They sat on the sofa, emerged in darkness. A movie played softly in the background, but neither payed attention to it.

Interrupting their tranquility, Ashton's phone rang loudly. He slowly picked it up, brought it to his ear, and tiredly responded, "Hello?"

Calum could hear the faint buzzing of a voice on the other line, but simply continued running his fingers through Ashton's hair. His mind didn't urge him to pay attention to the conversation.

A smile still etched onto his face, Ashton pulled Calum's hand from his hair. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy Calum touching him, it was just distracting, and this was an important call.

He laced their fingers together, only half heartedly listening to the conversation going on.

Calum's free hand traced random patterns on Ashton's thigh. He didn't understand it, but he needed constant physical contact between them or he felt as though the world might end. He felt stupid, but at peace. Clingy, but loved.

Ashton shifted his leg awkwardly away from Calum's hand. Now he was beginning to feel annoyed, and he didn't know why.

Calum frowned. "Ashy..."

Ashton tried to ignore him. Despite every instinct he had, he was angry beyond words and he had no idea why.

Calum's presence suddenly seemed to buzz around Ashton like a fly you could never swat. Every movement, breath and word seemed to infuriate Ashton to no end.

Ashton detangled their fingers. Calum couldn't even put into words how hurt and confused he was. It was a simple action that shouldn't have bothered him, but it broke his heart anyway.

"Stop, Cal."

Calum furrowed his brows in confusion, staring at his love with a most pained expression.

"I didn't do anything..." Calum mumbled, confused.

"Calum!" Ashton snapped. "I'm on the phone!"

Calum's mouth fell open slightly, unsure why Ashton was so angry at him.

"Just stop!" Ashton continued yelling. He refused to even look at Calum.

Calum clenched his jaw, stood up, and walked into his bedroom. Ashton had no logical reason to be angry, and Calum was hurt.

He sat sadly on the edge of the bed, still unsure why Ashton was so angry with him.

A simple touch had made Ashton furious, and Calum didn't understand it at all.

He clutched his head in his hands, resting his elbows on his knees as tears slipped from his eyes. He was in pain, confused and angry, and crying seemed to make that go away.

Truthfully, it wasn't just that small outburst that had caused this pain. He'd been taking care of Ashton, making sure the older lad was okay for a while, and it had taken a toll on him. He was emotionally exhausted, but knew that it wouldn't end anytime soon.

He loved to take care of Ashton—and he loved seeing the vulnerable side of him, the delicate side of him—but he simply couldn't handle his own emotions and Ashton's. He had to make sure that Ashton wasn't hurting, but that meant forgetting about his own pain for a while.

Once Ashton had finished on the phone, he immediately went into the bedroom to speak with Calum. Nothing was more important than his love, and he didn't understand why he had snapped anymore than Calum did.

And Ashton swore his heart broke when he saw Calum sitting there. His head in his hands, soft sniffles escaping his lips.

Ashton stood in front of his boyfriend, placing his hands on the boy's own.

"Angel?" Ashton cooed, "Please look at me."

Calum shook his head, mumbling something inaudible.

"Baby, please. I'm so sorry for snapping at you."

Calum still refused to respond and kept his eyes downcast.

"Calum-" Ashton whispered. "Beautiful, I didn't mean to get angry at you."

"You scared me." Calum finally murmured. "I didn't do anything wrong."

"I know." Ashton closed his eyes. "I know, and I'm so fucking stupid for it. Please just look at me, angel. I didn't mean to scare you."

Calum slowly lifted his gaze to meet Ashton's.

Ashton smiled softly. "There's that beautiful face of yours."

Calum nearly smiled at those words. Instead, he tried to lower his vision again. Ashton gently grabbed his chin to stop him. "I'm so sorry, baby. How can I fix this?"

"You don't need to fix anything." Calum grumbled. "I'm fine. I just wanna know why you got angry at me."

Ashton sighed. "I-I don't know why. I guess you were just distracting me.."

"By touching you?"

"Yeah." The moment he heard himself say it, Ashton knew it was a bad idea.

Calum pried Ashton's fingers from his chin. "I don't understand."

