THE AUTHORITIES WERE walking around the venue and had declared it a crime scene. They apprehended the defeated Tracksuit Draculas as well as Rhino...which they needed a forklift and a lot of man power to move him.

The LARPers spoke to their fellow first responders and detailed what they did. Jack Duquesne sat with Wendy, who offered him a place in their group. Jack thought about it...being a swordsman in that guild could be a good form of leisure.

Aaron Davis, Yelena Belova, and Maya Lopez fled the scene before they can be arrested. Unfortunately, Wilson Fisk could not be located either.

Clint and Kate sat on the back of an ambulance while Y/N stood by the door beside them. They had been treated by an EMT earlier and the web-slinger already felt much better than he did thirty minutes ago.

"You know, I gotta be really honest with you, Kate." Clint began. "It's doesn't happen too often, but...every once in a while you come across somebody...that just makes you better in every way."

Kate looked at the older man, taking in his words. She assumed he was reflecting on their current partnership. Y/N also thought about his statement...and remembered how he used to feel like he had nothing, but that's changed.

Clint continued and looked at his clothes. "And that Missy, boy, she just...outdid herself with this suit. And the elasticity of this fabric..."

Kate chuckled. "Okay, you can stop."

"Yeah, I still gotta thank them for this. And ask where the heck they got the materials." Y/N remarked.

Clint examined his battle-damaged suit. "And they might have to make you a new one, anyways. How that'd get so bad?"

He scoffed. "Well, old man, while you used idiots wearing adidas as target practice, I had to deal with an eight-foot Russian and cyborg with claws."

Clint shrugged. "But you're alive."

Y/N softly chuckled and nodded, then looked at Kate. "I probably wouldn't be if it wasn't for her."

Clint understood his remark, knowing what happened earlier. He looked at his mentee and softened his gaze.

"I know tonight was a lot. You took on Kingpin all by yourself. Not many people walk away from something like that. At least not in one piece. And I'm so proud of you."

Kate reached over and held his hand. "Thank you."

Y/N smiled beneath his scuffed mask, witnessing the moment between the two archers. Earlier that week, Barton wanted nothing more but to keep her away. Now, he accepted her as who she was...his partner and a fellow hero.

Amidst the teenager's silent gaze, Clint glanced at him. He broke Y/N out of his thoughts once he started to speak.

"Kid...Y/N..." He began. "Uh, Kate explained to me earlier today...about what you went through a month ago."

Y/N arched a brow before glancing at Kate, who looked back at him and nodded. The older man continued.

"I've felt heartbreak before...but I can't imagine what it felt like for you. Deciding to help her...help me...when you could've stayed back...that means a lot to me. In a post-blip world without Tony...without Steve...Natasha...you are the kind of hero it needs."

Y/N grinned under his mask and crossed his arms. He appreciated the words of the former Avenger and now friend.

"Not just me, Clint." He glanced at the two of them. "Its going to need all of us. People with the heart and soul to protect it."

Kate nodded and looked at Clint. The man chuckled and smirked.

"Relax before you break out into a speech. I've heard enough hanging around with Rogers."

The three laughed. After a brief pause, Clint spoke again.

"You know what? We gotta walk that dog." He said.

Kate agreed. "Yeah. We do."

Meanwhile, an injured Wilson Fisk limped down an alleyway. He was joined by a couple of policemen, who in reality were corrupt and under his payroll. They snuck away from the scene and were going to escape via an unmarked van.

"This way, Mr. Fisk." One of the officers said as he walked in front.

He went toward the vehicle, but was suddenly hit in the neck by a small knife. The man held his throat and fell to the floor, where he began to bleed out.

The officer beside Fisk unholstered his gun and looked around the dark area. Only the headlights of the van lit their surroundings. He walked forward a few steps before someone dropped onto him from fire escape above. The assailant stabbed him twice in the chest before getting back to their feet.

Fisk looked ahead, finally seeing the face of the attacker. It was Maya Lopez, who now had her hair out of her bun and sported an all-black getup.

"Maya..." Fisk breathed out. "What a surprise. These officers...they were going to take me in."

She took out her handgun and held it. Fisk looked down at it, knowing what her intention was.

"Maya, you and I..." He began to sign as he spoke. "We're family."

The woman ignored his pleas and aimed the pistol at his face, her finger on the trigger. Kingpin still kept speaking and reaching out to his niece.

