gotham city , new york
wayne manor
3:30 PM

DAMIAN WAS PRACTICALLY IN A BAD MOOD, like usual. he had loads of unnecessary homework to complete that was due by tomorrow, plus he and batman had to go on patrol tonight. damian never really had the time to handle his own business, considering he had his superhero and civilian life to deal with everyday.

he came back to the manor with alfred from when he picked him up from school earlier. damian still couldn't shake off the situation that unfortunately took place earlier. he didn't know how much of a smartass the anderson girl was and it certainly caught him off guard.

the first person to greet damian was dick, who looked like he just got done training, considering how sweaty he was.

"what's up, little d! how was school?" he enthusiastically asked damian.

damian just glared at his older brother, as if he wanted to throw knives at him with his eyes, and said, "wouldn't you like to know, grayson.", rolling his eyes in the process.

"yikes. how bad was it this time?"

"some girl ran into me this morning because she was being careless about her surroundings." damian replied with a blank face. he was still irritated about annoyed about what she said to him, and it was unusual for him.

dick's eyebrows furrowed up in confusion. "you mean one of your little fangirls? damn, i feel bad for you." he joked with a large smirk painted across his lips. he knew there were many girls there who would constantly stalk damian just because of how rich him and his family were, and he found it entertaining to see how pissed damian would get when that happened.

"she was actually the opposite. a disdainful smartass if you wanna get specific." he rolled his eyes and proceeded to make his way towards the living room, followed by dick.

seconds later, there were footsteps speeding towards their direction. tim was probably down the hall somewhere, killing himself with coffee, so of course it was jason. he sprinted towards damian and halted when he was right in front of him and dick. his hair was all over the place while his white streak just hung down his forehead.

"i heard demon spawn talking about a girl. who was it this time?" jason smirked at his little brother, who only rolled his eyes at the grown man's behavior in return.

so childish, he thought to himself.

"none of your business, todd." damian snarled at him as he sat down on the couch.

"damian got into an argument with a girl." dick explained to jason. damian glared at him, clearly not happy that dick was exposing his business to somebody else. he knew what would happen once all of his brothers found out about what happened today. they would tease him and joke around like uneducated children.

"holy shit! what happened?" jason asked as if the situation was amusing to him.

damian rolled his eyes, vexed at his brother's behavior. "she ran into me and out of stupidity, she expected me to apologize for simply telling her to watch where she was going."

dick raised an eyebrow in confusion, as if what damian said was completely unbelievable. "simply? when have you ever been simple with anything? knowing you, you were probably rude to her."

"i was pissed and the anderson girl made it worse." damian crossed his arms, defending his supposed claim.

"anderson? you mean trina and james anderson's daughter? i never knew she was in gotham academy." dick questioned with a nonplussed look on his face. damian wasn't surprised about that. it wasn't like the anderson's were celebrities, but people knew how good chemists they were.

"because she isn't some celebrity, grayson." damian snarled at dick, as if he had a lack of sense.

jason raised his eyebrows in fake shock. "geez, are you really that pissed because she had the guts to put you in your place? about time someone did that shit." he joked.

"this isn't some type of joke." damian said, causing dick and jason to aggressively laugh to the point where they couldn't even breathe. damian only growled at both of his brother's behavior and got up to make his way to his room.

continuing to laugh, jason paused, trying to catch his breath and said, "hey, demon spawn, don't stay up there too long. we have patrol tonight."

"whatever. just don't fucking bother me."

THE FIVE VIGILANTES SAT in different areas of gotham, waiting for something to happen, however, everything was still so far, which was surprising considering how dark and gloomy is was outside. most of the action usually occurred around that time. damian started to doubt whether it was necessary to go on patrol today, but at the same time, he knew he had to keep a look out just in case.

"this is weird. is it just me, or is more quiet than usual?" red robin asked everyone through the coms.

"which is why i suggest we be more cautious. it rarely gets this silent around here, so we need to stay on high alert. don't do anything until i tell you to. got that, robin?" batman's dark voice stated, referring to what happened last time with a mugger. they still caught him, but he almost got away because robin disobeyed batman by jumping in too early,

robin rolled his eyes at his father's reminder, while sitting on top of the GCPD building. it wasn't like someone was going to die just because he stepped into action a little earlier than expected. if that's how he felt then he shouldn't have said anything at all. how did batman expect him to not do the opposite of what he was told? it had literally been that way for almost six years.

