Chapter 1 - Vanilla

I was in my living room, relaxing with a cup of tea, when I heard a knock on the door. I went to answer it, only opening the door a crack, and was greeted with the sight of my old friend Sour Lemon Cookie with something slung over her shoulder.

"Hey." she said, panting. It looked like she'd run all the way here. "Guess who I found 7/8 dead in a field full of wildflowers."

My mind immediately went to... no, that's not possible. "Come in, and I'll treat them." I knew they couldn't be Sorbet Shark or other cookies their size, the cookie was too large.

Lemon rushed past me and into the living room. She placed my tea and book on the floor and laid the cookie down on the coffee table. When I finally saw who it was, my heart leaped into my throat.

"Yeah... I wasn't sure you'd let me in if you knew who it was." Lemon said, rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment.

The sight of White Lily Cookie's bruised and cut body filled my eyes with tears. I instantly went for my staff and began healing her wounds. It soothed my soul to see the bruises fading and the cuts sealing.

While I was healing Lily, Lemon was raiding my tea stash. "C'mon, why don't you have any coffee, PV? Or at least berry juice?"

Seeing that Lily was satisfactorily healed and sleeping, I turned to Lemon and said, "I don't have coffee because Espresso stole my whole stash yesterday. I do have berry juice, but I keep it locked away because you know how Holly is when she drinks too much."

Lemon nodded, understanding. "Guess I'll just take sweetberry tea then."

We drank tea and chatted for a while, until the sun began to peek shyly over the horizion. Lemon then left, saying she had some Kingdom business to attend to.

As she was about to leave, she paused and asked, "Should I tell the others about Lily?" I shook my head, and she nodded in assent, running off into the dawn. I shut the door behind her and took a breath.

Then I looked back over at Lily. She'd been gone for who knew how many years! How was I supposed to tell her about the modern world? I'd have to soon, given that she'd likely wake up soon.

I inhaled deeply, mentally preparing myself for telling my oldest and truest friend the whole story.

PV really be being oblivious in that last paragraph