"Sometimes family doesn't see eye to eyeโ€”"

BANG!

BANG!

THE CAR DROVE down the empty road. The Iowa plains could be seen out the window which were painted white with snow.

Clint manned the vehicle while Kate, Y/N, and Lucky the Pizza Dog were in the backseat. They were currently playing a round of Heads Up! and Kate was trying to guess who or what she was.

Her word was Pierce Brosnan.

"He played 007." Y/N said.

"There's like a hundred guys that played him." Kate said with a scoff. "Daniel Craig?"

"No, he was one of the ones before him. Goldeneye."

She shrugged. "I've never seen it."

"What?" Y/N exclaimed.

"Die Another Day? The World is Not Enough?"

"Nope."

"Wow."

Clint looked at them through the rear view mirror. "He was in Mamma Mia! He sang and played Sophie's possible father."

"Oh...oh! Pierce Brosnan?" Kate asked.

"Bingo."

Kate cheered while Y/N was flabbergasted.

"That was the hint that helped you?" He asked.

"I loved Mamma Mia! That guy never seems to age. And he's got that hot dad look."

"Didn't need to hear or imagine that." Y/N said as he took his phone back.

"Jealous that I think a former James Bond is hot?" She asked.

He chuckled. "Please. And besides, he's no Dwayne Johnson."

They made it to the Barton's homestead. Clint exited the vehicle and started to unload gifts from the trunk. Y/N came out and assisted the older man.

"Are you sure this is okay?" Kate asked as she got out with Lucky. The girl was pretty nervous about finally meeting his family.

"Don't worry. They're gonna love you guys." Clint replied.

He closed the trunk and they made their way to the house. Immediately, Clint's children opened the door and beamed at the sight of their father.

"Dad!" Nathaniel exclaimed and ran to him.

"There he is!" He hugged his son. "I'm so happy to see you."

"You made it! You kept your promise." Lila said.

He smiled and handed a couple of gifts to her and his son, Cooper.

"Here, here. Take something. Merry Christmas." Clint said then gestured toward the other two. "This is Kate and Y/N."

"Hi! Merry Christmas." The girl greeted to which Y/N waved, still holding a couple of the boxes.

"Come on in. It's so cold!" Clint told them.

They entered the house. Laura Barton greeted her husband and embraced him. Y/N followed Cooper to the tree where he put the rest of the presents down. Kate was close behind with Lucky.

"Oh, my gosh! That dog's so cute!" Nathaniel exclaimed as he knelt down to pet him. "What's his name?"

"His name is Lucky." Kate replied.

"Like the name?" Y/N asked as he pointed at himself. "I thought it suited him."

"Why?" The boy asked.

"It's a long story. But after everything he's been through...he is one lucky dog."

Clint looked back after hugging his wife. "Oh, right, yeah. I brought home a couple of strays." The man pointed at them. "Laura, this is Kate."

"Kate." Laura greeted and went over to hug her. "So good to have you."

The raven-haired girl embraced her mentor's spouse and smiled. Clint chose to introduce the boy next.

"This is Y/N. Kate's friend...partner...boyfriend?"

There a little reddening of her cheeks as Kate rolled her eyes at Barton. "Clint."

"Or whatever they are. You know teenagers." Clint told Laura.

Y/N chuckled and faced the woman. She opened her arms and the two embraced.

"Y/N, It's nice meeting you." She said.

He parted and smiled. "Thank you for having me, Mrs. Barton. And welcoming me into your household for the holidays."

They family and their guests spent time together in the living room. The kids opened some of the gifts while Clint and Laura sat at the table nearby.

"Guess what I found in an illegal black market auction in the city?" He asked her before taking out a watch.

Laura raised a brow and took it. "Thank you."

The woman flipped it over and stared at the S.H.I.E.L.D insignia engraved behind it. It had the number 19, the callsign for Mockingbird.

"You should start taking care of your belongings." He remarked.

"You're one to talk." Laura replied with a chuckle.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel opened one of his presents. It was a NERF gun.

"I've always wanted one of these!" He exclaimed.

Y/N took out an envelope from his coat. He handed it to Kate who was sitting right next to him on the sofa.

"What's this?" She asked as she took it.

"Merry Christmas." He replied as he fiddled with the ring on his finger. "Couldn't let you be the only one without anything."

