오십삼. Uncertainty.
Kaito pulled Sunoo into a much more quiet and empty hallway of the office, the pink-haired boy just letting himself get dragged anywhere. Kaito may not know how Sunoo feels but it was definitely discomfort and gosh did he want to punch Ni-ki.
After all the things Ni-ki had said such as 'Stay away from Sunoo' or 'Don't lay a finger on Sunoo' or even 'Don't hurt Sunoo' when Ni-ki himself was hurting the boy. He said all those yet goes out his way to smile flirtatiously at other people.
Sunoo took a deep breath, showing a bit of a smile to reassure Kaito he was fine. Although he appreciates what Kaito did back there, he doesn't really want Kaito to see him sulk over someone who clearly has hurt his heart.
"You okay?" Kaito asked as he watched Sunoo wipe the last drop of tears by the sides of his under eyes.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be? Ni-ki isn't mine, he can do anything he wants with anyone pfft." Sunoo snorted, trying to lighten up the mood when Kaito was just seriously concerned.
"You like Ni-ki that much.." Kaito mumbled. Sunoo's dull eyes turned away, in an attempt to not make the atmosphere even more depressing. Sunoo doesn't exactly know how to respond to that. Because if he said he does, it would seem like he's desperate. But if he denied, he'd be lying, and Kaito would see right through his white lie easily.
Kaito must have thought Sunoo really did make a mistake back then and is here to fix it. Although it kinda pained him because the younger was just so intriguing to him that knowing Sunoo likes Ni-ki without Sunoo having to even tell him, he still wanted to be there to comfort Sunoo, as a friend.
"I know we just ate but, do you wanna go get ice cream? It cheers me up all the time so I thought maybe it could cheer you up too!" Kaito sounded as cheerful as ever, making Sunoo smile warmly. Kaito has been nothing but nice to him and it feels like he's found comfort in him as well, a new great friend.
"Thank you, Kaito, but maybe later. I have work to do, do you have any meetings left today?" Sunoo asked with his foxy-like smile, drowning Kaito in nothing but butterflies.
"My work for today is done. I don't have a lot of people to meet up with so you're the only one I can seem to ask.." Kaito chuckled nervously, not wanting Sunoo to think of him as too much of an introvert.
"I promise to hang out with you next time, I'll let you know when I'm free so that next time, it's my turn to treat you!" Sunoo giggled in response, catching Kaito with flushed cheeks.
"C-Can I at least uh.. get your number?" Kaito asked whilst head tilted another direction in order to avoid looking at Sunoo right in the eye.
"Of course." Sunoo took Kaito's phone in his hand, swiftly typing in his number as Kaito watched him in anticipation.
"There you go, don't send me any weird messages."
"No promises, pretty boy."
-
"Alright, bye!" Sunoo waved to his fellow coworker, fixing his desk followed by grabbing his bag and pushing his revolving chair back. In no time he was in a bright mood considering the fact that he had received his first paycheck! It was a lot and he means A LOT more than what his convenience store job gave him and he can't wait to bring a present home for his mom, maybe buy himself and Emi a meal and some drinks.
Sunoo yelped when the sudden loud sound of thunder had struck from the sky, soon then, the rain started appearing. Sunoo watched the rain get heavier and heavier by the second through the glass, sighing. He hadn't brought an umbrella since this morning it was shining.
Sunoo thought maybe he could just call a cab, exiting the office whilst taking a bit of step back in order for his shoes not to get wet. He peeked and saw other people waiting for a cab like him, as everyone that passed by stopped at them and not him.
Sighing yet again, he had thought maybe he should just take the bus. The bus stop was only a few walks away so maybe he could rush there with his coat over his head and wait for the vehicle that would take him home.
But scratch that thought out when a car stopped in front of him.
"Get in."
The windows rolled down, making Sunoo's breath hitch.
"One-"
"Okay okay, sheesh.." Sunoo rolled his eyes, opening the passenger's seat's door to meet eyes with Ni-ki. The younger just looked away, the beeping sound of the car audible as Sunoo immediately put on the seatbelt.
As soon as Ni-ki started driving, Sunoo had nothing else to do but rest his head slightly on the glass windows and watch the rain trickle hard.
It wasn't long till the silence started killing him though. Why would Ni-ki offer a ride when he wouldn't even bother to initiate a conversation?
"S-So.. Hana.." Sunoo spoke nervously, playing with the tip of his fingers in fear of Ni-ki just staying quiet. And he did. At least he tried his best..
"What about her?" Okay thank you, the man finally spoke.
"Oh, I was just saying.. since when did you two get close?" Sunoo asked, gulping up a lump in his throat.
"We're just working together." Ni-ki blandly replied, keeping his eyes on the road and not sparing Sunoo a glance.
Working together?
Yeah right.
"She seemed nice to fix your tie earlier.." Sunoo crept up a small smile, making Ni-ki mentally smirk mixed with a grin. He found joy seeing Sunoo like this. Ni-ki just hummed in response, making Sunoo shrink. His attempt to make conversation fails yet again.
He was at the tip of the iceberg and couldn't hold it any longer.
"What's wrong with you?" Sunoo complained, taking Ni-ki by surprise.
