Moons pass and Lucaena saw the change her body made. Her once flat belly now pursed out, making it hard for her to stand up or even dress in a simple night shift.
She tries to avoid Aegon at all costsβ when she can.
Her life had become a cage. A cage decorated with pretty flowers. But it was still a cage she was forced to sit in and look pretty.
That was what was expected of her.
She still hears the whispers,
Bastard queen
Daughter of a whore
She sighs and rests her eyes on the book that lies on her lap. It was harder and harder to do anything these days. Her body screamed with an ace.
She hears their voicesβ calling out to her. Some of them are shouting her name, some are whispering as if close to her ear. She often blames herself as well.
Her family was all dead. Why was she the only one that got to live?
Suddenly a hand rests on her shoulder and she jumps and turns around to look at the intruder. Standing tall, was Aegon. Lucaena notices his uneasy expression.Β
She suddenly feels the urge to scream at him to leave. Why must he bother her so? They had done their duty, she had gotten with child. She just wants to forget that she ever married the man she recognize as a monster.
"Lucaena," he starts, then stops quickly to look into her eyes. She shudders at his piercing purple eyes which seemed to melt into her. "I have something for you,"
He brings his hand forth and Lucaena doesn't hide her gasp. Her eyes begin to form tears as she lays her eyes on the necklace in his hand.
Jace's necklace. The one she had given to him.
Why would you ever give me a necklace? Do you think I'll look pretty in it?
Oh, shut up Jace and just take it. Something to remember me by.
He had joked that she was courting him when she gave him it, that their stepfather Daemon did the same with their mother. Lucaena had laughed it off and smacked him across the head.
Jace was dead now.
She keeps her gaze locked on the necklace. "Where did you get that?"
When he doesn't answer she shouts again, "Where did you get it for fucks sake!"
She sees him stiffen at her loud voice and hands it to her. His eyes were glued to the ground, not meeting her eyes.
"Aemond,"
Her heart doesn't stop beating now, and she notices her breath starting to go feral. Aemond. Aemond had started the war when he killed her Arrax and took her from what should've been a peaceful negotiation. Aemond had seen Jace's body and stolen the necklace she had given him from his neck.
He had taken it from his dead body. Jace would not even get to die with it. He died scared and alone.
She doesn't respond to his comment and continues staring at the item in her hand. Suddenly she feels a sudden urge to just give up.
Jace.
Aegon steps closer and tries raising his hand but she steps back, causing him to halt. She imagined for a moment that she saw hurt flash in his eyes, but she didn't care. It was good he gave her the necklace. She needed to be reminded of the monster that stands before her. The monster usurped her mother and burned her alive while making her watch. Her family was dead because of him.
"Leave me alone," she manages to spit out, bringing her arms around her body, not trusting herself not to hurt him.
"Luce, pleaseβ"
Anger flashes through her eyes, and she throws herself at him. She hits him again and again across his chest and face while she lets her tears fall like a waterfall.
She doesn't care If he saw her cry. Let him see what he has made her.
"You fucking kinslayer!" She cries out biting him again, but this time he caught her arm. "You murdered my mother! My family is dead because of you- you drunken usurping cunt! I hate you, I hate you, I hate youβ"
She begins to get tired but Aegon doesn't let her go. He brings her closer to him and Lucaena tries to protest against it but her arms are just so tired.
"Shh," Aegon whispers to her while cradling her head on his leathered chest. His hand rakes through her hair. "It's all right,"
She closes her eyes to ignore his words and tries to close her eyes but occasionally lets out whimpers and cries, blaming him for their situation.
Suddenly, she felt an immense amount of pain in her lower era and she cries out. Aegon pulls away from her, startled. His eyes confirm her fear. The babe was coming, and it was coming now.
Ser Arryk barges in and stares at the scene with wide eyes.
"Ser Arryk! Bring me the maester!" He shouts. For a moment the guard just stands there. "Now Ser Arryk!"
The guard startles and rushes to find the maester.
Lucaera is still crouching, holding her belly while screaming in pain.

Aegon swears he never had heard any woman scream so loudly before.
Yet the screams reminded him of his second wife. The screams sounded familiar to the last pregnancy that killed her.
He feels his heart beating and he notices his mother staring at him. She had arrived back from Oldtown for the birth of the babe, but he had ignored her at every moment he could take.
He did not wish to speak to her.
A scream pierces through the air with the sound of another. Their beards perk up at the cries of the babe.
Aegon feels as though it's enough and barges in, taking in the scene in front of him. There were maesters and midwives around the chambers, seeming anxious.
He steps closer to the maester who holds the babe to his chest.
"Give me my child," he demands Maester Orwyle. He complies.
Aegon stares gobs-smacked at the small babe in his arms. He had his looks, silver hair, and purple eyes.
"A boy, your grace," Orwyle proclaims with a grin.
An heir for the realm, finally.
Another cry runs through the room and Aegon lifts his head confused as to seeing a midwife holding another babe.
His eyes widen. Twins?
"Two boys, your grace,"
Aegon is smiling now. Gods, two boys. Finally, he could breathe from his grandsire breathing on his neck.
Lucaena, his thoughts remind him. He stared at the bed, filled with blood. His body runs cold.
He gives his son to a midwife nearby and walks towards the bed where his wife rested.
She was pale, sweat was clinging to her body and her chest was faintly rising up and down.
He touched her, "Lucaena?"
He stills. Her shoulder was cold, like touching a body after a storm. He stares at her and feels his heart slow down.
He glared at the Maester, "What the fuck is wrong with her?"
"The birth has seemingly been exhausting for the queen I do not know if she will survive your grace, I apologize,"
Aegon breathes low and looks at Lucaena again.
That was not the way they would end. She was supposed to forgive him. They were supposed to live together and raise their children, finally happy.
"Do not cry," Lucaena says weakly, eyes falling. "I was never meant to live,"
Aegon shakes his head frantically. "No, no. You will live and we will live happily, Lucaena. Please,"
Aegon begs her to survive. Lucaena denies his request.
"Please do not leave me alone. I have nothing if you die,"
"If I die it is because you made it so. I told you I had no wish to live by your side. I will remain loyal to my beloved mother and see her again with the rest of my family. I shall see my Jacaerys again,"
