it, please be mindful of your limits!

Rules.

1- Be Nice
If I catch you being rude to anyone here, your character will be dropped! No if's, and's, or but's!

2- Be original
Please try not to make your character someone that already exists! It's okay to base your character off of someone, but please, please try to shake it up a bit. The password is your favorite fantasy series. As long as the character is yours, then they're fine!

3- Be original pt. two
If you can, please try to avoid stereotypes!! Subvert them where you can, and have fun with it. Additionally, I'll be more likely to pick diverse characters. You can make them a nonhuman character if you'd like, also! Any D&D/Pathfinder race is on the table.

4- Age
I would prefer that your OC (and faceclaim if you use one) be at least 30 (though this will vary by race)!! They're university professors, for god's sake! I'll allow a little more leniency regarding age if you apply with a student side character; just bear in mind that they're university students.

5- Be detailed
I'll be more likely to pick your character if they're extremely detailed. So flesh out your character as much as you can! The more diverse, the better :)

6- Tags
I'm not a very well-known author, so please tag people so that there are more applications. Tags aren't required, but it would be awesome if you did.

7- Check
To make sure you've read the rules, the password is hidden somewhere in the rules.

Classes.

Bard.

Whether scholar, skald, or scoundrel, a bard weaves magic through words and music to inspire allies, demoralize foes, manipulate minds, create illusions, and even heal wounds.

Cleric.

Clerics are intermediaries between the mortal world and the distant planes of the gods. As varied as the gods they serve, clerics strive to embody the handiwork of their deities. No ordinary priest, a cleric is imbued with divine magic.

Druid.

Whether calling on the elemental forces of nature or emulating the creatures of the animal world, druids are an embodiment of nature's resilience, cunning, and fury. They claim no mastery over nature. Instead, they see themselves as extensions of nature's indomitable will.

Sorcerer.
Sorcerers carry a magical birthright conferred upon them by an exotic bloodline, some otherworldly influence, or exposure to unknown cosmic forces. One can't study sorcery as one learns a language, any more than one can learn to live a legendary life. No one chooses sorcery; the power chooses the sorcerer.
Bloodline Examples: Draconic Bloodline, Wild Magic. There are several more!

Warlock
Warlocks are seekers of the knowledge that lies hidden in the fabric of the multiverse. Through pacts made with mysterious beings of supernatural power, warlocks unlock magical effects both subtle and spectacular. Drawing on the ancient knowledge of beings such as fey nobles, demons, devils, hags, and alien entities of the Far Realm, warlocks piece together arcane secrets to bolster their own power.

Wizard
Wizards are taught magic-users, defined and united as a class by the spells they cast. Drawing on the subtle weave of magic that permeates the cosmos, wizards cast spells of explosive fire, arcing lightning, subtle deception, and brute-force mind control. Their magic conjures monsters from other planes of existence, glimpses the future, or turns slain foes into zombies. Their mightiest spells change one substance into another, call meteors down from the sky, or open portals to other worlds.

Notes:

+ You can apply more than once!

+ You can apply with side characters (either other professors or students!)

+For side professors, you don't need to go super in depth to things like personality, appearance or backstory. The same applies for students, and you would leave off class, classroom description, and reasoning for volunteering.

+ I'm aware that the schools of magic are primarily for wizard characters, but remember that this is only based off DND.

+ If your character is multiclassing, please go into more detail in either their background or the extra section.
