Y/N WAS IN metal shop the next day. He secretly brought the glowing Chitauri power core and wanted to use the time to try and look into it. Peter stood across from him as he pounded it with a hammer.
"You think this is safe?" He asked.
"What's the worst that can happen? This whole class explodes?" Y/N replied. "Maybe."
A piece of its casing finally broke apart. Y/N nodded and began to take it out.
"Thanks for bailing on us." Ned said walking up to the two, mentioning the party the night before.
"Well, something came up." Y/N replied.
Ned looked down at the core. "Whoa. What is that?"
"I don't know. Some dude tried to vaporize me with it."
"Really? Awesome."
Y/N gave him a look. Peter shook his head and chuckled at his friend's ill-placed awe.
"I mean...not awesome." Ned corrected. "Totally uncool of that guy. So scary."
Y/N continued to try and take it apart. Peter leaned over the table and spoke.
"We think it's some sort of power source."
Ned agreed and pointed at the wires. "Yeah. It's connected to all these microprocessors. That's an inductive charging plate. That's what I use to charge my toothbrush."
"Then whoever's making these weapons is obviously combining alien tech with ours." Peter replied.
"That is literally the coolest sentence ever said." Ned said. "I just want to thank you both, for letting me be a part of this journey. Into this amazingโ"
Y/N gave it one last whack with the hammer, causing the core to expel a small amount of energy which was strong enough to shake their surroundings. A couple of students looked back in confusion, but their teacher kept working on his crossword puzzle.
"Keep your fingers clear of the blades!"
Y/N took a breath and looked down at the now freed power core on their table.
"I got to figure out what this thing is and who makes it."
"We can go to the lab after class and run some tests." Peter said. "You down, Ned?"
"Oh, hell yeah."
"This calls for the triple threat bro-shake." Y/N said. The three friends stood beside each other and commenced their signature handshake.
A/N: Imagine this but with the three of them and Y/N is in the middle lol
They walked toward the lab. Music from the ongoing band practice could be heard through the empty hallways. Y/N had placed the power core into his pocket.
"First, I say we put the glowy thing in the mass spectrometer." Ned said.
Y/N chuckled. "I think we need to come up with a better name than glowy thingy."
"You're right."
The teenager looked ahead and his eyes widened upon seeing a familiar face. Walking with another unknown man was one of the goons from last night, Herman.
"Shit." Y/N muttered and immediately leaped behind a wall. Peter was startled by the sudden reaction and followed suit, leaving Ned standing in the middle of the hall.
"Come on, come on, come on." Y/N whispered harshly toward his friend.
Ned looked around for a bit before walking behind the wall they were hiding behind.
Y/N peeked out of cover and looked at the men. He looked back at his friends.
"That's one of the guys who tried to kill me."
"Are you serious?" Peter exclaimed.
"Yeah."
"We got to get out of here."
Y/N shook his head. "No. I gotta follow him. Maybe they can lead me to the guy who dropped me in the lake."
"Someone dropped you in a lake?" Ned asked.
"Yeah. It was not good. Very cold."
The two goons went through a doorway. Y/N was going to pursue but Peter stopped him before he could move.
"If you're going to go all Splinter Cell, you're gonna need this."
He brought out his backpack and unzipped it, taking out a small container. Peter opened it and showed a small spider-bot, placing it on his web-shooters.
"This is a tracer. I've been working on it for the last few weeks."
"A tracer? Thanks. Could've given this to me sooner, though."
Peter scoffed. "What were you going to do with just one? Stick it onto a bike thief? I was going to give you them after I made multiple."
Y/N chuckled and gave a nod. He made his way down the hallway, leaving Peter and Ned so he can follow the goons.
They were in an empty workshop rummaging through boxes of scraps and looking at the tools on the table. Y/N crept down the steps and eavesdropped on their conversation.
"Man, can you imagine what the boss would say if he knew where we were?" One of the men said.
"There was an energy pulse around here." Herman replied.
"There's no sign of the weapon. And even if it was here now it's gone."
"Then so are we."
Herman sighed and looked toward the steps where Y/N was, but the teenager was gone before he could be spotted. They started walking out of the workshop, and Y/N was sticking beneath a table.
He extended his arm and activated his web shooter, firing out the spider-tracer that Peter had given him. It stuck to Herman's shoe and the bot discreetly crawled into his pant leg.