Ashton laced their fingers together, desperately trying to find a way to make Calum understand that he didn't mean to yell. Calum didn't stop him. He still loved Ashton, and he always would, he just didn't know why Ashton snapped.

"I don't either." Ashton's other hand went to cup Calum's cheek. "I just keep fucking up, and I don't know why."

"Hey-" Calum placed his free hand overtop of Ashton's. "You haven't fucked anything up, Ash. I'm still here, aren't I?"

"Y-yes." Ashton stuttered. "But only because you have to be. This is your apartment."

"No." Calum whispered. "Ashton, I'm here because I love you."

Ashton weakly smiled, remaining silent.

"As confusing and exhausting you can be, I know I'm just the same." Calum looked up at Ashton hopefully. "There's not a single thing in this world that could make me stop loving you."

Ashton grinned lovingly down at Calum, then pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. "I love you too."

"Good." Calum sighed. "Now, what was the phone call about?"

"It was Harry." Ashton reluctantly admitted.

"Great." Calum groaned. He took Ashton's hand from his face, then crawled backwards onto the bed. "What did he want?"

Ashton joined him, intertwining their legs as he wrapped a muscular arm around Calum's torso. "Um..."

Calum leaned his head against Ashton's chest, grabbing his tattooed hand and holding them together as he waited for Ashton to speak.

"He wants me back." Ashton spoke, his words nearly a sigh. "I-I have to leave."

"When?"

"Tomorrow night." The older lad explained. "That's when the flight is."

Calum immediately frowned. "Oh."

"I don't wanna leave you, but he said something that caught my interest."

"Which is what?"

"It's the last job." Ashton smiled at the thought. "After this, I'm done."

"Really?" Calum smiled as well. "That's wonderful, my love."

"It is." Ashton planted his chin atop Calum's head. "Some part of me never thought it would end."

"I'm glad it finally will." Calum sighed. "But I really don't want you to leave."

"I know. I don't wanna go either, angel."

Calum closed his eyes, shifting comfortably and leaning further into Ashton's side. He had nothing more to say. He just wanted to enjoy this moment.

Calum couldn't handle Ashton leaving. Throughout this trip, he'd seen Ashton cry and break down more times than the entire time he'd known him. The mere idea of Ashton being along like that was enough to make Calum's heart clench.

Ashton was the strong one in Calum's eyes, but lately, he'd been the insecure, emotional wreck that broke Calum's heart to witness.

"Cally?" Ashton's voice broke through Calum's chaotic thoughts.

"Yeah?"

"What would happen if I got caught?" Ashton pondered aloud.

"You'd go to jail." Calum truthfully told him. "As long as they have evidence, and you don't have an alibi. And they need a weapon, a dead body..."

"I know." Ashton giggled quietly despite the serious topic. "But what would happen to you?"

"I'd wait for you."

Ashton shook his head. "Calum, I'd be in there forever." He paused, suddenly frowning. "All the shit I've done, who I did it for.."

"I know." Calum insisted. "And I don't care."

"And after all that time?" Ashton asked. "Where would you go? What would you do?"

"I'd still be right here, waiting." Calum whispered. "I promise."

Ashton placed a gentle kiss to the top of Calum's head. "You're too good to me."

The tanned lad shook his head. "No."

"Yes, you are." Ashton angled his head downwards, and Calum's tilted upwards. Calum's dark brown eyes met Ashton's piercing hazel ones.

His eyes were the softest brown infused with green, as if they held the new spring growth inside. They were the forest floor and the gentle flowers, somewhere to rest and breathe.

Calum often found himself getting lost in them. The tranquility, calmness and happiness he could find within those colourful orbs had saved his life on more than one occasion.

Calum quickly locked their lips together. Ashton moved his hand to Calum's jaw, keeping the boy close to him. After a few moments of their lips passionately sliding together, Ashton bit down gently on Calum's bottom lip, then pulled away.

Calum couldn't help the whine that slipped past his lips at Ashton's actions. And knowing that he had that effect on Calum made Ashton grin.

"Angel-" Ashton cooed. "Can I show you how important you are to me?"

Calum looked at him, wearing an adorable, confused smile.

"I wanna go slow this time. I want you to know how much you mean to me."

Calum blushed furiously at Ashton's suggestion. He was never so straightforward. "Really?"

