Chapter 32 - Dark Skies

Y/Ns POV

I awoke the next morning with Hermione resting with her arms wrapped around my body.

Thankfully, the common room would be open today and somebody named "Sir Cadogen." would be replacing him. Or at least that's what I heard from a conversation between Dumbledore and Snape last night.

That night

"Any sign of him, Professor?" Percy asked, standing right next to where me and Hermione were sleeping.

"No, all well here?" Dumbledore answered.

"Everything is under control, sir."

"Good. There is no point moving them all now. I have found a temporary guardian for the Gryffindor portrait hole. You'll be able to move them back in tomorrow."

"And the Fat Lady sir?" Percy asked.

"She is hiding in a map of Argyllshire on the second floor. Apparently, she refused to let Black in without the password, in return, he attacked. She's still very distressed, but once she's calmed down, I'll have Mr. Filch restore her."

Suddenly, the doors to the Great Hall opened and in walked Professor Snape.

"Headmaster." Snape said. "The whole of the third floor has been searched. He's not there. Filch had searched the dungeons; nothing there, either."

"And the Astronomy tower?" Dumbledore asked. "Professor Trelawney's room? The Owlery?"

"All searched...."

"Very well Severus." Dumbledore said. "I did not expect Black to linger."

"Have you any theory as to how he got in, Headmaster?"

"Many, Severus, each of them as unlikely as the next."

"You remember the conversation we had, Headmaster, just before....the start of term?" Snape asked.

"I do, Severus...."

"It seems....almost impossible....that Black could have entered the school without inside or outside help. I did express my concerns when you appointed...."

"I do not believe a single person inside this castle would have helped Black enter it. I must go down to the dementors....I said I would inform them when our search was complete."

"But didn't they want to help Professor?" Percy asked.

"Oh yes....but I'm afraid no Dementor will cross the threshold of this castle while I am Headmaster." Dumbledore said while walking away, Snape following close behind.

I looked over to Hermione and noticed she was awake, but her face was full of fear. She must have overheard the conversation as well.

I wrapped my arms around her body and pulled her close. I kissed her forehead and drifted off to sleep.

Present time

Hermione was still fast asleep with her arms wrapped around me. Most students were out of their sleeping bags and were eating breakfast at a long table in the middle of the room.

As much as I would like to stay in my sleeping bag with Hermione, it was time to wake up.

"Mione." I whispered while gently shaking her. "It's time to wake up."

"Five more minutes babe." She mumbled in her sleep.

"Babe huh?" I smirked. "Must have been one hell of a dream."

"Mmm, Y/N?" She stirred as she lifted her head, not even aware of what she just said in her sleep.

"Good morning." She said as she hugged me before grabbing my hand and pulling me to the table so we can have breakfast with our friends.

"You two sure took your sweet old time." Ron said in between his mouthfuls of cereal.

"Shut up Billius."

Harry's POV

When Y/N told us that the Fat Lady was to be replaced by somebody much worse, we all thought he was kidding.

He was not.

The replacement was none other then Sir Cadogen. A very annoying knight who would always try to pick fights with the other Gryffindors in duels. He also made a habit of consistently changing the passwords.

Obviously, he wasn't very good at his job. He came up with several ridiculously complex passwords that he would change at least three times a day. Neville had to write down a notebook of passwords for the next few weeks or so.

Ever since the attack, Professor McGonagall has made it so I was to be escorted around the school everywhere I went, be it a teacher, or even Percy Weasley. It was quite annoying to say the least.

Today we had a normal day of classes until we arrived in Defense Against the Dark Arts. A few moments after we took our seats, the door opened to reveal somebody who wasn't Professor Lupin.

It was Snape.

Oh no.

He jostled into the classroom, took his wand and flicked it towards all the windows, causing them all to close. When he arrived at the front, he pulled down the screen and turned around quickly.

"Turn to page....Three Hundred and ninety.....four." Snape said to us.

A/N: I can hear Alan Rickman while posting this. RIP

This is not going to be fun.

Y/Ns POV

After my magical training with Dumbledore, I had Muggle Studies with Hermione. A few hours after, we both went into a broom closet, wrapped the time turner around our necks, and spun it around the right amount of times.

A few seconds later, we were in Defense Against the Dark Arts, although instead of Professor Lupin teaching the class, it was Snape.

F*ck.

"Excuse me sir." Harry asked, not noticing that we had arrived yet. "Where's Professor Lupin?"

"That's not really your concern, is it Potter." Snape spat. "Suffice it to say your professor finds himself incapable of teaching...at the present time. Turn to page 394."