Y/N sighed in relief. The men walked out and after a few moments of waiting, the teenager came out from under the table and left the workshop too.

AT PETER'S APARTMENT, the three friends were in his room. Ned held up one of Y/N's web-shooters that displayed a hologram of the area the spider-tracer was at.
"This is so awesome." Ned said in awe.
"I know right." Peter replied as he plopped onto the bed. He was pretty proud of himself, having developed the hologram feature and the tracer itself.
Y/N walked over to the two and viewed the projection as well.
"They're in Brooklyn."
The trio stayed in the room the whole afternoon as they followed where the goons were going. It wasn't such a tiresome job, as having snacks and card games made the time go by faster. Y/N even got to work on the LEGO Deathstar which he missed out on a couple of days ago.
Y/N also got to develop more web-cartridges with the materials Peter had. He even got to see a prototype of a repulsor gauntlet that Peter was working on.
Later into the evening, the device alerted them of the status of who they were tracking. Ned, who had the Spider-Man mask on, sat up from the bed and grabbed the hologram.
"They stopped."
Peter was at his desk with his feet up. He looked over at Ned and got them off.
"Where?" He asked.
"Maryland."
Y/N had been on the ceiling for the last few minutes. He stood up and was upside down as he looked at his friends.
"Huh."
"What's there?" Ned asked.
"I don't know. Evil lair possibly." Y/N replied.
"They have a lair?"
"Think about it. A gang with alien guns run by a guy with wings? They have a lair."
Ned nodded his head. "Badass."
"But how are you going to get there? That's like 300 miles away." Peter chimed in.
Y/N looked over at the wall, seeing the Academic Decathlon flyer Peter had. The teenager had an idea.
"It's not that far from D.C..."
โข โข โข
IT WAS A LAST minute change of plans. Y/N told his father about wanting to join the decathlon team for their trip and he was okay with it, only remarking about how he shouldn't have quit in the first place.
At the end of the school day, Y/N met up with the soon-to-depart members of the team. He saw Ned, Peter, Gwen, and MJ amongst the group.
"Y/N, my brother!" Abe called out in his accent.
"Hey, guys."
Liz turned to him. "Y/N?"
"Uh...I was wondering if I can re-join the team?"
"No. No way." Flash was already against the idea. "You think you can just quit the team and then roll up expecting to be welcomed back by everyone?"
Mr. Harrington walked out of the bus, smiling at the sight of Y/N.
"Hey! Welcome back, Y/N. Peter told me about your change of heart earlier. I'm glad you could join us."
Flash was in awe. Y/N glanced at Peter and he gave a thumbs-up back at his friend.
"Flash, you're back to first alternate." The teacher told him.
"What?"
"He's taking your place!" Abe said, garnering a collective laugh from many of the members.
MJ began to speak up. "Uh, excuse me, can we go already? Because I was hoping to get into some light protesting in front of one of the embassies before dinner, so..."
"Protesting is patriotic. So let's get on the bus."
Flash begrudgingly took off his decathlon jacket and threw it at Y/N. He was the first one to get on the bus and the rest started to follow suit. Y/N put the jacket on and let them get in first.
"So what changed your mind?" MJ's sudden inquiry startled him.
"Well...it's not cool to quit every single thing at school." He replied.
"Just marching band and robotics?" She asked.
"Those aren't as fun as AcaDeca." He fastened the remaining buttons of his jacket. "And I got you here."
MJ was caught off guard by his remark. Y/N was busy buttoning the jacket that he didn't realize how his words came out.
"Uh...and I got Peter...Gwen...Ned. And then there's Abe, who's always the life of the party."
The brunette chuckled at the teenager's attempt to save face. "We're glad you're back, loser."
She made her way toward the bus but turned back around. MJ spoke in her monotone voice yet again.
"But don't actually be a loser. That's the last thing we need when we have championship aspirations."
She went inside. Y/N smiled to himself and then finally entered the bus as well.
They've been on the road for quite some time. Washington D.C was still about 126 miles away and the team continued going over practice questions. As team captain, Liz moderated it.
She asked a question, Cindy rang her bell and answered.
"The second law of thermodynamics."
Another question. Charles rang his bell and answered quite cheerily.
"Frank Sinatra."
Another question. Gwen rang her bell.
"Charles Louis Alphonse Laveran."