Ashton brushed a delicate thumb over Calum's cheek, still smiling. "Really."

Calum smiled wider, leaning into Ashton's touch.

"I need you to know how much I love you."

Attraction is like a magnet. No matter how far Ashton went, Calum's attraction, Calum's constant pull towards him would remain. There was something about the two of them that just seemed to match perfectly; each half loving the other so intensely that life alone would be meaningless.

Slowly, as Ashton had promised, he reconnected their lips smoothly, running a large hand down Calum's side to his waist. When Calum immediately kissed back, Ashton felt himself smile.

It was like Calum had been made for him.

The power of love brings hope, yet at times, the steps towards love cause pain and those destined to a lifetime of loneliness grow comfortable with that familiarity. We are born to love, and with all necessary courage to walk that path. No matter the hardships, no matter the toughness, love will find a way.

Ashton grabbed the hem of Calum's cozy t-shirt, tugging on it gently, asking for permission.

A string of saliva connected the pair as Calum pulled away. Suddenly, he was nervous and self-conscious. Even with Ashton's constant reassurance and compliments, he didn't like the way he looked.

"You don't need to worry, angel." Ashton whispered to him. "I'm going to take care of you."

Calum nodded in understanding. "I-I know. I just..."

"What is it, beautiful?" Ashton quietly asked, protectively holding onto Calum's waist.

"I don't like how I look." Calum shyly admitted. Embarrassment was not an emotion that he handled well. He'd turn pink and stutter, usually hiding his face with a shaky hand. In this case, he couldn't hide, which made him feel exposed.

Ashton smiled sadly and bumped their noses together. "You're art, Calum. Absolute fucking perfection. I will never understand how you can't see it."

"Show me." Calum eventually whispered. "Make me see."

Upon hearing Calum's words and receiving a nod of consent from the boy, Ashton teasingly pulled the shirt over his head and tossed it aside. Neither payed attention to where it landed.

Ashton reattached their lips, detangling their legs so he could gently push Calum against the bed. Calum tangled his fingers in Ashton's curls. The boy beneath Ashton was perfect in every way imaginable. He couldn't even begin to understand how someone could be crafted so intricately; how every part of Calum seemed to fit with every part of Ashton.

Ashton teased Calum's lips open with his own, then took advantage of this opportunity and slipped his tongue inside.

As their tongues tangoed together, Ashton spent each second trying to memorize the placement of each muscle on Calum's chest; trying to permanently etch every detail into his mind.

Calum couldn't believe how lucky he'd been to find someone as amazing as Ashton was. As the older lad made himself comfortable in between Calum's legs, Calum continued using every bit of force in his body to kiss him. In that moment, it was the only way he knew how to express his love for Ashton.

When Ashton pulled away, Calum pouted. The red-haired male raked his eyes down Calum's torso, noticing how his fingertips had brought goosebumps to the smooth, tanned surface.

Calum removed his hands from Ashton's hair, albeit reluctantly, and grabbed the bottom of his shirt. "Take this off..."

Ashton smiled, taking Calum's hands from the shirt. He didn't waste a second pulling it over his head and throwing it randomly onto the floor.

He then buried his face in Calum's neck, kissing tenderly until he reached the boy's collarbones, where he made sure to leave many marks.

Continuing to teasingly suck and bite at Calum's skin, Ashton was encouraged by the boy's moans to move further up, now leaving his mark just beneath Calum's jawline and ear.

"Give me the green light-" Ashton whispered against Calum's skin. "We could have all night, if you just say the word."

Calum let out a shaky breath at Ashton's words. His mind was too much of a mess to respond in that moment.

"Tell me it's alright, angel."

Calum whined softly, feeling his stomach begin to churn. Somehow, Ashton asking for permission both made him feel safe as well as excited him.

"I want this." Calum breathlessly replied. "I-I want you, Ashton. Please."

Ashton smirked into Calum's neck, lips brushing slowly over the marks he'd just created. When Calum's fingers made their way back up to Ashton's hair, the older lad began to leave hickies down Calum's chest.

He eventually stopped leaving marks when he got to Calum's stomach, pressing delicate kisses down the boy's abdomen until his lips were against the waistband of Calum's pants.