Kate opened the envelope and took out another paper sleeve. Within it was two ticket stubs and it took her a moment to read them, realizing what they were.

"Is this whatโ€”"

"Las Vegas Aces versus New York Liberty next month. For those winter scrimmages they started doing." Y/N confirmed and scratched the back of his neck. "Before I blipped they didn't even play during the winter but guess nowโ€”"

Kate interrupted him and gave him a hug, planting a kiss on his cheek. Y/N chuckled and embraced the girl.

"Thank you." She said.

Y/N rubbed her back. "Of course. And this would be my first WNBA match. It should be fun."

Clint let them have their moment before getting up from his seat and calling out to Kate.

"Kate, will you help me with something real quick?"

She turned to him and nodded. "Sure."

Kate placed the envelope down and followed Clint out of the house. Y/N smiled and looked down at his hands. Lila glanced at him for a moment.

"I have to ask..." The teenaged girl began. "Are you two dating?"

The question took him by surprise. "Heh, I'm not really sure."

"So just...really good friends?"

"...I don't really know."

"Friends with benefits sort of thing?" She asked with a tilt of her head.

"How do you you know what that is?" He replied.

"I've seen that Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis movie." She answered before glancing at her mom across the room. "Don't tell my parents."

Y/N let out a laugh and decided to answer his question. "Not that either, though. I actually...like her."

"She obviously likes you too. Go for it."

"How can a regular guy like me be with a superhero like her?" He emphasized the word regular.

"So what if you're not a superhero too? That shouldn't matter." Lila replied, convinced that the boy was just a normal dude.

Y/N looked out the window behind him and saw Kate and Clint by the barn burning the Ronin suit. They started making their way back to the house.

The last few weeks have been quite the journey for Y/N. The month before...he had a completely different life until it was flipped upside down. In the dawn of his new era...it was lonely and depressing. But upon meeting new friends like Clint...like Kate...it changed it for the better.

He still missed Peter, Ned, Gwen, and MJ. Maybe sometime down the line he'd encounter them again and they can sort of start over. But for now Y/N felt like he should move onto another phase in his life...with brand new bonds...and stop brooding over what he lost. He accepted that now.

"Wise words, ma'am." He said and got up from the sofa.

Kate and Clint conversed as they treaded toward the porch.

"Hawk Shot?" She gave another possible name for herself? "It's like Hot Shot but like Hawk instead."

"Not good." He replied.

"Damn. Lady Arrow?"

"Nah."

She huffed. "Fine."

Clint put his hands in his pockets. "You know what, actually I have an idea..."

As they talked, Y/N came out and walked down the steps. Clint continued.

"Hawkeye."

Her eyes widened. "Hawkโ€”Really?"

"I pass it on to you, Kate." He replied with a nod.

Y/N walked up to them. Clint smiled and gestured toward her.

"Kid, say hello to the new Hawkeye. What do you think?"

Y/N initially didn't respond and got closer to Kate. He pulled her in by the waist and kissed her on the lips. The raven-haired let out surprised gasp that was muffled in their embrace.

He parted a finally replied. "That's pretty awesome."

"Theโ€”the name or the kiss?" Kate asked, still taken aback.

"Both, I guess." He replied.

"I'll let you two be." Clint shook his head and stifled a chuckle. He started making his way back to the house. "Kids."

Y/N still held Kate, looking into her eyes as he spoke.

"I want to thank you...again...for everything. For pulling me out of such dark time in my life. I convinced myself that I couldn't get close to anyone or else they'd get hurt. But you showed me that once in a while..." He shrugged. "...it's cool to let someone in."

He continued. "And along with letting you in, I'd like you stay."

Kate knew what he was inferring. "Stay?"

"Yeah."

"Unpack my bags, lounge on the sofa, kick my feet up sorta thing?"

He laughed. "In a sense. You get it."

Kate nodded and traced her finger down his cheek. "I'd like that."

Y/N smiled and leaned in to kiss her again. Kate reciprocated the act and the two embraced amidst their snowy surroundings.

BACK IN NEW YORK, Y/N was in the Flatiron District. The young man had been job-hunting for the last few days, which was quite a task because of his Spider-Maning.

He then heard about possible openings in one establishment. The media company was expanding and had recently purchased space in the Flatiron Building. They needed photos of one specific vigilante. That company...The Daily Bugle.

