048 : endgame

"What's he doing here?" Theo whispered harshly outside the door of their bedroom, where Tom was still peacefully sleeping. Scarlett had been disturbed in her sleep by a bang at the front door, slamming, and here she was, Theo having just entered the home.

"What are you doing here, hm?" Scarlett crosses her arms, stepping away from the bedroom door, conscious of Tom and his sleeping state, careful not to wake him.

Theo pulls a confusing face, sputtering slightly. "Wha- I live here, baby." He chuckles, and Scarlett shakes her head in disbelief, scoffing slightly.

"I choose who lives in my home which I solely payed for or not, and you seem to be out of the house more than not, recently." Scarlett impatiently taps her forearms as they crossed, impatient with her fiancé.

Theo frowns, knowing what Scarlett was going to start shouting him about, but he refused to let on at that moment. "I was out for one night, calm down." He sighs.

"Seriously? This has been going on all week, T, you know how I get when I'm alone at night. My anxiety is through the roof!" Scarlett exclaims, raising her hands and walking toward the kitchen, aware the arguement could get explosive at any point.

"And that's why your 'best friend' is here, is it? Sleeping in the same bed as you are?" Theo seethes through his teeth, what looked like jealousy to Scarlett, but it was pure rage. If Scarlett was possibly sleeping with Tom, how were they meant to get married? How are he and Sophie meant to get the fortune they deserve?

"I can't believe you. You think I'm cheating on you? Again?  You have got to be taking the piss!" Scarlett shouts at the top of her lungs, giving no shits who heard or not anymore. She was being branded something she had never even considered doing in her life. It happened once, and yes it was with Tom, but Theo doesn't know. It wasn't out of love. It was random.

Theo gave no reply, which only urged Scarlett to continue. "Do you see this?" She points to the ring on her left hand, and Theo nods.

"This is because I love you, and I trust you, and I would do anything if it means I get to be with you. Because you're meant to be the love of my life, Theo!" Scarlett rages, and Theo sinks into himself, deflating.

"You are the love of my life, Scarlie." He pleads, and Scarlett gently nods.

"I know you are, but sometimes you don't act like it. Sometimes you act like you're playing me and using me for something else and it hurts." She says through salty tears, shaking them off.

Kissing her gently as an apology, Theo puts his coat back on, and Scarlett raises her eyebrow. Was he really doing the one thing she asked him not to do?

"I just think we need space for a bit. I'll be home for dinner. We can eat those enchiladas you said you cooked." He gently smiles, but Scarlett and Tom had eaten the Mexican feast when he arrived last night. They were both starving.

"Okay." She whispers, watching him go and hearing the bedroom door open straight after, watching Tom slink out.

"I know you heard." She sighs, and she was right. Tom heard every word from the moment Theo came through the door, demanding why Tom was in the bed Scarlett would usually share with him.

"It's okay, I have something to make the day ten times better straight away." Tom grins, a little yawn escaping his mouth after. It was sweet to Scarlett knew she didn't want to talk about the current issue at hand- she needed a distraction.

"And what's that going to be?"