Yet another question. Flash rang his bell this time and answered.
"Fort Sumter."
Abe rang his bell. "Flash is wrong."
Some of the students laughed. Liz shook her head and flipped over another card.
"All right, guys. Stay focused."
"Don't overwork them." Mr. Harrington said from the front of the bus.
Liz started to ask another question. "Name three alkaline earth metals."
Peter rang his bell. "Uh...Strontium, Barium, Vibranium."
"Correct."
Liz asked another question. "In 160 CE, what led to the collapse of the Han dynasty?"
Y/N rang his bell this time. "The Bubonic plague."
Liz nodded. "Very good, Y/N. Glad to have you back."
"Glad to be back."
The team made it to D.C. Once they were dropped off they walked through the building where the event was going to take place.
"Everyone stick together." Liz told them.
"You kidding me? This place is huge." Charles remarked as he looked around.
"I've seen bigger." Flash replied.
Abe pointed up. "There's a bird in here."
Y/N looked around as well, nodding with an impressed look on his face. He couldn't believe he almost missed his chance to be there with the squad.
"It's nice being back in D.C." Gwen said as she walked up to him.
Y/N nodded, remembering that she grew up there until her family decided to move to New York when she was seven.
"Never been here before. Maybe you can show me and Peter around."
"If we have time, then."
The group split up a while later, making their way to their hotel rooms. Fortunately, Peter, Ned, and Y/N shared one. It had two beds and a pull-out couch, which Y/N had to use since he lost a rock-paper-scissors match with Peter.
After that though, Peter informed him about a call he got from Happy Hogan earlier. He saw that they were in D.C because of the tracker in the spider-suit. Y/N didn't want what he was about to do to be on Stark's radar, so with the help of Ned and his laptop they were able to hatch a plan.
Y/N connected the suit to the laptop and Ned was immediately able to see the code on the screen. Peter and Y/N looked through the inner lining of the suit, trying to look for the tracker.
Ned looked at Y/N. "Can I ask why we are removing the tracker from your suit?"
"Because I gotta follow these guys back to their boss and take them down." Y/N finally found the node within the lining and was prepared to take it out. "And to put it simply...I don't want Tony Stark to find out."
"So you're lying to Iron Man now?"
"Well..."
"It wouldn't be the first time." Peter chimed in, mentioning how Y/N switched sides during the Germany battle.
"And you? How would your quote-unquote mentor think of being an accomplice to this?" Ned asked Peter.
"Won't have to worry if he doesn't find out."
Ned simply shrugged. Y/N peeled off the node with a pair of tweezers.
"Gotcha." He then stuck it to the lamp beside him. "All right, Stark. Have fun tracking this lamp."
Ned continued looking through the code. "There's a bunch of other subsystems on here. But they're all disabled by the..."
He began to chuckle. Y/N looked at Ned in confusion.
"...training wheels protocol."
"No way." Peter said with a laugh and went to look at it.
"What?" Y/N sat on the bed and saw exactly what they were looking at. He scoffed. "Turn it off."
"I don't think that's a good idea." Ned replied. "They're blocked for a reason."
"Come on, man. That's bullcrap. I don't need training wheels. You've seen the people I take on every day?"
"Bike thieves?" Peter asked.
Y/N knew his friend was just messing around. He scoffed, getting off of Ned's bed and jumping on Peter's.
"Not just bike thieves, bro." He replied.
"Right. Bike thieves and that one guy on the hoverboard." Ned added.
"You guys make it sound so lame. The dude had frickin' rockets shooting out of his wrists!" Y/N butted. "I even stopped this seven-foot Russian guy carrying an LMG with my bare hands."
"I...kinda agree with Ned." Peter replied. "This might not be a good idea. You're used to only the barebones resources..."
"And what if this is...like...illegal?" Ned chimed in.
"Please. And this is also a chance to show Tony that I can handle this winged son-of-a-gun. He thinks this is below his pay grade but above mine. I have to show him not to underestimate me."
"I really don't thinkโ"
"My F.O.S's." Y/N interjected and looked at them. "Friends of Spider-Man. I thought of that just now."
That got a soft laugh out of Ned, who liked that term and was now going to use it as much as he could. Ned let out a sigh, then tapped the key on his laptop. The spider-suit on the bed whirred and glowed before becoming still again.
