Unfit for Service

The flight back to the Black Zero was silent. Faora was regaining consciousness still even then, she simply looked at (Y/N) with a knowing smirk. The first conflict of this War had ended, arguably in victory for Earth and Kal-El. As they drove the invaders back and held their ground against all odds. Throughout the whole flight, (Y/N) kept his eyes glued to the metal floor. The faces of the Earthlings were stuck in his mind, floating around like a haunting nightmare. The looks of fear, the screams the burning, it made the young Kryptonian sick to his stomach. Only the deep sound of Nam-Ek breathing could be heard throughout the whole flight. The troops regrouped with General Zod aboard the Black Zero's bridge.

"What happened down there?" the lead scientist Jax-Ur inquired.

"He exposed a temporary weakness" the General replied as all troops marched onto the bridge.

"It is of little consequence" Jax-Ur replied. "Because I have located the Codex" he stated, shocking all who heard it. (Y/N)'s eyes widened in shock, fearing the worst. "It was never in the capsule" a screen behind Jax showed the skull which previously housed the Codex. "Jor-El took the Codex, the DNA of a billion people and he bonded it with his son's individual cells. All of Krypton's heirs, living, hidden inside one refugees body" he finished.

'Must've acquired this through the blood he sampled from Kal-El' (Y/N) thought to himself as he saw his father look towards the yellow sun. (Y/N) could only admit to himself, there was something relaxing about this sun, his body felt at peace soaking in its glow.

"Does Kal-El need to be alive for us to extract the Codex from his cells?" the General asked.

"No"

(Y/N) took in a sharp breath through his nose, as he knew what his father's next step will be. And he needed to stop him.

"Brainiac" he called out, and a pattern of three circles appeared on the screens. The AI that was originally designed to catalogue information, but had been reprogrammed. "Release the-" Dru was cut off mid sentence.

"Father" (Y/N) accidentally yelled slightly loudly so all of the bridge would know of his objection. Dru turned around looking down at his son as the General was elevated.

"Major, you speak out of turn" General Zod replied harshly, any child would know the tone of voice this father was putting on. "You have something to add, do you wish to give the command?" he jokingly asked, causing a few smirks to creep up throughout the room.

"I beg you, to reconsider this. These Earthlings, they did not ask for this war" (Y/N) tried to state, taking a step forward and he could feel every solider tense up ready to act in defence of their leader.

"You speak for them?" Dru responded, placing both arms behind his back. "You were on their planet but what, a few hours and yet you feel pity for them?"

"I do, I have seen the look of fear. The doom we spread with only a fraction of our troops, they are children, families, billions on that planet and you intent to slaughter them all!" (Y/N) yelled, stomping a foot into the ground creating a loud metallic clang.

"There is too much of your mother in you. I do this-" Dru stepped forward, placing a hand on his sons shoulder. "For your future, for that all of Krypton may have a future, that our people may live again" he reasoned.

Shocking Dru, (Y/N) angrily shook his shoulder getting the hand off of it. "A Krypton built on bones and ash, that isn't what I fought for. You speak of genocide, the slaughter of billions" (Y/N) said back, the air getting tense. "There are countless worlds out there, ones where we could live without harming innocent life forms"

"We have not the time, nor the resources to find another planet. Yet again you forget your place" Dru then nodded towards Nam-Ek who began to march towards (Y/N). "Perhaps a few more decades in stasis shall change your stance" Dru finished, thinking the matter had been resolved.

(Y/N) felt Nam-Ek getting closer and closer. The moment he felt the metal beneath his feet shack he knew the giant was close enough. Activating the blade on his right gauntlet, and spun around. Stabbing into Nam-Ek's left knee. (Y/N) aimed perfectly, as the blade penetrated the armour, and stabbed into the giants flesh, forcing him to kneel and hold his wound. The giants scream got the attention of General Zod, who turned around once again with wide eyes.

"GENERAL DRU ZOD!" (Y/N) roared, deactivating his blade. "Under Section 8, Sub-Section 52 of the Military Guild, I Major (Y/N) Zod, deem you unfit for service" (Y/N) and Dry both narrowed their eyes at one another.

