Realization part one | Act 1
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
ย ย ย THE TWO BOYS arrived at the school which was unexpectedly empty except for Stiles's Jeep and surprisingly Jackson's Porsche which made them confused as they walked over to the cars, now wearing shirts they found in Ryle's car.
"Why is Jackson's car here?" Ryle asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"Lydia was with Jackson tonight. So, I'm sure she's here as well. Allison was meant to be studying with Scott tonight so she must be here too. Seems the whole Scooby Boo gang is here." Blaze rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Is Stile's Jeep dented or did I maybe drink more than I thought?" Ryle asked as Blaze looked at the Jeep which indeed as a large part dented as if someone had pulled it off forcefully which made him uneasy.
"Let's just go find them so we can get out of here." Blaze sighed as they walked inside the school and wandered the halls until they came across the group which was the office.
"Finally, there you idiots are. What is this? Junior prank night?" Blaze asked sarcastically as Stiles and Scott's eyes widen.
"Let me guess, I texted you too?" Scott asked in annoyance, as his worry grew more by the second.
"Ryle but yeah. Bad timing by the way." Blaze hissed as he smacked the boy on the arm who suddenly froze as if he could sense something no one else did.
Suddenly the ceiling collapsed, and the alpha jumped down making them all scream, "RUN!" Scott yelled as the group of 7 ran down the halls trying to find where to hide.
They found themselves in the cafeteria where they quickly moved the chairs in front of the door to block it off when Stiles snapped loudly, "Okay, nice work. Really beautiful job, everyone. Now... What should we do about the twenty-foot wall of windows?"
"Shit." Blaze cursed under his breath as his heart raced. Why couldn't anything just be normal? All he wanted to do was have a good time and get laid by the boy he liked, and he couldn't even have that!
"Can somebody please explain to me what's going on, because I'm freaking out here? And I would like to know why." Allison said hysterically which was how most of them were feeling, "Scott?"
Everyone was looking at Scott who didn't have an answer, so Stiles spoke up, "Somebody killed the janitor."
"What?" Blaze asked with wide eyes as he stood close to Ryle.
"Yeah, the janitor's dead." Stiles nodded with a look in his eyes that told Blaze there was more to it.
"What's he talking about? Is this a joke?" Allison asked in disbelief.
"What? Who killed him?" Jackson asked the question everyone, but Stiles, Blaze, and Scott wanted to know.
"No, no, no, no... This was supposed to be over... The mountain lion killed--" Lydia stuttered as her hands started to shake making Blaze walk over to her and wrap her in a tight hug.
"No, don't you get it? There wasn't a mountain lion." Jackson snapped angrily.
"Shut the fuck up, Jackson." Ryle snapped before Blaze could. The poor girl was practically shaking in fear, and he decided now would be the best time to be his usual dickhead self and Ryle wasn't having it. Not when his anxiety was so high, his head was starting to hurt.
"Who was it? What does he want? What's happening? Scott?" Allison asked question after question, not being able to think straight.
"I-I don't know. I-I just-- If-if we go out there, he's gonna kill us." Scott stuttered out.
"Us? He's gonna kill us?" Lydia gasped in horror as Blaze confirms to comfort his best friend.
"You're going to be just fine, Lyds. I won't let anything happen to you." Blaze reassured her softly.
"Who? Who is it?" Ryle asked Scott who gulped and hesitated for a moment as if he was thinking of an answer.
"It's Derek. It's Derek Hale." Scott spits out, making Blaze's eyes widen and by the looks of Stiles's surprised face as well, he wasn't expecting that answer either.
"Derek killed the janitor?"
"Are you sure?"
"I saw him."
"The mountain lion--"
"No, Derek killed them."
"All of them?"
"Yeah. Starting with his sister." Scott continued to lie through his teeth, making Blaze look towards the window, hiding his gaping face at the words coming out of his friend's mouth.
"The bus driver?" Allison asked him.
"And the guy in the video store. It's been Derek the whole time. He's in here with us. And if we don't get out now, he's going to kill us, too." Scott exclaimed.
"Call the cops," Jackson told Stiles.
"No," Stiles said automatically.
"Wh-what do you mean, "no?" Jackson asked incredulously.
"I mean, no. You wanna hear it in Spanish? No." Stiles said sarcastically and Blaze would have laughed if their lives weren't on the line, "Look, Derek killed three people, okay? We don't know what he's armed with."