Y/N wore the suit without the mask and then put on regular clothes over it. He zipped up his hoodie and put on his backpack, ready to leave the hotel.
"The glowy thing, it's evidence. Keep it safe, okay?" Y/N told his friends.
"You can count on us." Peter replied.
Y/N nodded, glancing at the hologram protecting from his web-shooter.
"They're moving."
"Be careful." Ned said.
Y/N left the hotel. After some time, Peter laid on his bed as Ned continued to be on his laptop. There was a knock at the door and Peter went to go answer it. On the other side was Liz who had a swimsuit on.
"Uh...hi!" Peter greeted.
"Hey. Some of us are going for a swim. Any of you wanna come?"
Peter glanced back at Ned, who overheard and gave a simple shake of the head. He looked back at Liz.
"Ned's gonna pass."
"Y/N?" She asked.
Peter quickly thought of an excuse for him. "He's in the bathroom...showering. Actually, he's taking a bath. That's why you can't hear the water running. He's a bath type of person."
Liz chuckled at the teenager's awkward tone. "How about you? Do you wanna come?"
He stood there for a moment unsure of what to say. Peter looked back at Ned, who gave a discreet thumbs-up. Being invited by a hot senior to go swim with her was surely a win.
"Uh...sure. Let me get ready."
"I'll see you down there." She said with a smile and walked away.
Peter closed the door and gave a look of awe to Ned. He nodded with an impressed look.
"Look at you." Ned said. "Now if Gwen's down there in a swimsuit too, you might actually die of spontaneous combustion."
Peter chuckled and shook his head, making his way to the bathroom. "Hilarious."
Y/N was on the roof of the hotel. He took off the clothes he had on, which left him with just his suit. He looked through the skylight, seeing some of the decathlon team hanging out by the pool. He even saw Peter who was talking with Liz and it made him smile.
He stood up and put his mask on. But upon doing so, his suit whirred and a feminine voice blared into his ear.
"Good evening, Y/N."
"Uh...who's there?"
"Congratulations on completing your rigorous training wheels protocol and gaining access to your suit's full capabilities."
The HUD in his lenses showed the many features he had now and demonstrated the infrared ability, which let him see the many heat signatures in the hotel.
"Oh. Thank you."
"So where would you like to take me to tonight?"
"Like to dinner? Heh, sorry, that wasn't funny." Y/N said. "I put a tracker on someone. He's a bad guy."
"Tracker located." He saw a map drawing out a path to the location. "Plotting course to intercept the target."
"Amazing." Y/N leaped off the building and started to swing. "As long as I get back before decathlon, everything should be fine."
โข โข โข
SPIDER-MAN PERCHED ON a semi-truck and let it take him to the destination. Y/N leaped off when it was time and ran toward a lone gas station, hiding behind the bushes.
"Detecting three individuals." The A.I informed.
Y/N saw a van parked. "This must be their secret lair. At a gas station? That's so lame."
He leaped onto the gas station sign, climbing it and perching onto the top.
"Hey, suit lady, what are they doing?"
"Do you want to hear what they're saying?"
"I can do that? I mean...you can do that?"
"Yes. Activating enchanted reconnaissance mode."
Y/N could see the three men within using the infrared and heard their conversation.
"I got the gauntlet from the Lagos cleanup. The rest is my design."
"Can't believe they're still cleaning the Triskelion mess."
"I love it. They keep making messes, we keep getting rich."
"Target inbound."
"Woah, they're in the middle of a heist. I can catch them all red-handed. This is awesome." The web-slinger said. "I'm gonna get a little closer so I can see what's up."
"Would you like me to engage Enhanced Combat Mode?" The A.I asked.
"Uh...yeah. That sounds dope."
"Activating Instant Kill."
His suit's eyes darkened and red dots appeared in the middle. After hearing the A.I the teenager retracted his request.
"No, no, no. I don't want to kill anybody. Who do you think I am? Jason Todd?"
"Deactivating Instant Kill."
Y/N leaped off and shot a web to swing closer, but it shot out a web-projectile instead. He fell to the floor.
"Ugh...what just happened?"
"You jumped off the sign and landed on your face."
Y/N shrugged it off and shot at the other sign in front of him. It shot a bunch of web projectiles instead.
"What's wrong with my web-shooters?" Y/N asked as he took cover.
"Rapid fire is the default for Enhanced Combat Mode."
"Why would I want rapid-fire?"