Nobody opened their books and stayed quiet until Snape turned around aggressively and flicked his wand at our books, causing the pages to turn, where the page read...

Werewolves.

"Werewolves?" I heard Ron say aloud to everyone's attention. What the hell is Snape playing at?

"But sir." Hermione said. "We've just learned about red caps and hinkypunks. We're not meant to start nocturnal beasts for weeks."

"Quiet."

"How did you two come in." Ron asked us curiously with Harry watching. "When did they come in?"

"Don't worry about it." I smirked.

"Now which of you can tell me the difference...." Snape continued. "Between an Animagus and a werewolf."

Ok seriously, what is grease head playing at?

Hermione then raised her hand to answer his question, but Snape ignored her.

"No one?" He said without turning around. "Are you telling me that Professor Lupin hasn't taught you the basic distinction between-"

"We already told you," Tom interrupted. "We haven't gotten as far as werewolves yet, we're still on-"

"Silence!" Snape yelled. "Well, well, well, I never thought I'd meet a third year class who wouldn't recognize a werewolf when they saw one. I shall make a point in informing Professor Dumbledore how behind you are...."

The amount of hate I have for this man is extraordinary.

"Please Professor." Hermione pleaded. "An Animagus is a wizard who elects to turn himself into an animal. A werewolf has no choice. With each full moon, when he transforms, he no longer remembers who he is. Furthermore, the werewolf only responds to the call of his own kind."

Across the room, Malfoy whistled like a wolf, earning most of the Slytherins laughter.

"What are you, like f*cking five?" I heard Mia say from across the room.

"Thank you Mr. Malfoy." Snape said.

"Thank him for what?" Parvati interjected. "All he did was prove that he's annoying little git."

"Quiet Ms. Patil." Snape said before turning to Hermione.

"That is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger." He spat. "Five points from Gryffindor for being an insufferable know it all!"

Hermione went very red and grabbed my hand tightly. The tears in her eyes evident.

"Hey!" I yelled getting everyone's attention. "That was completely unnecessary! Hermione answered your stupid question and you have the audacity to say that to her? How about you actually teach us like you're supposed to and stop being a great haired git!"

Snape stood up from his chair in front of the classroom and slowly made his way over to where me and Hermione were sitting. As he made his way over, Hermione's grip on my hand tightened.

"Detention L/N." Snape spat. "And if I ever hear you disrespect me, or the way I teach again, you will indeed be very sorry."

What are you going to do greaseball?

I continued to stare at him as a means for him to see how truly pissed I was, clutching my desk as I was doing so.

When I looked down at my desk I realized that I made a large dent from where my hand was.

Did I just bend the desk? With just my hand?

"As an antidote to your ignorance, and on my desk by Monday morning..." Snape said. "Two rolls of parchment in the werewolf, with emphasis on recognizing it." Snape didn't pull his eyes on me until he saw my fists clenching.

He looked back and saw my anger. He almost looked scared for a moment.

As if she could notice my anger, Hermione took her hands in mine. She met my eyes and warmly smiled, calming me down almost instantly.

"But sir." Harry said. "It's Quidditch tomorrow."

Snape then got closer to Harry's face. "Then I suggest you take extra care, Mr. Potter." He said. "A loss of limb will not excuse you. Page 394!"

Why is this guy the way he is?

The lesson continued on, everyone silent except for the occasional cough that echoed around the room every once in awhile. Snape would patrol the desks and peer at us as we wrote notes on werewolf's and how to recognize them. Me especially.

At the end of the lesson before I could leave the classroom, Snape held me back to arrange my detention.

"You will be arranged to scrub the bed pans in the Hospital Wing without magic, and if I catch you doing otherwise, I'll have you do two more detentions with me in the dungeons, is that clear?"

"Yes sir."

I left the room without another word to find the others waiting for me outside.

"What did he make you do this time?" Hermione asked.

"He has me scrubbing the hospital wing bed pans without magic." I said. "Why couldn't Black have killed him off, would have done all of us a favor!"

"Y/N!" Hermione scolded as Ron and Harry laughed.

"I know you secretly agree with me Granger." I replied.

Oh if only.

Hermione's POV

Today was the first match of our third year, and Y/Ns first match as a regular starter for Chaser, replacing Alicia Spinnet.

Wood gathered the team in the Common Room. It was his last year here at Hogwarts, so he was determined to win this match.

"This is our last chance—my last chance—-to win the Quidditch Cup." Wolf said to the team. "I'll be leaving by the end of this year. I'll never have another shot at it. Gryffindor hasn't won for 7 years now. We've had the worst luck in the world, but I know that we have got the—best—ruddy—team—in—the—-world.

