I'M NOT REALLY SURE HOW THE WHOLE COMPUTER THING ACTUALLY WORK SO UH

All of this is torture.

 If Han had just asked me on Tatooine if we could give Luke and Ben and their two droids a ride to Alderaan, I would've said no. We would've been on their way, living our normal life.

 But instead, he went ahead and just told them yes. So now I'm sitting here, not daring to move as I'm terrified of a princess, who won't let me talk to the man I have a big crush on because he's busy trying to blow up a giant space station.

 If we all make it out of here, and this is a success, it's not a joke anymore, I'm going to kill Han Solo for real.

 Everything is happening so fast and so slow at the same time. People are dying, Luke is dead silent.

 "Red group, this is Red Leader. Rendezvous at mark six point one."

 "This is Red Two," Wedge says, "flying towards you."

 "Red Three," Biggs says, causing me to smile, and thank god he's okay yet again, "standing by."

 "Red Leader, this is Base One. Keep half your group out of range for the next run."

 "Copy, Base One. Luke, take Red Two and Three. Hold up here and wait for my signal...to start your run." He pauses. "That is it!"

 When all of this is done, I'm going to do as Leia says. I'm going to hug Luke tight and never let him go. We're going to sit and drink coffee in the cockpit, and I'm going to convince him to never take that X-Wing jumpsuit off. And maybe I'm going to kiss him. 

 God, he needs to get out of this.

 Red Ten's voice snaps me out of that, "We should be able to see it by now."

 "Keep your eyes open for those fighters!" Red Leader says.

 "There's too much interference! Red Five, can you see them from where you are?"

 "No sign of any..." Luke replies, "wait! Coming in point three five."

 "I see them," Red Ten says. "I'm in range."

 "Target's coming up!"

 "Just hold them off for a few seconds." There's a pause and then, "You'd better let her loose."

 "Almost there!" Red Leader replies.

 "I can't hold them!" Red Ten panics.

 "It's away!" Red Leader announces.

 "It's a hit!" Red Nine says.

 "Negative," Red Leader answers. "Negative! it didn't go in. Just impacted on the surface."

 This is all too stressful. I need to find Han, but if I move, I'm afraid of what Leia'll do to me. What if Han left without me? He wouldn't do that, would he? I mean, he'd do it to Luke or Leia easily, but not me, right? What if he did though? Do I go find him, or do I stay here?

 I hope he didn't leave.

 Luke's voice brings me back from what feels like the ten-thousandth time I've gotten lost in my own thoughts during this. "Red Leader, we're right above you. Turn to point oh-five; we'll cover for you."

 "Stay there," Red Leader responds nervously. "I just lost my starboard engine. Get set to make your attack run."

 I'm not quite sure what any of this really means, but I try to get lost in my thoughts again when I hear the Red Leader scream.

 Why did Luke ignore me the morning after I kissed him? Was it a bad kiss? Did he just not want to kiss me, did he want to just stay friends? Or did he want to kiss me first? Why am I thinking about all of this right now out of all things?

 "Biggs, Wedge, let's close it up," Luke's voice says over the speaker. "We're going in. We're going in full throttle."

 "Right with you, boss," Wedge answers.

 But Biggs asks, "Luke, at that speed will you be able to pull out in time?"

 "It'll just be like Beggar's Canyon back home," he answers, sounding a little more confident than I think he should be. God, I hope he's right.

 "We'll stay back far enough to cover you."

 "My scop shows the tower," Wedge says, "but I can't see the exhaust port! Are you sure the computer can hit it?"

 There's a pause, and then Luke says, "Watch yourself! Increase speed full throttle!"

 "What about the tower?" Wedge asks.

 "You worry about those fighters! I'll worry about the tower!" Luke answers, again a little more confident than I'd like.

 What if he doesn't make it? I mean, he seems extremely confident, like way more than he really should be, so what if that ends up getting him killed? Do Han and I just leave? (That is if Han hasn't left already.) Do I just stay with Leia then? God this is an awful situation.

 "I'm hit!" Wedge says over the speaker, causing me to begin panicking.

 "Get clear, Wedge," Luke answers. "You can't do any more good back there!"

 "Sorry!"

 "Hey, Luke,-" Biggs sounds more worried than I'd like, causing me to panic more, "-they're coming in much faster this time, I can't hold them!"

 "R2, try and increase the power!"

 "Hurry up, Luke!" Biggs pauses, and then, "Wait!"

 I fall back into my own thoughts. I'm never going to meet Biggs. What if I never see Luke again? This really isn't looking good for him. The longer this goes on, the more I convince myself that he and I are never going to sit in the cockpit drinking coffee again.

 No, he has to make it out. Because I don't know what I'm going to do with myself if he doesn't.

 "Hang on, R2!" 3PO says from the group of people surrounding the computer. A group I wish I was apart of so badly. Why is Leia making me sit over here? It's not like if I go over there I'm gonna fight to talk to Luke, I'm over that now. 

 Oh, who am I kidding, everyone knows that's exactly what I'm going to do.

 "His computer's off," one of the men at the computer says. "Luke, you switched your targeting computer off. What's wrong?"

 "Nothing, I'm alright."

 I'm going to kill him.

 "I've lost R2!" He says a few moments later.

 There are a few seconds of silence before Leia says, "Penny, you might want to come and see this."

 I rush over to the computer and look to see where she's pointing. "No," I mumble, "It can't be..."

 "Yahoo!" Han's voice yells over the speaker. He knocked out almost all of the TIE enemy ships. He's insane.

 "Is that Darth Vader?" I ask, and Leia nods. Vader's wingman panics after seeing the Falcon and veers into his ship, spinning them both out into deep space.

 "You're all clear, kid," Han says into the mic. "Now, let's blow this thing and go home!"

 All of it happens so fast, I'm not even sure of what's happening until Luke and Han pull away from the ship, and Han says, "Great shot, kid. That one was worth a million."

The next thing I know, Leia's pulling me towards Luke's ship.

 She calls his name and he pulls her in for a hug. 

 He smiles at me, but before he can come over to hug me, Han comes running up to the three of us, distracting Luke. "I knew you'd come back! I just knew it!" He laughs.

 "Well, I wasn't gonna let you take all the credit and take the reward." 

 Han playfully shoves his face, and Leia says, "I knew there was more to you than money." Han smiles at her, and Luke turns to me.

 "Penny," he smiles, pulling me in for a tight hug. I grin into him, and when he pulls away, he cups my cheek in his hand, keeping the other around my waist.

 And then Luke Skywalker kisses me.
