Chapter 4: Shopping or Torture
Bea was in the living room of the Toretto's house, watching TV on the couch as Mia had sat beside her, wanting to spend time with the little girl. Mia was doing homework, Bea had her gaze focus on the movie that was playing.
Mia would occasionally look up from her work, to look at Bea who had not said a whole word while she sat there on the couch. Mia was surprised to find our that Bea was Brian's niece and not his daughter, considering how well they resemble each other.
Though it did not matter to Mia if Bea was Brian's daughter or not. Bea only had one adult figure in her life and that was her uncle Brian, not even her mother who hadn't try to contact Bea ever since she dropped her off at Brian.
But Bea knew why her mother could not reach out to her, it was for Bea's own safety if they never spoke to each other ever again. And sadly Bea was okay with that, if it meant that both she and her mother were safe and still alive and breathing, she was okay with never being contacted by her.
Though it may hurt her, she was happy she got to know another family member. Even though it had been for only a few months, she felt close to her uncle Brian, but not close enough to tell him her darkest secrets.
Bea felt Mia's burning gaze."Is something bothering you?
Mia looked at her surprised, chuckling. "No, um, I was wondering if you were hungry?"
Bea looked at Mia. "Well now that you mentioned it, I am a little hungry."
"The other's are still working in the garage," Mia said. "So how bout we go and get some food." Bea smiled slightly. "I know a great place where they serve the best milkshakes."
Bea jumped up from the couch. "You had me at food, let's go get some milkshakes."
Mia laughed as she stood, putting down her homework, she went to go grab her purse.
Bea was by the front door, waiting patiently.
Mia came back as both girls headed out the door.
-------
Both Bea and Mia walked down the street, passing many stores.
Mia had decided to take the bus, so she and Bea could walk around and browse through stores.
Currently they were at a clothing store, one of Mia's favorite places to go and shop for her clothes.
Bea frowned slightly as she wasn't a fan of shopping or dressing up, though seeing the excited look on Mia's face, she was reluctant at first but gave in just to make the older girl happy.
Bea watch as Mia went from one place to the other inside the door, coming back to the younger girl with a handful of clothes.
"Try these on," Mia told her.
Bea raised her eyebrows at her. "I thought we were suppose to be getting food."
"And we will," Mia told her. "As soon as you try these on."
Bea sighed once she saw the pleading look Mia was giving her, taking the handful of clothes from Mia, heading towards the dressing room.
Bea stared at her reflection in the mirror once she put on one of the outfits Mia had given her.
Tilting her head as she did a little twirl smiling.
Bea walked out of the dressing room, Mia gasped, smiling.
"Well, how do I look?" Bea asked.
"You look so cute," Mia gushed. "Do a little twirl." Bea sighed doing a twirl for Mia's sake. "We are most definitely buying that outfit." Mia gesture towards the dressing room. "Go try on the others."
"I'll try on more," Bea said. "But only if you also try on some clothes." Mia looked at her confused. "It's not fair that your spending money on me, you should also spend some on yourself too."
"Don't be silly," Mia told her. "I have enough outfits in my closet, I don't need anything else."
"Then why spend money on me?" Bea asked. "You don't even know me."
"Because," Mia said. "I always wanted a little sister to play dress up with while growing up. And I had no one, so I thought it might be fun just to do something fun and normal for once."
Bea tilts her head. "Your life isn't normal?"
"Nope," Mia told her. "It never was to begin with."
"I know what you mean," Bea told her. "My life also isn't normal, I had a pretty terrible childhood."
Mia looked at her confused. "What do you mean?"
Bea shook her head. "Nothing, just forget I ever said anything. I'll go and try on the other outfits you picked out."
Bea went back inside the dressing room, taking of her shirt.
Mia who was outside the dressing room, saw another pretty outfit for Bea, goes over to the rack, picking up the clothing, smiling.
From her backside, Bea's back could be seen with a long scar down her spine.
Mia who stood outside the dressing room, opens the curtain. Bea who was distracted didn't notice Mia who slightly gasped upon seeing Bea's scar.
Bea who looked up at the mirror saw Mia in the reflection, immediately turning around.
"Oh my God," Mia said. Bea quickly put on her shirt she wore to the store. "What happened?"
"Nothing," Bea lied.
Mia gave her a look. "That's not nothing, that scars goes all the way down your back."
"It's nothing," Bea told her. "I don't want to talk about it."
Mia was confused, but she didn't want to pressure Bea into telling her if she wasn't ready to speak.
"You don't have to tell me anything if your not comfortable with sharing," Mia told her. Bea looked at her surprised but grateful. Mia held up the outfit she had picked out for Bea. "I saw this and thought you would look cute in it. I'll leave it here for you to try on."
Bea nods her head. "Thanks." Mia gave a small smile, turning to walkaway. "Mia." Mia stopped walking, turning to Bea. "Please don't my uncle Brian. He also doesn't know."
Mia nods her head. "It'll be our little secret."
Bea smiled at Mia closed the curtains.
------
Bea and Mia had returned to the Toretto house, with there hands full.
Bea had carried the shopping bags, while Mia carried the food and drinks.
They made there way to the Toretto garage, as Bea had dropped the bags off in Mia's room.
"We brought food," Bea announced.
Everyone had stopped what they were doing, looking at the two young girls.
Brian made his way towards Bea. "I was wondering where you went. Thought you might have snuck off."
"Mia took me out to shop for clothes," Bea told him. Her face turned sour. "She made me try on dresses."
Brian chuckles looking from Bea to Mia. "Did she now?"
"Yes," Bea answered. "You should know that I hate wearing dresses."
Letty walked over. "I see I'm not the only that doesn't like shopping with Mia."
"Hey," Mia said, offended.
"Trust that will be the first and last time I go shopping with her," Bea said.
Letty chuckles. "I like you already Bea, I think were gonna be good friends."
Dom walked closer. "Now this can't be good."
"What?" Brian asked.
"Letty and your niece being friends," Dom said. "Now that's just chaos waiting to happen."
"Enough jibber jabber," Bea told them. "I'm starving, so can we please eat now?"
Everyone chuckles as Mia passed out the food.