"Would you like to see more options? You have 576 possible web-shooter combinations."
"Jesus. Maybe Peter was right. I'm more comfortable with the bare-bones type of stuff."
Suddenly, three semi-trucks passed by on the road. There was a sound of a jet in the distance, and Y/N looked up to see the winged-man in the sky following the convoy.
"That's him." Y/N muttered.
Spider-Man activated his normal webbing and swung away, following the transport. He saw the winged vulture-like goon use tech to phase into one of the trucks. Y/N landed on it and looked through the purple hue.
"Woah. It's like some sort of matter phase shifter."
The Vulture took some time to gather the things he was going to rob. He radioed to his colleagues and leaped back up to the top. He put down his bag to remove the phase shifter nodes, but Spider-Man webbed the bags and took them.
"Hey, Big Bird! What happened to teaching kids their ABCs on Sesame Street?"
He looked back at Spider-Man with his glowing green googles. The Vulture leaped back and connected with his wings before flying at the hero.
"Oh, crap."
Y/N flipped over the incoming villain. He landed behind him and shot a web but it split into two, causing it to miss.
"Suit lady, what the heck was that?" Y/N exclaimed.
Vulture flew down and tried to grab Spider-Man with his talon-like feet but Y/N dodged, almost falling off the truck.
"Enhanced Combat Mode recommended that web-shooter combination."
"No! Just set it back the way it was!"
Vulture grabbed the duffel bag Y/N was holding and the two struggled for it. Spider-Man won the tug-o-war but fell through the phasing roof of the truck.
He groaned and was ready to leap back out to fight the man. But unbeknownst to him, the phase shifter nodes disconnected and closed the truck back up.
Y/N jumped up at full speed, hitting his head hard against the ceiling. He fell to the floor unconscious.
โข โข โข
Y/N STIRRED AWAKE after feeling the rumbling of his surroundings. He opened his eyes and saw that he was inside the truck.
"Ugh...my head..."
"You appear to have a mild concussion."
Y/N shook his head and continued looking around. He noticed the crates of tech and remembered his encounter with Vulture.
"I must be inside the truck. They probably hijacked it and took it back to their lair." He deduced. "Damn...I'm probably gonna have to fight my way out of this."
Y/N turned to the end of the container. He balled his fists and charged at the door, breaking it open. He made it to the outside, rolling over and getting into a fighting stance. He dropped his guard upon realizing he was in a much bigger space.
"Uh...suit-lady? What is this place?"
"You're in the most secure facility in the Eastern Seaboard. The Damage Control deep storage vault."
Y/N turned around, seeing the large concrete door of the vault. He put his hands on his head in shock.
"You've got to be kidding me!"
"The door will most likely be closed until morning."
"Morning?"
The teenager looked down. There wasn't really much he could do. He could lift nearly ten tons and punch hard, but the doors were too thick.
There had to be things to do to pass the time.
Y/N made a hammock out of web. He laid there as he talked to the suit's A.I, who was actually giving him company for the brief time he'd been there.
"Hey, suit-lady. I kinda feel bad not having a name for you, ya know? I think I should probably give you one."
"If that's what you want, Y/N."
"Maybe something like Michelle." He said the first thing that popped in his head. "No, no, no. That's pretty weird."
Y/N used a web to rappel down from the hammock, thinking of another name in the process. One came into his head.
"How about Aubrey? Or maybe Brie. That was...uh...my mom's name."
"You can call me Aubrey or Brie. Whichever you like."
"Brie it is."
Y/N talked with Brie as they went over other features his suit had, which included webbed wings that came out from his underarms. He also took a refresher course on the different types of webbing he had. After taking the time to do so, he laid on top of a crate and had a conversation with the A.I.
"Should I tell them I'm Spider-Man? Like...MJ and Gwen?"
"Are they your friends?"
"Yes. Sometimes I think it's not fair that they're in the dark while my two other friends know. But yet again, I'm kinda scared. I've known Ned and Peter longer than them...what if they think it's weird. How I'm going around in this one-piece suit chasing cars and punching ATM robbers? I wouldn't want MJ to think I'm weird. Or at least any more than she already thinks I am."
"There was a spike in your heart rate after mentioning MJ. Is she your significant other?"
"No, no, no. Not yet at least. She means a lot to me. That's why I'd be nervous to tell her this secret. I don't want her to be disappointed since I'm not...normal."