Every single thing Ashton was doing made Calum shudder. And Ashton suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to tell Calum exactly how beautiful he was.

"You're perfect, Calum-" Ashton breathed out. He left a mark on each of the tanned lads prominent hip bones. "And I can't believe you're mine."

Calum blushed profusely. "Ash..."

Ashton's fingers once again danced across Calum's chest, now only taunting the boy. He moved back up to Calum's lips, crashing them swiftly together again.

Both were hardening in their pants, and Calum didn't know how much more teasing he could handle.

The younger lad whimpered into their kiss, sucking gently on Ashton's bottom lip. He knew that simple action drove Ashton mad, and he also knew that Ashton was the one who decided they would go slow, meaning he couldn't do anything about it.

Ashton began to grind their lower halves together at a teasingly slow pace, loving the whimpers falling from his angel's lips. He could imagine how Calum's lips were red and swollen, how his chest was tinted the same pretty pink as his face. He was always gorgeous, but like this, he was fucking angelic.

Ashton knew the effect he was having on Calum, he could feel it through the thin sweatpants the boy wore, and it made him smirk.

When Calum bucked his hips up into Ashton's, the older man let out a low moan. He knew that Calum liked it when he was rough, probably liked it a little too much. Ashton wanted this time to be slow, true love-making, because holy shit, he loved Calum so damn much.

It was still simply in his nature to tease, so he pressed his hips down harder and dug his fingertips into his angel's sides. That caused Calum to let out a choked moan, involuntarily bucking his hips up again. Ashton saw this as a chance to deepen their kiss.

Calum hated how worked up Ashton could get him just by kissing him and touching him. All Ashton had to do was kiss his neck or grab his waist and he'd be putty in the older mans hands.

Ashton pulled away from the kiss and buried his face in Calum's neck, murmuring a soft "I love you."

Calum whined and pulled at Ashton's fiery red hair. "Say it again."

"I love you." Ashton began sucking his mark into his angel's neck. "I love you, I love you, I love you so fucking much."

"I love you too." Calum mumbled back, and he truly meant it.

Calum didn't think that a simple text he had received long ago would turn into something as amazing as this, but it had. And Ashton didn't know that he'd fall in love with the boy that he sent the text to, but he did.

Calum bit down on Ashton's lower lip, and the older lad pulled away, feeling his jeans tighten more.

Calum pouted again, and Ashton grabbed one of Calum's hands from his hair. He guided the boy's hand to the bulge in his pants, locking their eyes together. Calum could see the chaotic swirl of emotions within them.

"Feel that, baby?" Ashton tauntingly whispered. "That's what you do to me."

Calum slowly rubbed his palm over where Ashton had directed him to, looking up at him with his most innocent eyes. "I did that?"

Ashton failed to hold back a moan as Calum continued to glide his hand effortlessly along his crotch. "Yeah, Callie. That's all you."

Calum smiled triumphantly.

Ashton moved his hands to the waistband of Calum's sweatpants. "Angel, are you ready for me to get rid of these?"

Calum nodded quickly.

"Use your words, beautiful. Tell me what you want."

"I want you to take 'em off." Calum shyly whispered. "Please, Ashy."

Ashton's fingers dipped inside Calum's sweatpants, tugging them down gently. Calum lifted his hips to assist Ashton in taking them off.

Once his pants had been discarded, Calum was left only in his briefs. He bit his lip, feeling uncomfortable and self-conscious once again.

"Hey-" Ashton noticed this shyness and gently grabbed the boy's chin, making sure that they made eye contact. "You're beautiful, Calum. Every little bit of you is flawless, okay? I promise."

Calum didn't respond.

"Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, baby boy. You're gorgeous." He gave Calum a gentle peck on the lips, bringing a soft smile to the boy's face.

"No." Calum's word was barely audible, his eyes sad.

"Perfection." Ashton whispered, giving Calum a kiss in between each syllable.

Calum's smile widened when Ashton kissed him, but still shook his head.

"Yes." Ashton continued softly. "And I'm gonna tell you everyday until you die. Until you see what I see."

The younger lad nodded. "O-okay Ashy."

Ashton smiled down at his love. This boy meant the world to him.