"We've got three superb Chasers." Wood pointed at Y/N, Angelina Johnson and Katie Bell.

"Two unbeatable Beaters." He said to the Weasley twins.

"Stop it Oliver, you're embarrassing us." Fred and George joked.

"And we've got a Seeker who has never failed to win us a match." Wood put his attention in Harry with loads of pride.

"We also have a damn good Keeper." Y/N said while the others nodded in agreement.

"We think you're good too Oliver." Fred said.

"Spanking good." George agreed.

"We'll do it Oliver!" Angelina said.

"Definitely!" Harry said.

As they made their way to the pitch, I pulled Y/N back.

"Hey." He said. "Is something wrong."

"I just wanted to wish good luck to you." I said as I quickly kissed his cheek, causing both of us to blush.

"Thanks Mione." He said. "Now I know we're going to win." He gave me a quick hug before joining the rest of the team."

Apparently, Gryffindor wasn't playing Slytherin like they were supposed to since a certain blonde git was claiming that his arm was still "broken."

Instead, Gryffindor was playing Hufflepuff, who has a new captain and Seeker, Cedric Diggory. All of the girls fawned over him, I did have to admit, he was a bit cute, but Y/N was cuter, and I fancy him.

As the time of the match came, it was rainy so most of the players had to put on gear, I knew Y/Ns since the back of his uniform read "L/N" on the back as well as his Quidditch number U/N.

A/N: U/N is Uniform Number

Ron, Ginny, Selena, and I walked down to the pitch, ready to see Harry and Y/N play. I hope they stay safe today. Y/N especially.

Y/Ns POV

Who the hell agreed to play a Quidditch match in the middle of a storm?

As the match went on, the weather managed to get even worse. We were doing well, and I've scored a few Quaffles for Gryffindor, but we still needed to get the snitch.

Because of its small size, it was nowhere to be seen. Include the weather, and it makes finding the snitch worse.

While Harry was occupied with the Snitch, I stole the Quaffle from a Hufflepuff chaser, Matthew Stone. I flew the Quaffle to the hoops and launched it towards the middle, scoring another goal for Gryffindor.

Harry seemed to have found the Snitch, as he was now following Cedric at a great speed and went into the sky.

Unfortunately, a flock of Dementors followed him. So I decided to fly up after him.

As I was chasing after Harry into the sky, something felt off. I no longer heard the heavy rain falling as I chased him. The wind was no stronger than ever, but was forgetting to roar into my ears.

As if the entire world had gone silent all at once.

Suddenly, a figure had fallen from above me in the sky.

It was Harry. And he looked motionless.

I immediately turned my broom around and took off after my falling friend. I was going to try and catch him in midair to stop him from falling.

It's a very stupid idea, but drastic times come for drastic measures.

Suddenly, Harry's body slowed down as we neared the ground. From the corner of my eye, I could see Dumbledore start to slowly rise up. We reached the ground slowly as I swung my broom to the side to check on Harry.

Hermione, Ron, Ginny, and Selena ran down to the pitch to check on us. Hermione clutching me in a tight hug.

"Never do that again." She muttered into my chest. "I could have lost you."

"I'm not going anywhere Mione." I said. "I'm sorry to say that you're stuck with me for a bit longer."

"I'd like nothing more." She said with a warm smile.

You know, this would be the perfect time to kiss her on the lips. I just wanted to do that right now!?

"Is Harry okay?" Selena asked, looking very concerned for him.

"He looks like he's knocked out." Ron said. "The demeanors were all over him. But where is his broom?"

We looked over towards the Whomping Willow. Harry's broom had fallen into it.

Tough luck.

I turned my attention back towards Harry, where we noticed a golden object in his hand.

It couldn't be.

We got up close to take a better look and saw the Golden Snitch in the palm of his hand.

Harry had caught the Snitch in midair while falling and won the match for Gryffindor.

The Snitch released its wings and hovered around Harry's palm.

"I'll be taking that," Mum said. "What with Potter catching the Snitch during falls. I'm honestly surprised he didn't catch this one in his mouth as well.

She then strode away to end the match.

What a strange way to win a Quidditch match.

But hey, at least we won and at the end of the day. That's all that matters.

Dumbledore arrived to our position and conjured a stretcher to take Harry to the hospital wing. Looking very upset the Dementors have entered the grounds.

We followed the stretcher all the way to the Hospital Wing, hopefully to see our friend conscious again.
