TEAM CAPTAIN AMERICA technically lost the airport battle, but Steve and Bucky were able to escape and head to Siberia. Natasha had defected last minute, letting the soldiers escape with the jet and incapacitating Black Panther. She was currently laying low, knowing authorities were gonna go after her too.
Clint, Wanda, Scott, Sam, and Y/N were apprehended and taken to the Raft, a floating super-max prison at sea. They've been there for the last 24 hours, the mood being as you'd expect for five prisoners.
Y/N and Wanda were the only super-powered individuals among them, and were held in special separate holding cells by the rest. They had Wanda wear a straight jacket so she wouldn't be able to use her magic, while Y/N's entire cell used special technology to disable his abilities.
Probably developed by Stark, he thought.
Surprisingly, Tony arrived at the Raft to speak with Thaddeus Ross. Stark had found out about Helmut Zemo and how he framed Bucky Barnes. He felt guilty about not listening to Rogers, and all of what happened could've been avoided if he did.
He wanted to make it right.
Secretary Ross didn't listen to Tony, so he went into the holding area to speak with the others under the guise of trying to track Steve.
In an arm sling, Tony Stark walked through the mechanical doors and entered the room. He saw the opposing side, people who were his friends, behind bars and in their cells.
"The Futurist, gentlemen!" Clint got up and started clapping, "The Futurist is here! He sees all!" Clint sat back onto his bed, looking down, "He knows what's best for you, whether you like it or not."
"Give me a break, Barton." Tony said walking up to his cell, "I had no idea they'd put you here. Come on."
Y/N's cell was across the room. He decided to speak. "Yeah, well, you knew they'd put us somewhere, Tony."
Tony sighed as he turned around, "Yeah, but not some super-max floating ocean pokey. This place is for maniacs. This is place is forβ"
"Criminals?" Clint interjected, "Criminals, Tony." He got up and went up to the bars, "Think that's the word you're looking for. Right?"
Tony didn't respond, and looked back at Barton.
"That didn't used to mean me. Or Sam, Wanda, Y/N. But here we are." Clint added.
"Because you broke the law. Yeah." Tony said. "I didn't make you. You read it, you broke it. You're all grown up, you got a wife and kids. I don't understand, why didn't you think about them before you chose the wrong side?"
Tony walked off, but Clint wanted to get one last word in.
"You gotta watch your back with this guy." He slammed on the bars, "There's a chance he's gonna break it."
"Hank Pym always said you never can trust a Stark." Scott said as Tony walked by his cell.
He looked at the man, "Who are you?" And continued walking. Scott sighed, "Come on, man."
Tony walked up to Y/N's cell. It pained him to see an Avenger he's seen grow into the man he is now behind bars. He remembered Y/N as a 22 year old S.H.I.E.L.D operative assisting him in taking down the Chitauri. He remembered how just last year they took down Ultron together. For the last several months, he's seen the budding romance between him and Wanda.
Now at 27 years old, here stood the Specter. Him and his colleagues branded as criminals.
"How's Rhodes?" Y/N asked, crossing his arms and looking at the wall. He wanted to know if his friend was okay.
"They're flying him to Columbia Medical tomorrow so...fingers crossed." Tony answered.
Y/N started shaking his head.
"What do you need? They feed you yet?" Tony asked.
Y/N scoffed as he looked at him, "You're the good cop, now? Remember how you shot me down with your arc reactor? You also knocked Wilson on his ass."
"I'm just the guy who needs to know where Steve went."
"Well, you better go get bad cop...because I ain't saying shit. I know he's in there somewhere."
Tony started tapping on his high-tech watch, and disabled the audio from the security cameras.
"Well, I just knocked the A out of their AV. We got about 30 seconds before they realize it's not their equipment."
Y/N looked around, not knowing whether to trust Tony anymore.
"Just look." Tony said, and discreetly started showcasing a hologram of the body of the real physiatrist that was supposed to handle Bucky back in Berlin, "Because that is the fellow who was supposed to interrogate Barnes."
Y/N looked at it. It's exactly what Steve had told him.
"Clearly, I made a mistake. Y/N, I was wrong."
"That's a first." Y/N remarked.
"Cap is definitely off the reservation but he's about to need all the help he can get."
Y/N sighed. This time Tony was genuine. He wanted to go help Steve and admitted to his mistakes.
"All right, but if I tell you...you have to go alone as a friend."
Tony nodded, "Easy."

IT WAS THE NEXT DAY. Y/N leaned against the bars of his cell. He wouldn't mind a book right about now, but the U.S Marshalls weren't going to give him any form of leisure.
It hurt to see Wanda across the room in her cell, still confined to her straight jacket. This was the total opposite of what he wanted.
Just a few months ago, the two talked about possibly exploring the world.
Then only a few days ago, he told her about how the Accords could be a stepping stone for everybody to see their true selves.
Now, they were in a super-max prison. The world seeing them as criminals.
Scott was by the bars of his cell too speaking across the room with Y/N. They were talking about basketball.
"That's how I lost $500 dollars. I didn't think the Warriors would blow that 3-1 lead." He said.
"Your friend is a Cavs fan?" Y/N asked.
"Luis is just a bandwagon."
Y/N chuckled.
"Trust me, I'm not. I've lived in San Francisco all my life." Scott added.
"My God, please shut up." Sam groaned.
Y/N looked across the room at Wilson, "Aw, the Pelicans fan's mad they haven't won...ever?"
Sam grumbled, "They will soon. Hopefully."
In the corner of Y/N's eye, he saw one of the security cameras shut off. He raised a brow, but chose to ignore it. Some time later, the lights dimmed and the mechanical doors opened.
Sam half expected the guards to come in and do their routine check ups, but he looked through the bars...and saw a familiar face within the shadows.
"Told y'all he wouldn't leave us behind." Sam remarked with a smile.
"Well, ain't you a sight?" Y/N said.
Steve went over to the access panel and shorted it, causing the cell doors to open.
"Sorry I couldn't make it sooner."
"We'll try not to hold it against you." Clint said leaving his cell.
Wanda's door opened, and Y/N immediately went over to help her out of the straight jacket.
"Finally." Wanda breathed out.
They all regrouped in the room. There were smiles all around.
"Shouldn't we be worried about the guards?" Scott asked.
"I dealt with them. Bucky's back at the jet." Steve answered.
Clint stretched and cracked his knuckles, "This has been fun, but believe me when I say that I am officially retired now."
Steve chuckled, "Understood, Clint. Go back home and take care of that brood of yours." He then looked at Scott, "Same with you, Lang. I'm sorry we pulled you into this."
"No hard feelings, Cap. Helping you guys was an honor."
Steve nodded, and looked at the rest of them. "Come on, let's get moving."