"Your dad is armed with an entire Sheriff's Department. Call him." Jackson said sternly.
"I'm calling." Lydia said pulling away from Blaze as she pulled her phone out of her pocket despite Scott and Stile's protests, "Yes, we're at Beacon Hills High School. We're trapped, and we need you to----But--She hung up on me..."
"The police hung up on you?" Allison and Ryle asked in disbelief.
"She said they got a tip warning them that there are gonna be prank calls about a break-in at the high school. She said if I called again that they're gonna trace it and have me arrested." Lydia explained to them.
"Okay, then call again," Allison told her.
"No, they won't trace a cell, and they'll send a car to your house before they send anyone here." Stiles shook his head with a sigh, deflating everyone's hope.
"What the-- what-what is this? Why does Derek wanna kill us? Why is he killing anyone?" Allison sputtered as everyone looked toward Scott.
"Why's everyone looking at me?" Scott asked with a confused look painted on his face.
"Is he the one that sent her the text?" Lydia asked him.
"No. I mean. I don't know."
"Is he the one that called the police?" Allison asked this time.
"I don't know!" Scott snapped at her in frustration making Blaze put a hand on his shoulder.
"Alright. Let's calm down. Take a breather." Blaze said giving Scott a look that made him sigh and took a deep breath like Blaze had said.
"Okay, first off-- throwing Derek under the bus? Nicely done." Stiles said quietly as they stood away from the group.
"Yeah. Like what the fuck did I miss?" Blaze asked as he glared at both the boys.
"We texted and called you before he even showed up. You didn't answer." Scott told him before he looked at Stiles, "I didn't know what to say. I had to say something, and if he's dead, then it doesn't matter, right?"
"Derek is what?" Blaze hissed quietly.
"Yeah, it was disgusting." Stiles cringed as Blaze blinked a few times.
"Expect of he's not dead." Scott muttered before he looked at Allison who was avoiding him, "Oh, god, I totally just bit her head off."
"And she'll totally get over it. Bigger issues at hand here-- like, how do we get out alive?" Blaze rolled his eyes as he stared at Scott who shrugged.
"...But we are alive. It could've killed us already. It's like it's cornering us or something." Scott said in confusion.
"So, what? He wants to eat us all at the same time?" Stiles asked with fake enthusiasm.
"No. Derek said it wants revenge." Scott shook his head.
"Against whom?" Blaze asked him.
"Allison's family?" Scott guessed.
"Maybe that's what the text was about. Someone had to send it." Stiles assumed by they were still confused about why it brought Ryle and Blaze to the school.
"Okay, assheads! The new plan-- Stiles calls his useless dad and tells him to send someone with a gun and decent aim. Are we good with that?" Jackson said loudly.
"He's right. Tell him the truth if you have to. Just... just call him." Scott sighed in defeat. He didn't know how to help them, and he felt hopeless which Blaze saw and nudged his shoulder.
"Lighten up buttercup," Blaze whispers to him playfully, making Scott crack a smile.
"I'm not watching my dad get eaten alive." Stiles scoffed and Blaze could understand where he was coming fromโactually he couldn't. If that was his dad, he'd probably call him right away.
"All right, give me the phone," Jackson said as he tried to grab the phone from Stiles who turned around and punched him so hard, Jackson fell to the ground.
"Jackson! Are you okay?" Allison gasped as she ran over to the boy who held his bleeding nose and Ryle and Blaze smirked and fist-pumped the boy who ended up calling his father anyways knowing they needed the help.
"Dad, hey, it's me. And it's your voicemail. Look, I need you to call me back now. Like, right now. We're at the school. Dad, we're at the school." Stiles said before he hung up.
Suddenly, the doors began to bang as the alpha tried to break through the doors making them yelp as they jumped backward away from the doors. Scott pushed Blaze behind him out of instinct as Blaze gripped his arm.
"The kitchen. The door out of the kitchen leads to the stairwell." Stiles said pointing towards the door as the main doors weren't going to hold much longer.
"Which only goes up." Blaze looked at him as if he was stupid.
"Up is better than here." Stiles shrugged before the dorks burst open, making them all run up the stairs and towards the second hall, where they tried to find an unlocked door which they did in the chemistry where they all hid with a chair under the doorknob.
