After they left the Wheeler house, Max had asked Steve to take her to the trailer park. Asher knew it was so she could leave the letters for her family, and to try and see her mom one last time, but when Max came back to the car, she was acting weird. Asher knew that something had happened, even if Max didn't want to admit it to anyone. Asher wanted to help her, they all did, but they couldn't help Max if she didn't talk to them and it was really staring to piss Asher off. So, after leaving the trailer park, Max had directed Steve to the grave yard. Asher was surprised that Max had wrote a letter to Billy, seeing that he's dead, but he had just guessed that Max was wanting to say everything that she's wanted to say to Billy. Even though he's dead, there is still a chance that Billy might hear it. Well, that's what Asher believed that max was thinking. He wouldn't really know, because again, Max doesn't talk about anything anymore. So, when Max gets out of the car, without saying a word, Asher also gets out.

"Max, I need to talk to you" Asher says as he follows Max.

"Ash, now really isn't the best time" Max says with a sigh, but stops walking to turn and face Asher anyways "Just wait in the car."

"Look, I can tell something happened back at the trailer park with your mom" Asher says, making Max look down at her feet "Was it Vecna?"

"I'm fine" Max says with a tight-lipped smile, looking back up at her ex boyfriend "Well, I'm as fine as anyone hurdling towards a gruesome death can be."

"You need to stop this" Asher tells Max with a nervous laugh, making her look confused.

"Stop what?" Max asks Asher, making him shake his head.

"Pushing everyone away from you. Max, you have so many people here who care about you, who are willing to do anything to make sure that whatever happened to Chrissy and Fred doesn't happen to you to, but we can't help you if you keep pushing us away" Asher says before getting the letter out of his jeans pocket "I don't need this letter, Max, I just need you to talk to me. These past few months, all you've done is push me away but I'm still here, wanting to be there for you, and even if you keep pushing me away, I'm still going to be here for you until the day I die. You want to know why? Because I love you. You might act like you don't need anyone but yourself, but I can see that you need us more than you think, you just don't want to put all of your problems on us, but that's what we're here for. What I'm here for. I-I just don't want you going through this alone, Max, I don't do that to someone I love."

"Love?" Max asks in shock.

"Yeah" Asher says with a sigh "I love you, Max, okay? I want to be there for you. Just let me be there for you."

"Just wait by the car, okay?" Max says to Asher, making him sigh "I won't be long" She says before walking away from Asher.

"Did you just do what I think you did?" Dustin asks Asher as the sixteen year old walks back over to the car.

"Yeah, and I think I've fucking ruined everything" Asher says with an aggravated sigh, feeling stressed.

"I don't think you have" Dustin reassures Asher "She still likes you, even if she doesn't show it."

"Yeah, well I told her that I love her and all she said to me is wait in the car" Asher tells Dustin with a small smile, making Dustin look at him in shock.

"You told her you love her?" Dustin asks Asher, still in shock, making Asher nod his head "You never say that to anyone."

"You told Max you love her?" Lucas asks, overhearing the conversation, also catching the attention of Steve.

"Yes, I told Max that I love her" Asher says to Lucas as he rolls his eyes before looking over at Dustin "What did you think I said?"

"I thought you were telling her how you don't want things to end on bad terms if she's going to die or something" Dustin says with a shrug "I didn't think you'd go with the whole I love you speech."

"Well, I obviously didn't mean to tell her that I love her" Asher says to Dustin "It sorta just... slipped out."

"Slipped out?" Steve asks with a scoff "Dude, you don't just say that accidentally."

"Yeah, well I do" Asher says to Steve with a glare "Yeah, I love her, but I wasn't supposed to tell her that. We're not together anymore and we're not getting back together. She has made that perfectly clear. There was no point in telling her that I love her when she's never going to get back together with me."

"Maybe you're not trying hard enough" Lucas says with a shrug "I know what Max is like when it comes to relationships. It's hard to win her back."

"Well, Sinclair, how do I get her back?" Asher asks Lucas, just wanting him to get to the point.

"Normally I would buy her something and apologise until she eventually took me back" Lucas says with a shrug, making Asher roll his eyes.

"Well, I've been apologizing for the past three months and I don't have enough money to buy her anything" Asher says with a sigh "I actually don't have any money. I'm broke."

"Then do something else" Lucas tells him "Do something you know she'd love."

"Like what?" Asher asks, making Lucas stay silent "See, it's impossible."

"All right, it's been long enough" Steve says, getting sick of Asher's whining.

"Steve, give her some time" Asher says to him "It's her brother."

"I have, all right?" Steve says as he continues to walk towards Max "I'm calling it. If she wants to get a lawyer and get you to beat my ass, she can" He says before he walks over to Max.

"Jesus Christ, this is going to end badly" Asher mutters.

"Ash, get over here! Now!" Steve shouts, making Asher run over to see that Max is sat still, with her eyes rolling to the back of her head.

"What's happening to her?" Asher asks as he kneels down on the other side of Max, shaking her shoulder.

"I just came over and she was like this" Steve mentions as he makes eye contact with Asher "Do you think it's--"

"Lucas, Dustin! Get your asses over here!" Asher shouts as Dustin and Lucas both run over to them "I think it's happening."

"What's happening?" Dustin asks Asher as Steve is shouting at Max to wake up.

"The wizard thingy from your stupid game" Asher tells Dustin, forgetting Vecna's name "What else do you think?"

"Oh shit" Dustin says as Asher continues to shake Max.

"Come on, Max. Wake up" Asher says to Max "I can't lose you, Max. Please, wake the fuck up!"

"Call Nancy and Robin! Go!" Steve yells at Dustin, pushing him to get up and run over to the car.

"Wake up Max! Come on! Don't die on me now!" Asher shouts at Max "Can you hear me you stubborn little shit? Come on, wake up!" He shouts as Dustin runs over with Max's cassettes and Walkman.

"What is this?" Lucas asks as Dustin throws it all onto the group in front of Max.

"A song. What's her favourite song?" Dustin asks, making the three of them look over at Asher.

"Running Up That Hill. Kate Bush" Asher quickly replies "She listens to it all of the time. Why?"

"It's too much to explain right now" Dustin yells as he finds the cassette tape for Running Up That Hill, putting it in the Walkman and sticking the headphones on Max's head before he starts playing it.

"Dude, explain what the fuck you're doing right now" Asher tells Dustin.

"Just trust me, okay?" Dustin yells "It will work" He says right before Max starts floating up in the air.

"Max!" Asher yells before looking at the other three standing with him "What's happening to her?"

"You think we know?" Steve asks Asher.

"Max, come on, please don't die on me" Asher mutters before Max ends up falling to the ground, with Asher catching her in the progress.

"Ash" Max says in shock while looking at him.

"Yeah it's me" Asher says before Max hugs him "You're okay. I've got you. God, I thought I lost you."

"I'm still here" Max says while hyperventilating "I'm still here."

"Yeah, you are" Asher says as he calms Max down "And you're not leaving anytime soon."