"You don't want to do this boy" Dru spat back.

"General" (Y/N) said coldly, refusing to address this monster as his father. "Would you care to step outside?" he finished, cracking his neck and detaching his cape.

Dru Zod starred back at his son, shocked, his eyes glazed over in fury and anger. "You dare?" he asked, stepping froward. "You dare?" he repeated, going to swing at his son. (Y/N) avoided the punch, and went to hit Dru under the arm. Due to the atmosphere and gravity of the ship, there was no unique abilities here, just combat. Dru caught the punch, and immediately head butted (Y/N) causing him to stagger backwards. "I taught you everything you know boy".

(Y/N) went to feel his nose, looking at his fingers and seeing a few droplets of blood and grit his teeth. Activating his gauntlet blade, (Y/N) charged at his father ready to fight him with everything he had. The younger Zod stabbed forward, causing the older one to weave to the side, grabbing (Y/N) at the back of his head and slamming him into the ground. (Y/N) tried to stab Dru to the foot, but he managed to jump backwards slightly.

Both Zod's then charged at one another, both grabbing the other's fists in attempt to over power one another. (Y/N) knew he'd falter, not only was his father older, stronger, but (Y/N) had his scarred shoulder which even now began to ache. Dru Zod once again heat butted (Y/N), then wrapped a hand around his neck and began to apply pressure. (Y/N) could feel air exiting his lungs, as he fell to the ground, Dru kneeling down still choking him.

"This is what happens-" Dru began to pummel son in the face. Blow after powerful blow delivered, causing more blood to flow from his nose. "When you defy me" he finished, with one final punch to the face. (Y/N) coughed on the floor, blood exiting his mouth and staining the metal. Dru then stood up, wiping his hands clean. "You (Y/N) Zod, have abandoned Krypton, you are no longer my son. And I, General Dru Zod, deem you unfit for service" he finished. He looked up to the revered Nam-El. "Escort this-" there was a slight pause. "-Rogue Kryptonian to his stasis pod" he ordered, with Nam-Ek nodding in response.

(Y/N) continued to cough and bleed, as he was literally dragged by the foot out off of the bridge. The last thing he heard before the doors closed were

"Release the World Engine"

(Minutes Later)

(Y/N) had regained his senses, he lay on the floor as Nam-Ek did his best to work the stasis pod controls. He had to think, he could feel the ship moving down to the planet surface, it would deploy on the opposite side of the planet of the World Engine. Ready to shift the gravity of Earth. And he needed to help the humans, in anyway he could.

It would take Nam-Ek a few minutes to initiate the pod. (Y/N) moved slowly on the floor, to not alert Nam-Ek. He slowly reached for his hip, and pulled out his small plasma pistol. He held it firmly in his left hand, aimed not at Nam, but the pod. Firing off a blast, a coolant tube was hit, spraying white coolant all over Nam-Ek, slowing his movements and wearing his arms around. (Y/N) took this as his chance, and ran for the door while Nam was distracted. Just as Nam-Elk realised that (Y/N) was on the other side of the door, the young Kryptonian shot the control pad, sealing the door shut and Nam-Ek inside. The giant pounded on the metal door, creating a few dents but he wouldn't be able to break through.

(Y/N) then ran as fast as he could towards the escape pods. Every other soldier would be on the bridge, witnessing their victory, leaving the rest of the Black Zero empty. The young man needed to steady himself, leaning on a wall once or twice to steady himself.

Reaching the escape pods, (Y/N) pulled himself into the nearest one and ejected from the Black Zero. The pod shot from the prison ship, down to the planet below. A few blasts came from the Black Zero, trying to shoot the escape pod out of the sky. As the pod entered the atmosphere, a shot actually managed to land. Not destroying the pod, but damaging it slightly. (Y/N) blinked and several times, unable to stay awake as he passed the clouds. He swore he saw a red streak pass, coming towards his pod at a rapid pace.

His body rocked and was thrown around as the pod, the pod scrapping against dirt. (Y/N) saw the pod door literally ripped open, the young man was breathing heavily, still coughing up a bit of blood. But he managed to see Kal-El, offering him a hand, as the sun shined behind him..