"What do you mean?" The younger blandly replied, and it made Sunoo make steam come out of his ears. How he's acting so obvious is so frustrating, annoying really.
"Why are you ignoring me and then offer me a ride, pick a struggle.." Sunoo huffed, crossing his arms and looking the other way to avoid eye contact cause he can't really face the one driving right now.
Ni-ki gulped, thinking of what he should say. Its obvious Sunoo is confused by his actions and it's exactly what Ni-ki wanted.
"Ignoring you how?"
"A-Are you serious?!" Sunoo almost screamed, gripping the door handle.
"Ever since we came back from that Vietnamese restaurant the other day, you're so quiet like I don't even exist in your world anymore. Stop confusing me, either notice me or leave me alone." Sunoo took the opportunity of the red spotlight to grab his bag and step out of the car, making Ni-ki's eyes widen a bit. Of course, he wasn't expecting that.
Sunoo walked through the cars, walking straight to the sidewalk with only a few people. He turned to look at Ni-ki's car once again, huffing to continue leaving.
Sunoo himself didn't even know why he stepped out. His house was a bit close already, maybe he was just so mad that it drove him to where he is right now. Walking down the streets with heavy stomps and a frustrated face.
"That asshole.." Sunoo mumbled, sucking on his teeth before dropping his hands on his head to ruffle them angrily.
"Drinking with the hyungs would be so great right now but.." Sunoo shouted from frustration, causing everyone around him to look. All he wanted right now was a drink and someone to tell about Ni-ki's annoying movements and how it's making Sunoo want to burn himself. Too bad his friends are in a whole other country.
Sunoo took a deep breath with a lazy face, walking a few steps till he reached the convenience store.
"Good evening- Sunoo?" Emi was greeted with a dull-looking Sunoo entering the store, dropping his bag on the counter.
"Are you wearing an s-suit?!" Emi laughed, since she's never seen Sunoo dress so formal, of course, it was a surprise.
"Shut up and just get me a cup of noodles and alcohol if you have."
-
Emi placed the alcohol and cup noodles on the table Sunoo was sitting outside on, him immediately digging in.
"Slow down, is that what you guys do in Korea or.." Emi took a seat in front of him, raising an eyebrow.
"What happened to your work? Why are you suddenly eating and drinking convenience store food? What about fancy meals with your boss?" She asked, crossing her arms as she heard a hum from him.
"I eat when I'm frustrated."
"And what is it about this time?" She sounded as if he's angry all the time. He is.
"That Ni-ki guy I told you about. I hate him. He makes me confused. Ignoring me then offers me a ride, I'd quit at this point."
"So why don't you?"
"You know how much I want to help mother, and..there's always someone who makes me feel better." Sunoo smiled whilst gulping the noodles down his throat.
"You made a new friend?" Emi smiled, seeing Sunoo's face light up in Joy.
"His name's Kaito. He's not from the office actually, he's the CEO we're partnering with. He often visits, he and Ni-ki are even childhood friends." Emi gasped, placing his elbows on the table with squinted eyes.
"That's a good story. A love triangle even. Ex-boyfriend, that's Ni-ki, the childhood friend slash new guy, that's Kaito, and you." Sunoo rolled his eyes as Emi was too busy squealing, opening the cap of the alcohol.
"So, are you gonna settle for this Kaito guy and leave Ni-ki?"
"No! Kaito's a friend, Ni-ki's..a different case."
"Don't tell me..you still like Ni-ki..?" Emi was gonna throw hands if he says yes. Everything that Sunoo says seems as if this Ni-ki guy was doing it on purpose. To hurt him.
"No- I don't know- I hate this question."
"YOU DO!"
"I don't! At least I think I don't.." Sunoo bit his lip, smiling before sliding the paper cup of noodles on the trash can.
"I'll know when I do and don't. For now, I'm mad at him. He makes my heart..ache." Sunoo sucked on his lips, pouting a bit.
"Ah! By the way, Heeseung accepted my friend request." Emi giggled, making Sunoo smile.
"Really? Wow, didn't know Heeseung hyung would do that..have you talked to him?"
"No, I don't know what to say!"
"Just say 'Hi, I'm Sunoo's friend' something like that." Emi scoffed, knowing well she shouldn't introduce herself as his friend's friend.
"I guess we both have love related problems.." She mumbled, her head shotting up when Sunoo's phone dinged.
"Who's that?" Sunoo hummed at Emi's question, turning his phone the other way to see a notification from an unknown number. He slid the notification open, seeing a flattering message.
Hi pretty boy
It's Kaito ;)
You wanna go to the amusement park tomorrow? You promised to hang out with me:(
Let me know if ur free ^^
Sunoo gulped a lump, flickering his eyes from shock of the message. He didn't expect Kaito to message so soon, but he really didn't mind it.
"It's Kaito. He's asking if I have time to hang out with him tomorrow."
"Well, do you?"
"A few hours maybe, yeah."
"THEN GO!" Emi stood up from her seat and kept a close eye for Sunoo to send the 'yes' message. The younger typed, the one behind him anticipating.
I have time tomorrow :)
Emi squealed, shaking Sunoo's shoulders back and forth from excitement.
"You have to wear something nice tomorrow."
"He's just a friend!"
"What kind of friend asks you on a date?"
"IT'S NOT A DATE!"