Blaze gripped Ryle's hand who was standing behind them as they kept quiet heating the alpha walk past the door before they all let out a sigh of relief, "Jackson, how many people can fit in your car?" Scott asked him in a hushed tone.
"Five, if someone squeezes on someone's lap."
"Five? I barely fit in the back!" Allison gaped in disbelief.
"I can fit three, more if you sit on someone's lap." Ryle nodded as Blaze looked at him with a small smirk, "Can you drive with me on your lap? That fits more."
"Shut up. Not the time." Ryle scolded quietly but had a hint of amusement in his eye.
"What about this? This leads to the roof. We can do gown the fire escape to the parking lot in, like, seconds." Scott said walking towards the door on the other side of the room, trying to keep his eyes off the two boys who were trying to find comfort in joking around. He felt a pit in his stomach as he thought about what the text had "interrupted" or seeing the pair so close together which made him annoyed with himself as he had thought of what it could be but didn't want to admit it.
"That's a deadbolt," Stiles said bluntly as he pointed at the door.
"The janitor has a key," Scott said.
"You mean his body has it." Blaze gave him a look as he stood close to him, trying not to talk in front of the others who didn't know what was truly going on.
"I can get it. I can find him by scent, by blood." Scott whispered to him.
"Well, gee, that sounds like an incredibly terrible idea. What else you got?" Stiles asked sarcastically as Blaze agreed with him.
"I'm getting the key," Scott said determined as he spoke loud enough for the others to hear who gaped at him in disbelief.
"Are you serious?" Allison stared at him in horror.
"Yeah, I agree. No fucking way." Blaze said sternly.
"Well, it's the best plan. Someone has to get the key if we wanna get out of here." Scott shrugged as Blaze scoffed. He may have never been close to the kid but after the whole werewolf started, they were closer than before, and Blaze considered him a true friend and the last thing he wanted him to do was put himself in danger with an alpha that out for him.
"You can't go out there unarmed," Ryle told the boy as he crossed his arms.
"Well, it's better than nothing." Scott sighed not seeing any other choice.
"There's gotta be something else..." Stiles shook his head.
"There is." Lydia chimed as she looked towards the cabinet filled with chemicals.
"What are we gonna do, throw acid on him?" Stiles stated as he rolled his eyes.
"No-- like a firebomb. In there is everything you need to make a self-igniting Molotov cocktail." Lydia exclaimed as Blaze smirked proudly as he nodded liking the idea.
"Self... igniting..."
"...Molotov cocktail. What? I read it somewhere." Lydia shrugged once she saw the look Jackson was giving her which made Ryle and Blaze share a look.
"We don't have a key for that, either..." Stiles trailed off as Jackson sighed before pushing his elbow into the door, making the glass break before Stiles helped him out the equipment on the table for Lydia.ย
"Scott. You can't do this. He will kill you." Blaze whispered to Scott who sighed.
"Someone had to do something and out of all of us. I'm the best chance we got. I'll be fine. We can't just wait for Stiles's dad to check his messages." Scott told him softly.
"Scott-" Blaze went to say not feeling good about this idea when Scott grabbed his arms and held them still.
"I will be fine, Blaze. Don't worry. I'm stronger than I look." Scott gave him a playful smirk that made him silently chuckle.
"I'm coming with you." Blaze blurted out as Scott shook his head, "No. absolutely not."
"Hey, if you can go. I can go. There's better if there's two of us anyways." Blaze shrugged. He was not about to sit here and allow his friend to put his life at risk for all of them.
"Blaze-" Scott went to protest.
"Shut up, Scott. I'm not letting you do this alone." Blaze said sternly, making Scott quiet for a moment as they just stared at each other. Something more eyes than one took note of.
"Lock it behind us." Scott sighed as Blaze nodded.
"Us?" Stiles gaped at Blaze in shock as did Ryle who stood up.
"Um, absolutely not. You could die. You both could die. It's bad enough, Scott is going out there." Ryle started at him in disbelief. Blaze walked over to him and pulled him over to the side as Allison tried to convince Scott not to go.
"It's safer for two of us two to go and find the key than one. One person is usually useless against a big guy like Derek fucking Hale." Blaze whispered as Ryle shook his head.
