𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. . .

Gemma, Jade, Josie, Avery and Louise sit in the studio going through ideas for the new album. There's scribbled lists and crossed out ideas scattering the small table in front of them, the five of them all having different input for different ideas.

"I really like sparks fly as the first single. It'll tell the fans that we're going a completely different route in terms of sound and aesthetic for our second album" Avery explains to the group

Jade nods in agreement "We've also got to think about the fact that we'll be singing these songs on tour so visuals and on-stage presence is also something to consider. Sparks fly will set the vibe for the whole era so if we go with it, we've gotta stick to it"

Louise shuffles through some pages in front of her, moving her half-empty coffee cup out of the way as she finds what she's looking for. The glory days tour setlist is printed in block letters, Louise's neat cursive writing fills the remaining space with details about lights, visual effects and any changes that had been made last minute. She had kept it from the opening night for a nostalgic kind of reason but now, she's looking at it to see how their next tour could differ.

The paper creases in her hand "I think it depends what songs from sound mind and letters from Boston end up on the set list. We can figure out a way to make the transitions between each song look clean if we get that out of the way first".

Gemma shrugs "We have to put what would you do on the set list, it's a fan favourite"

Avery picks at her nails whilst she listens to Louise and Gemma. As she's thinking about what songs could potentially make the new set list, her eyes light up in questioning "So we're definitely only picking from sound mind and letters from boston? no songs before that?"

"Is there a song you want to consider?" Josie asks as she leans back in her chair.

Avery shakes her head no and cracks her knuckles "Not really, I was just asking incase we were considering our whole discography"

Jade takes the pen and paper off of their manager and places flat in front of her. She quickly draws three columns, writing yes, maybe and no at the top of the page before placing the paper and pen in the middle of the table.

"Anything before the sound mind era, in my opinion, shouldn't be on the set list. The second album isn't finished yet so we shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves" Jade shrugs "Whatever songs are a definite no, write them down now"

Gemma quickly snatched the pen before anyone else has a chance to and she messily writes down almost every song on their first ep. In the maybe column she writes told you so, good in goodbye and feel like shit before putting the paper back where it was.

"Told you so?" Avery questions

Gemma kisses her teeth "We've got better slow songs and compared to the few we've written and recorded over the past three or so months, it just doesn't fit the sound we're going for anymore"

Avery nods in agreement, Josie and Jade thinking about it before ultimately nodding along.

Louise taps the paper "This doesn't have to be decided now but keep it in mind. Since the last tour went so well we're looking at an international tour which means it'll be bigger so pick songs that you will want to sing for at least four or five months, not just fan favourites"

Jade nods "We also need to think about an opening act"

"I've spoken to Laura directly and emailed Malcolm's team. They're sorting it out on their end but it's looking pretty good so far" Louis says as she stands, grabbing her empty coffee cup and putting it in the trash "No use using up studio time when we can talk about this whenever, though."

Jade takes the initiative and puts her headphones back on her head ready to record more adlibs just as their producer comes back into the room.

Josie, Avery and Gemma continue to wordlessly go through ideas, bouncing off one another without speaking.

Matt rolls his eyes at the instagram post. Avery is apologising profusely on the other end of the phone but really, he can't blame her. There have been times when even he's almost slipped up so it's not like he's going to get angry at her.

"Matt I am so fucking sorry! I was going to delete the comment afterwards but then Gem said not to because it would look even more sus so I left it but I swear I didn't mean to!"

Matt sighs "Avery it's all good. People already think they know so it's not like there's any real point to keeping it a secret now."

Avery pauses for a second, taking in what was just said to her "No?"

He places his phone down on his desk and puts it on speaker "Well, it's not like I'm gonna go posting about it but people already think they know so, really, all we're doing is feeding into their 'delusion'"

He says it so simply, so matter-of-fact that Avery feels like he's done a complete 180. Not even a month ago the pair were doing their best to keep it a secret from their friends let alone the rest of the world. She's proud in a way. Kind of like she's watched Matt grow into his relationship with Gemma.

She won't say that out loud though.

Instead she blows out a puff of air "Well I really am sorry. I honestly just wasn't thinking"

Matt shrugs even though Avery can't see him "It's fine, I'm sure you got an earful from Gemma anyway"

Avery laughs "Yeah I did, it was pretty funny. She's all freaked out about it"

That quirks Matt's interest.

"Freaked out about the fact you commented it, or the fact that people are now really thinking we're together?" He questions

"Not sure. Probably that I was the one who commented it" She says before taking a moment "You know she's not like... being super fussy about it being a secret, right? It was just unexpected is all. She's fine"

Matt leans back in his chair "Yeah I know. Thanks Aves."

"Ok. I'll talk to you later?"

Matt's already reaching to hang up before he realises he hasn't answered her out loud yet "Yep."

The sound of the line going dead rings through Matt's otherwise quiet room. He knows that Gem isn't throwing a fit over it not being the best kept secret anymore. He just wishes that he was able to post freely about his relationship without the worry of stranger's opinions ruining it.

His phone pings three consecutive times breaking the tranquility of his room. Looking at his notifications, he can't help but laugh.