"Well, if I was her, I wouldn't be disappointed at all."
"Thanks, Brie. It's nice to have somebody to talk to." Y/N replied. "How long have we been here anyway?"
"Thirty-seven minutes."
He sat up. "What? Thirty-seven minutes? That's insane. I cannot do this anymore. I gotta get out of here."
Y/N leaped off the container and went inside it. He wanted to look for parts that could help him with the locking mechanism on the vault door.
After rummaging through some crates, he took out a glowing power core that looked similar to the one he had before.
"Oh, look. It's one of those glowy thingies."
"That glowy thing is an explosive Chitauri energy core."
Y/N's eyes widened. "Woah, woah, woah! You mean, we've been carrying around a bomb?"
"It would require radiation to transform it into an explosive state."
He immediately put it down and took out the phone in his decathlon coat. He tried dialing both Peter and Ned but he wasn't getting any service.
"Shit!"
He ran out and web-zipped toward the locking mechanism on the wall. He had to find a way to override it.
"Brie, I'm gonna need some help overriding this time lock."
The A.I and the web-slinger took the time to disable the lock. Using trial and error and putting in almost every possible sequence, the vault opened after the 247th trial.
"It worked!"
Y/N swung out of the vault and stuck to the ceiling. He waited for a truck to pass by, where he dropped down onto it and took a ride into the nearby highway. He traversed from vehicle to vehicle trying to make it back to where the decathlon event was being held.
"Brie, get me to the decathlon as fast as possible."
"Sure thing. Just tell me where it is."
"Right across the street from the Washington Monument."
Y/N has been calling his friends throughout the drive on the highway. He assumed that they were currently participating in the championship. After Ned didn't answer, he left a message.
"Ned! Call me back! The glowy thing is a frickin' bomb!
Spider-Man leaped from car to car trying to get to the town as quickly as possible. He made it off the highway and was now in D.C, being able to see the monument in the distance. Suddenly, his phone rang and Y/N couldn't be happier to hear Timbaland's lyrics.
He answered the phone. "Oh, Ned! You're alive."
"Dude, are you okay?"
"Where the glowy thing? Do you have it? Does Peter have it?"
"Don't worry, it's safe. It's in my backpack."
"No! Ned, listen! That thing is dangerous!"
"You missed the decathlon. Pete and I covered for you."
"Ned, listen to meโ"
"We're at the Washington Monโ"
Suddenly, Ned stopped talking. Liz was now on the line, having taken the phone from Ned.
"Y/N? Is that you?"
"Hey, Liz!" Y/N greeted and leaped off the truck. He started running through the crowd toward the monument. "Can you put Ned back on the phone?"
"You flake!ย You're so lucky we won. You know, I want to be mad, but I'm more worried. Like, what is going on with you?"
"Liz, I have to talk to Ned! This is important! Or pass it to Peter, I don't care! There's something in his backpack. Don't let it get through an X-Ray!"
He got no response and realized that the line went dead. He cursed to himself.
"Damn it!"
Y/N ran across the street, tossing his backpack at a tree and webbing it in place. He sprinted as fast as he could toward the Washington Monument. When he made it, there was a rumbling, and pieces of concrete started to fall. He knew that the energy core caused it.
"No, no, no. Brie, what's going on up there?" Y/N called out.
"The Chitauri core detonated and caused severe structural damage to the elevator."
Y/N was relieved that it only caused structural damage and no casualties. His friends were still okay, at least for now.
"Spider-Man! My friends are up there!" A voice called out to him. Y/N turned around and saw that it was MJ.
"What?" He turned around and faced her. "Uh, don't worry, everything's going to be okay."
Y/N ran toward the wall of the monument and leaped onto it. He started to wall-crawl up the side, jumping as well to cover more distance at a quicker pace.
Brie started to inform the web-slinger of the situation as he took the time to climb the tall monument.
"Estimating ten minutes before catastrophic failure."
"Their safety systems are completely failing."
"The occupants are in imminent mortal danger."
Y/N kept climbing. "I'm going as fast as I can!"
"You now have 125 seconds until catastrophic failure."
"What? Why? I had ten minutes!"
"Unexpected motion has caused the deterioration to escalate."
"How do I get in there?"
"Activating reconnaissance drone."
The spider within the symbol on his chest detached and flew away. Y/N was in awe.