"Blaze, don't go. This is insane. You can't do this." Ryle told him as his hands started to shake feeling his anxiety rising which made Blaze grab his hands firmly.
"Ryle, look at me." Blaze whispered making Ryle gulp as he looked into his soft green eyes and took a deep breath, "Everyone in this room is someone waiting for them to come home too. Let's be honest, I don't. My parents are fucking assholes so if anything happens to me, no one will care."
"I'll care." Ryle choked out with slight tears in his eyes as Blaze looked at him for a moment as if he's finally realized just how much he liked Ryle Thorn, before kissing him hard.
Pulling back, Blaze rested his hands on his neck and spoke softly, "I can't let Scott do this alone. I can't just sit here especially with Jackson over there being an asshole."
Ryle chuckled slightly which made Blaze crack a smile, "I'll be fine but Lydia is currently trying not to freak out, so I need you to be there for her while I'm gone. She's going to need it and when we get out of here, we should go back to the dating conversation."
"Oh, know you want to have that?" Ryle quietly laughed as Blaze grinned and nodded, "That is if you still up for it?"
"That is if you come back to me." Ryle shot back at him, making Blaze smirk before he pressed his lips back to the now calmer boy's lips.
"Always," Blaze muttered before Ryle sighed and nodded.
"Blaze. Come on." Scott cut in softly not wanting to interrupt their little scene which he avoided looking at, unlike Lydia who had finished making the self-igniting firebomb and had watched them with a cheesy smile.
Blaze sent Ryle a reassuring smile as he squeezed his hand before he and Scott left, allowing Stiles to lock the door behind them.
"Are you sure about this?" Blaze asked Scott who was holding the firebomb, looking anxious as they walked down the halls.
"Yeah. Come on, this way." Scot said as they turned a corner and started walking towards the gym.
"This is creepy as shit," Blaze muttered as the silence seemed to be so loud and the lights that dimmed in the gym made Blaze feel uneasy.
"Over here," Scott said quietly as he walked toward the bleachers where he could sense the janitor's blood. The pair shared a look before stepping inside and walking underneath them. They paused when they heard creaking and looked around before they continued making their way.
They looked around for any signs of the body but didn't find anything until a sudden drop of blood dropped on Blaze's face making him flinch and wipe it off. Scott and Blaze looked up above them and saw the janitor's body hanging from the bleachers, making them gulp.
"Hold this," Scott said handing Blaze the firebomb before he stepped onto the metal poles and reached up to grab the keys which were just inches away from his grip.
"Um. Scott." Blaze said as they suddenly heard the bleachers start close making them panic, "Grab them!"
"I got them." Scott snatched them before both of them started to run out of the bleachers, rolling out of them just in time for them to fully close.
Blaze and Scott looked up to see the alpha across the gym, staring back at them making them stand up, "Come on." Scott muttered as he started to run at them.
Blaze looked down at the glass in his hand before he throws it but all it did was smash into pieces making them gap in disbelief, "That stupid fucking idiot, Jackson." Blaze snapped angrily. Of course, even in a life-or-death situation, Jackson couldn't put his pride aside to admit he had no idea what he was doing.
"Damn it," Scott said as he grabbed Blaze's wrist and turned around to leave when the alpha grabbed them by the ankles and threw them across the gym.
Blaze was thrown into the closed bleachers, where he smashed his head off the corner of the wooden edge before he fell to the floor. Black dots covered his vision, as he tried to stay awake, but it wasn't enough as his eyes fluttered shut, the last thing he heard was a loud howl before he fell unconscious.

"Are you sure, you're, okay?" Ryle asked for the third time as he stood in front of the open ambulance where Blaze was sitting after the police had shown up and got them all out of the school.
"I'm fine, Ryle. Just a few stitches." Blaze nodded tiredly. His head hurt from everything that's happened this evening and all he wanted to do was go home and take a 24-hour nap.
"You scared the hell out of me." Ryle chuckled slightly as he thought about when the police had said that Blaze had been hurt, he automatically assumed the worst.
Blaze grabbed his hands as Ryle stood in between his legs and glanced up at him, "I'm completely fine. A small headache and maybe a concussion but I'm fine. We are all fine."
Ryle slowly nodded as he moved to sit down beside Blaze who rubbed his hands together, "My mom is on her way. Do you need a drive home?"