"yes, batman. i get it." robin said with as much attitude he could give his father. he may act on impulse most of the time, but he didn't do it out of stupidity. besides, jason had a habit of doing the same, so why not scold him either?

there were still a few more minutes of silence along with a good amount of people walking down the sidewalks, but there was still this weird feeling, as if something was going to happen. robin still kept a lookout, and he noticed the same girl with the braids, the same girl who had pissed him off earlier. in his head, he questioned why she was out in the open like that, considering how dangerous it would be during that time.

didn't she know how dangerous gotham was at night? she could get snatched up before she could get the chance to blink. robin decided to quietly follow her until she was safe, just in case something were to happen. storm continued to walk, making robin feel unnoticed.

"robin, what the hell are you doing?" batman asked from the coms, hearing the young vigilante landing on top of every single building he jumped on.

still following the girl, he quietly replied, "i'm watching over someone."

"it's probably that girlfriend of his." red hood teased. robin could feel his smirk all from over there.

"shut the hell up. she's not my girlfriend."

"enough," batman interrupted their little argument. "robin, who are you watching?" he asked, questioning his son's actions. he figured that robin knew her as damian.

"storm anderson." robin replied.

"why are you stalking the anderson's kid?" red robin sarcastically questioned robin. of course all these questions were beginning to annoy the hell out of him, and causing him to resist the urge to sew each one of their mouths shut.

he growled in irritation. "something's wrong. i can feel it. my gut's telling me she's not safe walking alone like that."

"... or you just wanna hang out with her—"

"fuck off, todd." robin continued to follow the girl, until she walked into an abandoned alley. he mentally face palmed at the storm's actions.

who the fuck is stupid enough to walk in a dark alley alone?

storm continued to walk down the gloomy area. robin thought he saw a distant shadow flee from the corner of his eye, but he couldn't really make out the figure. it was too quick and from the look of it, storm seemed to notice something flew past too, but not the shadow.

she rolled her eyes with an annoyed sigh, and did a 360 with an irritated look on her face. robin was surprised about how calm storm was. he knew that she was aware that he was following her, but she didn't know who he was.

"you know, i can literally hear you following me. for the past ten minutes, actually. you might wanna be lighter with your landings next time." she bluntly stated. robin slowly landed on the side of the street. then he began to slowly reveal himself from the shadows, while storm sat there unimpressed.

"robin?" Storm questioned the hero.

"why are you walking alone in a dark alley?" he asked storm, ignoring her slightly shocked look. after asking the question, storm folded her arms and sighed with a slightly confused expression.

"why are you stalking me?" she countered.

robin mentally wanted to just give up. even to robin, she still had the guts to get sassy and sarcastic. robin just wanted to make sure she was good enough to finish her trip to wherever the hell she planned on going so him and the rest of his "batfamily" can go home.

"you didn't answer my question. it's too dangerous for someone like you to be roaming gotham, not to mention an ally." robin battled her quibble.

storm chuckled at the hero's slightly dark voice. "there are many people who walk through alleys at nighttime. it isn't new to me. i'm just taking a shortcut home."

"good. i'll accompany you until you get there."

storm slightly rolled her eyes and began walking again. "i know how to protect myself... but i guess there's no stopping you."

protect herself? she must've bumped her head. robin thought the girl was crazy. there were many people in gotham who claimed to "know how to protect themselves", but ended up getting kidnapped or murdered.

"tell me where you live." robin demanded as calmly as he could be. the anderson girl was really starting to piss him off with her stubbornness.

"and why the fuck would i give my address to a stranger? don't get me wrong, i understand you're a hero or whatever. you wanna keep people safe. but i'm literally capable of walking to my apartment by myself. there's no need to babysit me until i get there." storm continued walking while robin just stood there, doing nothing but watching her walk towards the end of the alleyway .

robin waited until storm turned the corner, invisible from his sight, to start following her again, more carefully this time. he didn't expect her to even hear him coming. robin was usually a master at keeping his presence a secret, but this time was different. how did storm hear him? well, he probably wasn't paying attention. he was probably too focused on arguing with his brothers.

but this time, he was going to make sure he was more careful. whatever that shadow was, it looked pretty suspicious.