"Has that been in there this whole time? That's so cool."
"Locating optimal entry point." Brie said. After a few seconds, she spoke again. "Proceed to the southwest window."
"I'm on my way!"
Spider-Man kept climbing the monument until he was close to the top. He made it to where the vertical wall started sloping into the point and he took the time to catch his breath.
"Holy shit...holy shit." Y/N breathed out as he looked down.
"What's the matter? You are at the southwest window. Why the hesitation?"
"It's just...I've never been this high before."
"You have also not re-installed your parachute, so a fall from this height would be fatal."
"Thanks, Brie."
"You're welcome."
Y/N crawled toward the window. He tried kicking it but it wasn't breaking.
"Why isn't it breaking?"
"It's four-inch ballistic glass. You'll have to create more momentum."
"Of course."
Y/N shot a web-line toward the top. He held on and jumped off, dropping down at the glass. After a few tries, he ended up cracking it. Suddenly, he heard a helicopter flying behind him.
"This is D.C Metro Police! Identify yourself!" An officer spoke through the speakers.
"I'm friendly! I'm friendly! Stop!"
"Return to the ground immediately!"
Y/N looked through the glass and saw a few of the decathlon team members already out of the elevator. There were still several more within.
He started climbing up, ignoring the commands of the officers. They had their guns aimed at the web-slinger.
"Return to the ground or we will open fire!"
Spider-Man made it to the tip of the monument. He took a breath and held on.
"I can do this..."
"This is your last chance!"
Y/N shook his head. "Well...YOLO."
He leaped off the top and started soaring over the spinning blades of the chopper. He opened his arms and activated the web-wings to keep himself above.
He then quickly deactivated them and dropped down to shoot a web-line at the bottom of the helicopter. He used the momentum to swing like a pendulum toward the cracked window.
"Incoming!"
He crashed through the glass and slid across the floor. At that exact moment, the cable holding the elevator snapped and it started to fall. Y/N shot a web-line that ricocheted off the wall and stuck to the top of the cabin. Spider-Man stepped against the doors and held onto the web holding the elevator.
"I did it!" Y/N celebrated and tried to pull them up, but the doors he was stepping on broke and he plummeted with them.
Y/N fell into the elevator through the hole in its ceiling. The cabin continued to fall but he shot a web up through the hole, which stuck to the roof of the elevator shaft.
He went upside down and stepped onto the ceiling, holding the web and keeping the cabin from plummeting further.
"Ahem, hey, how you doing?" Y/N tried out a Queens accent to hide his voice. "Don't worry about it, I got you guys."
"Yes!" Ned cheered and started to jump. "Yes!"
"Hey, hey, hey!" Spider-Man exclaimed. "Big guy, quit moving around!"
"I'm sorry, sir. So sorry."
Y/N pulled themselves up bit by bit until they reached the top of the elevator shaft. Authorities opened the doors and helped the remaining students out, which included Ned, Mr. Harrington, Gwen, and Peter. Liz, Cindy, and the rest were already out.
"All right. This is your stop. Move it, move it." The hero told them.
Everybody was pulled out expect Gwen. She was about to be helped out by Mr. Harrington, but the metal ceiling Y/N was stepping on broke off. The elevator started to fall again and was going to take the blonde teenager with it.
Gwen screamed as Spider-Man tried to grab her hand. Fortunately, he quickly reacted by shooting a web at her wrist and catching her. He held onto the web-line as the blonde dangled from it. Messing that up in any way would've been very bad.
"I got you. It's okay." Y/N said calmly. He started to pull her up as Gwen panted in fear.
He grabbed her arm and help her through the doorway. Mr. Harrington and another security guard helped her in.
"Is everyone okay?" Spider-Man asked.
Gwen nodded, recovering from her near-death experience. The students looked at each other and were appreciative of the hero's actions.
Spider-Man hung upside down from a web. He looked at Ned and Peter, who gave a nod back to him. He also noticed Flash, who was in awe of being in the presence of the vigilante.
"Uh..." Y/N began as he eyed the trophy too. "Congratulations."
Spider-Man let go of the web and free-fell down the shaft into the abyss. Mr. Harrington looked down into it.
"Thank you." He called out.
Flash peeked out next, holding the trophy and looking into the elevator shaft as he yelled.
"Are you really friends with Y/N L/N?"