"My parents are probably sleeping and have zero fucking clue on what's going on so yeah, probably." Blaze nodded with a sigh.
"You can always stay the night if you don't want to go home." Ryle offered with a soft smile which Blaze returned.
"I would but I snuck out this evening and this. I don't want to fucking hear them more than I already am going to." Blaze shook his head.
"Alright." Ryle nodded as Blaze turned to glance at him.
"So..." Blaze said having a small cheeky smile on his face that confused Ryle.
"So?"
"I believe I promised you a certain conversation," Blaze smirked as Ryle shook his head and laughed.
"You want to do that, right here? Right now?" Ryle asked amused as Blaze shrugged and nodded.
"No different than having it tomorrow. I used to hate the thought of dating or anything that bullshit but maybe it's not so bad." Blaze smirked at the boy who couldn't stop the grin on his face, "And truth be told, I had no idea what I was doing with you but everything that had happened tonight, I think I know what I want."
Ryle looked at Blaze with a raised eyebrow, "And what's that?"
"I want to be with you. Together, but I can't promise I'll be any good at it." Blaze said truthfully. He had no idea what dating meant or what is supposed to happen during that period (God, did he sound like a virgin), but he wanted to try.
"Will you try?" Ryle asked him softly as Blaze nodded in his head, making him smile, "Then that's all I care about."
"Can I ask you something?" Blaze asked, making Ryle raise an eyebrow.
"One of our questions?" He asked playfully as Blaze chuckled and nodded.
"I've always been curious but what was your first impression of me? Did you hate me like everyone else?" Blaze asked curiously but had a small smile on his face.
Ryle licked his lips as he looked away for a moment, "I noticed you the first time we met in our entrepreneurship class in our freshman year when you had asked me my name and introduced yourself to me, and my first impression was that you were kind and hot as fuck. But now that I know you more, I know your kind of a dick, but you're still hot as fuck."
Ryle and Blaze laughed, "Okay, your turn." Ryle gave him a teasing look.
Blaze nodded, "When you walked into that classroom, I thought you were in the wrong class. I thought there is no way this man is in my class and the same age as me. You had nice eyes too."
"Such a romantic." Ryle teased as Blaze pinched his hip, making him chuckle.
Meanwhile, with Scott and Allison, the latter was trying to understand everything that had happened to fight but she knew she wouldn't get an answer.
"I'm gonna get a new phone tomorrow morningโI'm gonna get a new phone and I'm gonna give you a call." Scott tried to tell her, but Allison wasn't having it.
"Scott! Don't." Allison said with tears in her eyes, "Be honest with me? For once, just tell me the truth?"
Scott looked at her for a moment as Allison sigh, "Do you like me?"
"Of course, I like you." Scott laughed in disbelief at the question but Allison shook her head.
"That's not what I meant. Tonight, all the lies you've been doing to me, but I can finally see that you've been lying more to yourself." Allison exclaimed as a tear fell down her cheek. She didn't want to lose Scott, but she couldn't trust him, and deep down she knew, Scott didn't fully like her, not in the way she liked him.
"What are you talking about?" Scott asked in confusion, but he had a feeling that he knew where this was going.
"You don't feel for me what you feel for him," Allison said sadly as he glanced behind him, making him turn his head to see Blaze who was kissing and laughing with Ryle making his face fall.
"All-" Scott said as his own eyes glossed over.
"It's okay. I'm not mad. I know you can't help who you like but I can't be with you when I don't trust you and know that you have stronger feelings for someone else. I'm glad to have given us a shot but let's be honest, it was never going to last, so, please. Don't call. Figure out your stuff because I know that hurts like a bitch seeing him like someone else. Trust me, I know the feeling." Allison cried as she turned around and walked away.
Scott took a deep breath as he tried to blink his tears away. He knew she was right. Everyone was right. He did like Blaze, and he figured that out the moment the alpha made him lose control and the memory of his phone call with Blaze kept him in control.
"Are you okay?" Stiles said softly from behind him as he saw the tears in his best friends' eyes.
"I'm fine. I have to go." Scott glanced at Blaze who looked happier than they'd ever seen him, making him turn around and walk away, not wanting anyone to see him so emotional. He didn't know exactly what he felt for Blaze, as he said he was young and inexperienced with the whole feeling thing but whatever it is, he knew it was a feeling he hated and wanted to go away.
