Jonah and Tate are basically best friends. They met in high school and even tho their start was a bit rough, now they are inseparable. I guess that we can thank Friday for their friendship and let me tell you why...

It wall started when Jonah texted Tate and asked her to hang out, she replied with a simple yes and the two spent the day together. Tate knows that Jonah loves coffee so why not go to a coffee shop? The place was quiet, peaceful and a bit vintage but both of them love it. They ordered 2 coffees and some pastries and then sat at a random table. They just enjoyed each other company and they knew something was blossoming between them. It wasn't just a one-time thing, they kept doing it every Friday. And now it was their thing. Jonah always arrives at 4 pm at Tate's house then they go to the cafe and stay there till closing time. After Jonah walks Tate home and they would see each other next Friday. The thing went on for a couple of months and the owner of the cafe was basically used to the presence of the 2 teenagers in his shop. But one day something changed... and the few kinda split up and let me ask you... what is Tom without Jerry? Peanut butter without jelly? Exactly... nothing...

Tate POV
It's Friday today but Jonah told me that he can't hang out cuz he has to go on a date with Demi, his new girlfriend so I decided to go to the cafe alone. Yeah, now he's taken and I guess that he doesn't have time for me anymore.
Once I walked inside the coffee shop, John, the owner waved at me and I waved back. I sat at our usual table and after a few minutes, he came to get my order.
"Hey, Tate. Why all alone today?" He asked kindly.
"He got a girlfriend so... today is just me. Can I have my usual?" I asked politely.
John nodded and then left. I was lost in my thoughts when he came back with my coffee.
"Here you have love"
"Thanks" I got a sip of the drink.
"What is Tate thinking about uh?" He asked me and sat in the nearest chair.
"Idk just random stuff" I replied, still a bit lost in my head.
"You know I've been there too and I guess someone is in love" he said pointing at my heart.
"And exactly who is supposed to be my crush?" I asked sarcastic cuz there is no crush.
"Even the walls know that is Jonah" what?! No no, he's far off.
"John he has a girlfriend" I said seriously.
"But that doesn't stop your heart from loving him" he said and right then Jonah walked in with Demi.
"Jonah! My boy!" John said, getting up from the chair and before my best friend could have noticed me, I was out of the shop.
I got my drink in my jeans and I just thought: am I gonna lose him? Was I in love with him? Then I looked at him from the window shop and got more confused. That day I just went home and did nothing all day.

Time skip -Saturday-
I woke up at 11 am as usual and got ready to meet my best friends for lunch. Today I felt really confident so I decided to wear something out of my comfort zone. I put on a pair of boyfriend jeans with little white pearls on them. A black turtle neck shirt with a warm coat on and then a pair of heel boots. Finally, I grabbed my black backpack and left the house but when I opened the door I was him, Jonah.
"Hey" he said shyly.
I said hi to him while locking the door with my keys.
"Yesterday I bailed you. I'm sorry" why he's saying sorry?
"Don't worry. You have a girlfriend now so you are busy but it's ok" I said and it was the truth, it is really ok.
"Well, I still want to talk so I'll walk you to wherever you are going" I nodded to him.
The first few minutes were a bit embarrassing and it never happened between us cuz normally we are the awkward ones.
"Emm... I have to say it. Going to get coffee with Demi is not the same as going with you" he started and I was confused by that.
"Why?" Was all I could say.
"Idk. It's like the whole mood with her is not right but I know that I like her" he replied. With that, we arrived at my meeting point.
"I have to go now. I'm meeting with the girls so..." I said awkwardly. Jesus why I'm so complicated?!
"Ah ok... well maybe we can meet up later so I can make up for yesterday" I agreed.

Time skip -afternoon-
During my lunch with the girls I didn't talk about Jonah, just cuz I didn't want to always think about him...I guess. I had a great time with them and we just spent some good quality time together so I was happy. And now I have to see Jonah. Idk what to think. Why I'm so nervous to hang out with him? We are best friends so I shouldn't be worried... whatever.
I arrived at the coffee shop and he was already there, at our usual table. I walked in and sat in the empty chair.
"Hey" I said to him.
"I want to break up" I was confused.
"I wasn't to break up with Demi" he looked in my eyes. What am I supposed to say?
"Emm...I-" I was stuck.
"No sorry... I-I was...idk" I looked at him with kind eyes.
"I'm sorry it didn't work out with her" I said.
"It's ok. I'll tell her tomorrow when we'll hang out" he simply said.
After a bit of silence, I decided to ask "but why?"
He got a sip of his coffee then answered "idk... I just feel like it's the best thing to do. Maybe she was not the right one"
"Well if you're happy, I'm happy" and I really meant it.
Idk if I like Jonah but he's my best friend and I know that I can't lose him.