Y/N took an elevator up to the floor and stumbled upon several employees at their stations. He walked through the aisles and made his way to the office in the back of the room.

Before he can get in, another man walked out of the office. J. Jonah Jameson had escorted him out, then man having a angry look.

"Get out! That is the dumbest idea you've ever had! And you have had some doozies!"

"But, sirโ€”"

"The door's over there!"

The man let out an exhale and walked away. Jonah went back inside and shut the door, but the teenager could still see him through the windows.

"Can I help you?" A voice called out to him.

Y/N looked at who spoke. His breath hitched for a second upon realizing that it was Betty Brant. He had totally forgotten that she worked there, having started as an intern earlier in the year.

"Uh...yeah." He began. "I had an interview scheduled for a photographer position."

"Oh, okay." She replied. "Let my tell my supervisor."

The blonde went over to an African American man nearby. They spoke for a moment and the man looked over at Y/N. He walked over to him.

"Hi. I'm Joseph Robertson. People around here call me Robbie."

Portrayed by Denzel Washington

Y/N shook his hand. "I'm Y/N L/N."

"I hear you're ready for an interview with the man himself."

"As I'll ever be."

Robbie nodded. "Follow me."

The man entered the office and Jonah looked up to see his editor-in-chief. His brow furrowed upon seeing the teenager behind him.

"Who's this?" He asked.

"Your 1:30 interview is now, Jonah." Robbie replied.

Jonah thought for a moment, recalling that he had that on his schedule.

"Right." He gestured for Y/N to sit down. "This shouldn't take long."

Robbie left the office. Y/N sat down across from Jonah. The journalist leaned back on his chair.

"So why does a kid like you want a job in a place like this?" He asked.

"Well, the Bugle is a...trusted source...for many people in the city."

"Not just many. But over 60%!" He exclaimed, then quieted as he added. "Of the 25 to 69 age demographic."

"Right...andโ€”"

"How old are you?" He abruptly asked.

"Eighteen. I'm turning nineteen in a month."

"Graduated?"

He rubbed the back of his neck. "I got my GED a couple of weeks ago."

"Any experience in the field of journalism?"

"Not really. But it doesn't seem that complicated."

Jonah straightened up. "Not that complicated? I have worked from the ground up to be where I am today. You think being in this line of work is all sunshine and rainbows?"

He nodded. "No, sir."

"It's cutthroat! Getting the news out to the great people of this city...unbiased and accurate news I have to add...is quite the battle competing with these other outlets."

"I don't know about accurate..." Y/N mumbled.

"What was that?" He asked.

"Nothing, sir."

Jonah stood up. "You still need experience in workforce to understand. Go on, there's the door. And maybe grow a mustache before you schedule another interview."

Y/N let out an exhale and was about to leave. Suddenly, another employee walked into the office.

"Sir, here's the photos Brock delivered."

"Bring 'em over here, Hoffman."

He handed the tablet to Jonah and he scrolled through them. His face was immediately plastered in disgust.

"This is all he could get? My grandmother could get better pictures than these...and she's dead!"

"We're still gonna need to put something out."

Jonah grumbled. "They're going to look like shit in print and online. You can't even tell if it's Spider-Man with this quality."

Y/N stopped in his tracks and turned back around. He had photos of...well, himself...and was going to show it to him before he was sent away. Now he had his chance.

"You need pictures?" He asked.

"What are you still doing here?" Jonah asked annoyingly.

Y/N took physical photos from his satchel and handed him the folder. Intrigued at what it contained, the boss looked through them. Hoffman was in awe at the quality.

"Oh, my...where did you get these? How?" He asked.

"I...climb a few flagpoles. Sit in the roof of a couple buildings. Go the extra mile." He lied...sort of.

Jonah pressed a button by his telephone and called in his editor-in-chief.

"Robbie! Get in here."

In a matter of seconds, the man came in and went over to see what he had. He was also intrigued by the photos.

"Wow...these are as good as the ones Spider-Man posts himself on Instagram." He looked at the teenager after noticing his reaction. "My son follows him."

"Unfortunately, we can't those...he blocked me." Jonah said then gazed upon Y/N. "These are still pretty crap."

"We need these, Jonah." Robbie said.