Calum pulled gently on the waistband of Ashton's jeans. "Can we take these off now?"

Ashton nodded. "Yeah."

Quickly, Ashton's jeans were thrown away, somewhere in the room to be found later.

Now, the only material separating them was their thin undergarments.

Ashton didn't find it hard to remember that this was supposed to be gentle, caring and slow. But Calum's fingers slipping beneath the elastic of his underwear made him wonder how long it would be before those things didn't matter anymore.

They shared one desperate, lustful look, and were suddenly tearing each other's underwear off.

On a sudden impulse, Ashton scooped Calum up by his bum and rubbed their hips together, both moaning at the contact of skin.

He then set the boy back down, letting his lips find Calum's body once again. He left marks on his inner thighs, feeling the boy shudder with each touch.

"Ashton, please." Calum whined. "I can't wait anymore, please do something."

Ashton faintly rested his lips against Calum's. "Patience, angel."

One hand traced patterns on the boy's hip while the other moved to his mouth, gently running along his lips. Ashton used one hand to spread Calum's legs, hardly being able to contain himself at seeing him bare and raw.

Ashton wasn't extremely dominant in this situation; he needed Calum to feel loved, not controlled—so instead of having Calum wet his fingers, he grabbed a nearby bottle of lube.

After slicking up his fingers, he then moved in between Calum's thighs. "I'm gonna stretch you, love. Tell me if you want me to stop, okay?"

Calum nodded. "O-okay."

Ashton gently ran his fingers around the sensitive ring of muscles, working his way to the entrance in slow circles. Calum let out a small squeak, hips shaking at the feeling.

Finally, Ashton slipped a finger inside. After a second of letting Calum get used to the feeling, he began to work it in and out, causing Calum to grip at Ashton's hair harshly.

"Another." Calum demanded.

Ashton obliged, adding a second finger to the boy. The noises leaving Calum's lips were almost animalistic, and Ashton let out his own chorus of moans at the sight of his lover.

Calum's lips parted in bliss, his head fell back against the bed and his body responded to every touch.

Ashton went to add a third finger, but Calum's face scrunched up, and Ashton couldn't tell if it was pleasure or pain.

"Baby, are you—"

"God." Calum whined, and Ashton smirked. "Please, I'm ready."

Ashton pulled his fingers out, and Calum winced at the sudden feeling of emptiness.

Ashton grabbed the bottle of lube again, slicking up his member before aligning himself with Calum's hole.

"No condom?" Calum shakily whispered.

"I don't plan on being with anyone else." Ashton quietly replied.

"O-okay." The younger lad blushed at the idea of Ashton being his forever.

"Ready, my love?"

Calum sat up, buried his face in Ashton's neck and left gentle kisses everywhere he could reach. "Yes, Ashton. I-I'm ready."

Ashton nodded, pushed Calum back down against the bed and intertwined their fingers, pinning them on either side of Calum's head.

Calum threw his legs around Ashton's waist, and the older lad slowly pushed in. Calum let out a low moan at the feeling.

Calum took a second getting used to the stretch, then let out a shaky breath and whispered, "Move."

Ashton locked their eyes together, and upon receiving a nod of approval from Calum, slowly began to move his hips forward.

As Ashton built up a steady tempo, Calum's mind grew hazy.

With true love, you feel like the other person is the reason your life is beautiful. It is when you're lost in those eyes, those thoughts, and you think of them every moment. Loving someone is the best feeling, because when you feel low and you talk to them, all they say is, "It will be alright; I'm right beside you."

That night, Ashton made Calum feel beautiful. Ashton made Calum feel loved, taken care of and important. He felt safe, protected and above all, happy.

There is a specific love for the one close to your pumping heart. There is a word for your special person lingering in the back of your mind. This abundance of love is shared for all who know the loved one.

The night seemed to last forever. Maybe because they wanted it to. That night, something permanent was created, something that could never go away. They bonded that night, more than they ever had before.

And that night, just as he was ready to fall asleep in the older lads arms, Calum felt Ashton's voice gently caressing him as he whispered, "Sleep well, my beautiful angel. I love you."

Calum knew Ashton meant it. And both of them fell asleep with smiles painted on their faces.
