Yoomi had got her shock factor with ease. She barely even had to do in order to coax that reaction out of the I-Landers. Next, she would just have to stun them with her talents and the personality that some of them already knew of - and the personality that had been the reason why she got onto the show in the first place.

The effect would be ruined if she began to look around, so instead she kept her gaze perfectly straight.

She didn't need to take in the competition anyway; half of them she already knew, and the other half she would be getting to know very soon.

To start of with the glaringly obvious; the BigHit trio - Heeseung, Jay and Sunghoon. They had trained together, especially when the trainee supervisors had realised that Yoomi was more fit for training and completely weekly evaluations with the boys.

Heeseung, after his close brush with debut by almost being a member of TXT, was determined to be the very best. Yoomi had her sights set on beating everyone, she had been moved away from the girls from doing that, and now she wanted to do the same in the boys' category.

As many might understand, having witnessed the entirety of the competition, this caused a considerable amount of clashing between Heeseung and Yoomi. Competition that she thrives in.

Her ties with Sunghoon were different, far more complicated than a measly weekly evaluation with a ranking in mind.

Both were figure skaters and incredibly talented on the ice, bagging themselves titles and trophies at various competitions. They had almost been friends when it came to the bigger competitions; they were the two representatives for South Korea, and spent a lot of time together, especially when their careers took off and they found themselves training at the national training centre.

The both of them even managed to win the gold medals in men's and women's singles of Lombardia Trophy in Italy, as well as national and international recognition for other competitions.

They had even done a couple of duets together, for smaller competitions that they didn't really have interest in and also for events put together by boards and rinks, and even for the national skating celebration one year. They were young and they had chemistry when they danced together - that was hard to find in people as young as they were.

But for something that neither of them had ever spoken about, their friendship fell apart. Yoomi was the first to quit figure skating and turned to training at SM. Sunghoon did the same a year later, and they both found themselves training alongside each other once again.

It was common knowledge, not only among the trainees but the general public, that Sunghoon and Yoomi knew each other. But what was only between those two was the reason why the fell out. And from the glares that Yoomi had thrown his way, some could only guess at the severity of it all.

And then there was Jay. Whatever happened between Sunghoon and Yoomi was in the past, and they didn't continue to speak of it and simply ignored each other. Upon meeting, Jay and Yoomi had instantly clashed and it had been a downwards spiral of arguments and raised voices ever since.

It was so easy for them to loose their tempers with each other, although their anger was displayed in different ways - which often made it even worse. Their arguments had been explosive; shouting in the corridors, blowing off practise to ignore each other, doing things to personally upset the other.

Jongseong was the only person that Yoomi actually interacted with out of the trainees, and all it consisted of was arguing.

There were a few other trainees she had seen around the BigHit building; she thought one of the newer ones was called Jake, and there was EJ, who had also trained for a shorter amount of time.

Also Jungwon, who Yoomi recognised from training at SM together.

There seemed to be a good competition around her. Here she would be able to achieve what she couldn't as a mere trainee. But her focus shouldn't be on winning, it should be maintaining her image to perfection. Because that was what she was being paid to do.

With that reminder, she swallowed and kept her gaze forward, ignoring any of the looks she was getting.

Around her, the male trainees shared similar confused expressions; those who knew her confirming people's questions of whether or not Yoomi was any good. And as those facts spread, each boy seemed to realise something.

She surely must be insanely talented to be put on the show. One of their biggest competitors was now a girl.

But there was no time for them to dwell on it; an alarm blared around them and with that, the survival show was about to begin.

❛ AUTHORS NOTE ━━ this chapter wasnt
necessarily to do with the show, it was more
of an introduction to yoomi's relationships with
the boys and further into her mindset
i'll be properly focusing on the show next chapter