Jonah agreed, although he didn't want to admit it. He had just kicked the teenager out but now had to basically bring him back in. And he lied...he actually thought pictures were great.

"I'll give you $500 for them. Standard freelance fee." Jonah told him before handing them to Hoffman. "Run the first photo for tonight's blogpost and the second for tomorrow's paper."

Jonah grabbed a pen from his desk and wrote on a small sheet of paper.

"So...do I get the job?" Y/N asked as he watched.

He waved his finger. "Freelance. It's the greatest thing in the world for a kid your age. Like I said...get out on the workforce first and gain some experience."

Jonah walked over and put a hand on his shoulder, escorting him to the door.

"You hand me some more shots of that spandex-wearing clown, maybe I'll take them off your hands. But I never said you had a job." He handed him the paper. "Give this to Miss Brant and she'll hand you the check. Bye-bye now."

He gently shoved Y/N out the door and closed it. He let out an exhale and looked at the paper, seeing $500.00 and Jonah's signature on it.

The teenager smiled. He didn't get a job per-se, but his current position was better then nothing.

Y/N didn't take the elevator to the ground floor, but to the top instead. He took the stairs to the roof of the flatiron building and went to the edge, gazing upon the skyline.

He was already out of his regular clothes and in his Spider-Man suit. The sunlight hit the young man's unmasked face.

He thought about his current situation. He had friends, a relationship, and a way to earn income. He also still volunteered at F.E.A.S.T and had a good time doing so, which was something his dad would've been proud about. Unlike how he felt a month ago...he didn't have to hide his pain. There was nothing to hide.

He was genuinely happy...both as Y/N and Spider-Man.

With a smile, Y/N put his mask on and leaped off the building, initiating a swing through the city.

KATE BISHOP ARRIVED to her old apartment. It was the first time she's been there since the fire and her encounter with Yelena Belova. It was quite an empty space and she'd have to decorate it again if she were to move back in.

That won't be soon though, since she now had her mother's penthouse. She was going to have to keep it occupied with Eleanor being in jail for the time being.

She walked through the barren room and put her keys down on the counter. Suddenly, a voice called out from the top floor.

"Kate Bishop."

The raven-haired girl shot her eyes up at the railing above. She gripped her keys again, prepared to throw it. Although she didn't have her bow, she could do some damage with what she had.

"I didn't mean to alarm you."

The figure stepped out into the light. Kate's eyes arched upon seeing who it was. She recognized him...he was an Avenger...but looked different. The fact that she heard he died confused her.

"The Vision?" She asked in awe.

"That, I am." The white Vision said as he glided down to her floor.

"What are you doing here?" She asked. "And I thought you died. How?"

"A question that shall be answered another time. We have important matters at hand."

"We?"

"Yes, we do." Another voice called out.

Upon on the railing, an African American teenager walked toward the stairs. He joined the two on the ground floor.

Kate was even more confused. "Whoโ€”were you two just lounging up where my room used to be orโ€”?"

"I'm Nathaniel Richards. Vision told me this is where you used to stay."

Portrayed by Chosen Jacobs

"And what do you want? Is this about my mom? Because she's been arrested." She thought for a moment and smiled. "Or is this some Avenger initiation? Like some Nick Fury type stuff?"

Nathaniel looked at Kate. "I'm going to need your help, Kate. There's something looming in our future...someone I know all too well."

Kate listened in on what he had to say. Nathaniel continued.

"From my time here so far...I've realized that the Avengers are either inactive or disbanded in a sense. That can't continue any longer. We have to prepare for what's to come."

"You are one in many young extraordinary people in my database that are compatible for the team we want to build. A team you could lead." Vision spoke.

Vision's left eye lit up and a hologram appeared in the room. It had map of the world and red dots were placed in many places across the United States and also some aboard. There were names of teenagers and young adults listed on the side.

"Whoa..." Kate replied. "That's a lot to take in."

"Like I said, Kate, I need your help. Or else...everything you love and care for will be taken away. Your world will be conquered."

Kate took in what the teenager had to say. She's operated under the mantle of Hawkeye for a only a couple of weeks and was now being entrusted with this request.

Although hesitant at first, she understood that it was her responsibility now to help, even if the plea came from a boy she didn't know and a former Avenger the world thought was dead.

That was what she signed up for now that she was a hero.

Kate nodded. "Okay...I'm in."
